When looking to secure a tenancy we were not kept up to date or informed if our offers had been accepted or unsuccessful, after emails and calls not returned we went elsewhere and secured a property with all checks completed in 48 hours. Do not recommend... Read more

Below average, I wish I can give stars in negative. I am seriously hit by the ongoing crisis, and I was struggling to pay rent. Mr Andrew Loudon calls since he is worried that landlord is seriously worried about rent not paid for a month. I understand all that, but the worst part is when I request him if he can on behalf request the landlord to reduce ~15% of rent, Andrew replies - "Assuming landlord will say no" (seriously even before you request you know he will say no, the worst part is he is explainig me how good the property is (seriously does that even matter during covid-19 crisis) On the one side, people are dying, my city in india is under strict lockdown, all andrew and the landlord cares is full rent payment, that's all. The most appalling part was there was no empathy in the tone and i wonder how inconsiderate one can really be. WOW!! Later, I asked if I can leave the property a month early, the great Andrew asks to pay full rent. After I paid the full payment, nobody cares to even respond, they call and send multiple emails everyday for money. That’s all... Read more

Just average, Personally I believe this agency doesn’t care about tenant as much as it cares about the landlord. It had 2.6 stars on Google reviews, ignoring that was truly a mistake!!! Ysabel was extremely friendly and helpful when assisting my partner and I with finding and securing a lovely rental property in Southsea. She explained the process well and took into account everything that we were looking for. After wondering about the zero deposit scheme for a while and asking various sources about how we could go about checking our eligibility for it, Ysabel was the first to give us an explaination that was simple and even took the time to write down figures so that we could work out if this was right for us. We are so happy in our first little flat together and rest well knowing that it is let and managed by Austin & Wyatt and that we can go to them for any future maintenance requirements within the property. To make the situation even better - our landlord is lovely too! Thanks so much. A definite 5 stars!*****... Read more

This is my appreciation of lettings manager, Beth Watson, whose prompt help took the potential stress out of letting my property: "I want to thank you for all your excellent work, for your wisdom in providing advice and for your support through the tough times (like when Portsmouth City Council kept changing the HMO rules). I will always remember how hard you worked, how honest and realistic you were and how well you understood the challenges we faced."... Read more

The team at Austin and Wyatt, Southsea have been absolutely great through our roller coaster of a ride. We have been trying to move for the last few years with various obstacles preventing this. Throughout this, the team have been extremely friendly and supportive, whilst remaining professional all at the same time. They have always kept in touch, updating us with regular phone calls. I cannot thank them enough for making this very stressful time, as little stressful as possible. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to sell their property.... Read more

Avoid at all costs any company asoicated with countrywide lettings. I had to fix many issues in the rental myself as the agent was never bothered to chase up original snagging issues. Including a working shower head, front door not locking and the toilet not actually being attached to anything. Last winter it snowed and the boiler broke down in the evening, the agent refused to send out an emergency plumber. The landlords brother came over a couple of times and pretend he knew what he was doing. When it came to giving the property back I handed the place back cleaner than what I had received it, gifted lamp shades and the issues I had repaired. Despite this being backed up in the two reports the greedy landlord insisted on taking £150 out of my deposit for cleaning. I was gobsmacked and tried to get countrywide to contest it verbally with the landlord. This took so long and they slowed the process down I assume in order for me to just bend over and take the charges. The deposit protection scheme is a nonsense through this company as they know you will not bother going through the propper contest procedure for the matter of £150 (conveniently a very round number) as it can take 9 days. My deposit was nearly £1000 and I needed it back. Despite absorbing the charges it still took a month from my check out date to get it back, with constant chasing via email and telephone. No urgency within countrywide and they look after the landlords NOT the Tennant's. The ironic thing was I was a neighbour to the landlord and paid my rent on time every month and still got this treatment. Leaves a very bitter taste.... Read more

What a fantastic service I received from Beth Watson here at Austin and Wyatt, when looking for a place to live. She was the most helpful and thoughtful person I dealt with while viewing many properties. The professionalism and repour I received from Beth played a massive part in my decision of where to rent as I didn’t want to deal with anyone else. I’d highly recommend for people looking to rent in the future. If I ever had a question, it was anaswered ASAP and everything was made a clear as water.... Read more

Unorganised, unprofessional and lazy. This whole move has been unnecessarily stressful because of them from the start. (Warning: This is gonna be a long one)! We agreed on a Mid-August move-in date only to discover that the repair works had not even been fully completed. And yet, the manager was keen on me to take the property from end of July onwards!! Shortage of staff - the manager of the branch was out of the business shortly after the property was let agreed. Ever since then, every time I rang their number, it would go to their voicemail. My call has actually been answered only a handful of times. I don't understand how the "biggest lettings company in the U.K." can't find holiday cover and have only ONE person arranging/attending viewings, dealing with enquiries AND all the admin that goes with it! Was not even sure whether we would be moving in to the property until about a week before the move-in as was not given adequate updates. Carpets - was told that Property Management would get in touch with me to confirm date to fit new carpets. Did not receive any communication from Property Management. This was now the day the payment needed to be taken from me (deposit/rent) and I'm the one who's leaving THEM messages like, "I think I'm supposed to make a payment today... where am I supposed to be paying this???" Instead, got a call from the carpet fitters themselves. They informed me that the earliest they could come to fit them would be the end of the month - AFTER all the furniture and belongings would have been moved in. Did not see the point in losing my temper with the carpet lady as it seemed like this phone call had been "fobbed off" on her. Kept ringing and then finally sent an email regarding the payment and asking for an alternative arrangement. Received a phone call from the manager asking me to pay the money. To this, I responded with, "oh I see you got my email" and was met with silence and then "ummm" whilst she supposedly scrolled through trying to find the email. After the payment was finalised, she proceeded to inform me that that was the earliest the carpet company could do and that this was the company the landlord had authorised to instruct. I asked if the landlord had been asked to consider an alternative option. I was told that even if another company was to be instructed at this point that it would be too long "anyway". I doubt the landlord was even contacted because the guy would probably have a go at them as it's probably not his fault about the pace they have moved at! Have now moved in to the place and currently in a state of limbo as to minimise the double-handling of unpacking/setting/clearing/moving/setting again! Have not even been able to assemble most of the furniture. Garage - upon opening the door of the garage, we discovered an assortment of furniture and other items scattered all across it. At this point, my state of disbelief had reached its capacity (hold on for more!!). I instantly called them (no answer obviously) and then fired off an email asking for the stuff to be moved out asap. Got a response the next day - the Property Management team would get in touch with me about this. It has now been 96 hours and counting and I have not received ANY communication from the Property Management team whatsoever. Does this mean I get a refund for every hour I cannot access the garage I have PAID for!!?? TO TOP IT ALL OFF: Today - we hear a knock on the door. Was not expecting anyone so not wearing a bra or a headscarf (my mom). Get off the couch to head towards the door. Not even halfway there and hear KEYS BEING TURNED IN THE DOOR... Panicking the **** out!!! A contractor puts his head around saying he's here to fix the radiator (oh yeah that's broken too). I ask him why he didn't ring the bell and he said he didn't realise anyone was home as he had been told to go in. The poor guy was flustered/embarrassed, took the pictures he needed to take and left. Apparently, Property Management had arranged it all with myself - in some alternate reality! Haverunoutofspace!... Read more

Awful service unprofessional team! Pete especially. The landlord, continuously broken his end of the contract. Communication between tenants, Austin and Wyatt and the landlord has been atrocious. My flat mates and I, have emailed and phoned up about the problems, which include rats, broken fire alarms, damp, mould on the wall, broken shower and heating. We have had to visit the council due to the incompetence of Austin and wyatt and the landlord. Some of the windows have rotten, mouse droppings right next to the electricity meter. It's disgusting. And disgusting from Austin and wyatt.... Read more

Do not rent. Through this company if you are a student they will take as much advantage out of as possible we’ve had many problems since moving in September and Pete himself has said ‘aslong as we get your money we are happy’. We have rats damp in the walls lights not working when we move in. Mice living in the walls Heating still not working. They are doing nothing about it. I really recommend you do not rent through this company. Or you will end up with breathing problems like me. I don’t have time to deal with this as I’m a full time student .... Read more

Really Professional, went that extra mile! I was first time landlord and I'd been looking to invest in Portsmouth for a while, and friend of mine (an already successful landlord recommend Austin and Wyatt). I gave them a call and they invited me in the same day for a chat. The guys i spoke to were really helpful and very patient with me, they explained the hole process from start to finish and even had some helpful tips on the local market to help me decided where to invest. They outlined the great advantages to lettings but didnt skip over all the pitfalls which put my mind at ease that they really new what they were talking about. Over the next month of searching for property they kept in contact with me to see how i was getting on, i let them know when i'd put an offer on the property i'd decided on, As soon as completed the guys from Austin & Wyatt went out the same day to begin marketing the property. It was on the web the next day and they had viewings lined up that afternoon! They managed to achieved the full asking price and got my tenant moved last week! Start to finish there was great communication throughout and they now manage the property for me which frees me up to look for my next investment!... Read more
