I have rented my property through Townends since 2012 and have been consistently satisfied with their service. The changeover between tenants has been handled promptly and efficiently and the property has not been vacant once in six years. Maintenance issues are communicated and dealt with swiftly. Most recently I have been dealing with Rominder Virdi at the Egham office and she has been more than helpful in steering me through the torturous local government form-filling that has just come into effect. I'm happy to recommend Townends to anyone who wants to let a property with a minimum of stress.
Absolutely unprofessional. Students - AVOID at all costs, you're better off finding another agency or private landlord in Egham. Take back their words, abrupt and refused to amend paperwork that had only been typed up (LATE) and not even yet sent out let alone signed because there was a football match on at 7pm so they're closing early (5pm when it states 6:30pm!?!). Will do anything to get out of work.
My parents and I rented through Aspen for 9 years and I honestly could not fault them! As you can imagine, in 9 years we have had our share of broken down appliances, plumbing issues, heating issues as any property would over such a long period of time. Well every problem we had was instantly solved - complained about a faulty fridge, Sharon made sure we had a new one within a couple of days. Our boiler stopped working at 6pm on a Friday and Sharon offered to bring their own office heathers to us - there was no need as within 2 hours the problem had been resolved. I could go on and on with examples of how reliable they are! Sharon has been more than just our property manager, she has been a friend over the years and has always had our back! The check out was just as pleasant as well, we have had our full deposit back, no cleaning charge, no fees deducted, just our money back and lovely good luck wishes! Could no recommend them enough, they are the best!!!
Found out flat hasn't been let despite chasing numerous times - tenants have had a bad experience and property needs over £5k work to get back up to spec. Emails and calls not returned until chased.
Would recommend Alpha if you are looking to rent in the area. Cannot praise Gabby enough for helping to resolve a problem. She went out of her way to help, even calling me after she had finished work to keep me updated. She dealt with the problem quickly and efficiently and with good humour and must have the patience of a saint!
Awful estate agents. They were very unprofessional, especially when it came to the checkout process.
We were told a date and time for the check out, then they didn't show up, when we phoned them they told us they had already done it without us several hours prior.
They were noticeably angry that we decided to hire our own end of tenancy cleaners and not spend ridiculous amounts on the ones that they recommended. They told us that they would advise the landlord that we should not receive any of our security deposit back.
Luckilly our landlord inspected the property himself and didn't want to charge us for anything, so Alpha returned our deposit (minus a £96 fee that they had never informed us about).
When we went in to their office to return the keys, we were immediately greeted with: “are you the ones who left the bad Google review?" He was almost frightening in his mannerism. But at least he reminded me that I could leave a Google review.
I have also heard rumours that some students are offered extra benefits in return for a positive review, and such behaviour from them would not surprise me.
Overall there is not anything about Alpha residential that I would recommend, i haven't heard great things about other estate agents in the area either but they can't be worse than this. I have heard positive things from friends that rented privately from landlords though.
If you are a student planning on renting in the Egham area, good luck.
