Barrett’s only seem ever contacted by email or text. Texts often by automated system, Never a phone call so there’s no personal touch with them, making them seem quite faceless and disconnected from clients.
Around my contract renewal time, I had persistent almost daily emails to sign, of which I ignored their pressure so I could read the document fully. Again no calls to discuss just emails and texts.
Furthermore, I ended my tenancy with my ex taking the flat on fully, however I’m still receiving her monthly texts about payments.
I know how much she’s paying & when…
This isn’t right. When my details should be full removed from the tenancy as I’m no longer there & she’s in a new agreement

My experience with Barrett Estate & Letting Agents has been far from satisfactory. Despite our genuine interest in a rental property, our attempts to move forward with the process were met with delays and unresponsiveness.
We had booked a viewing for the property and were quite pleased with what we saw. Eager to proceed, we reached out to the agency, expecting a smooth and efficient process. However, what followed was a series of disappointments.
Our questions about the property were left unanswered, and promises of follow-up calls and emails were never fulfilled. We found ourselves having to initiate contact multiple times, which was not only inconvenient but also gave us the impression that our inquiries were not a priority.
The delays were indefinite, hindering our plans and causing unnecessary stress. We couldn’t help but feel that our nationality - we are from Romania - played a role in the level of service we received. The feeling of being discriminated against was hard to shake off.
In conclusion, our experience with Barrett Estate & Letting Agents was marked by unfulfilled promises and poor service. We hope that they take this feedback into account and improve their services for all clients, regardless of their nationality or background.

My wife and I have consistently used Barrett's Estate Agents over the years, as we felt, and still feel that compared to a multitude of other agents you truly get the feeling that they care.
In communication, availability, and in the manner they operate their business there is, in my opinion, no better.
Supportive, genuinely caring, and always there for you. Founded as a family business and this shines through in their operations.
throughout my almost 30 years of dealing with Estate Agents, Barrett's are by a long, long distance leaders in their field, from the moment I stepped into one of their offices I was greeted warmly, and that level of humanity has never been lost.

As a Landlord for the first time, I went to Barratts after an unhappy experience elsewhere. My initial contact was with Dan Barrett who gave me a comprehensive and competitive quotation, and in all subsequent discussions was affable, business like and excellent on communications, with vast experience. Within just a few days, some likely looking tenants were procured. These were ideally suitable, and after checks and appropriate administration, took over the tenancy, all within just a few weeks. Every one I have dealt with at Barratts has been pleasant and efficient. The Inventory was extremly thorough, fair, and impressive. Overall a most satisfactory and stress free experience. Hence, I have no hesitation in recommending Barratt's.

My experience with the Rayleigh branch of Barrett Estate and Letting Agents ever since our house tenancy with them began nearly 5 years ago has always been of the highest possible standard. All the team members I have liaised with since day one have been extremely helpful, understanding, friendly and approachable. Any property maintenance problems I report via the Fixflo app are always dealt with promptly and efficiently, with excellent inter-communication between all parties concerned - landlord, contractors and tenant.
When so much adverse reporting regarding landlord-tenant relationships and disputes is prevalent in today's general media, my own experience goes to show that mutually beneficial positive, understanding, appreciative and empathetic landlord-tenant relationships can and do exist, in this case facilitated with utmost care and professionalism by the Barrett's staff's exemplary handling of their respective clients' needs.
I recommend Barrett Estate & Letting Agents to any prospective renter or landlord. 10/10.

Poor communications and vetting of potential tenants for landlords. Even though we agreed to drop rent, tenants were still not vetted and have made several breaches of the tenancy . In addition we have been sent 2 overdue rent demands , where we rent now, with no communication regarding a new tenancy contract and collection company. Even though we have requested details for these nothing has been done, poor customer service considering the charges involved. Disappointing and stressful company to deal with.

I’ve used Barrett’s for 6 and a bit years now on a short hold assured tenancy agreement. I have found Barrett’s to be quick and easy to deal with, always friendly and any repairs carried out promptly to their best ability (landlord permitting). Barrett’s is a family run business and it’s always lovely to have Mike over to do the Quarterly inspections, really nice guy.

They are highly professional, helpful and friendly.
Any enquiries or problems have been solved extremely quickly either by themselves or by a group of professionals they trust.

Do not go anywhere near the agency if you are a landlord! The Tennant they found for us totally wrecked our property and gone all over our beautiful 4 bed house with bathroom paint to patch up the damage when moving out but the agent didn't even fight our corner and left us with more than £3,000 out of pocket to put it right. New Tennant was shocked that they sided with previous Tennant after seeing such mess. And to finish it off they had the audacity to phone us asking for reference. Absolute disgrace!!!
Please allow us to disagree with your response to my review Barrett Estates as even though you did not manage our property you still DID get involved in our dispute with Tennant and after seeing the shocking state of the property still sided with Tennant.

I have recently purchased a property for redevelopment and decided to rent it out in the short term. I made contact with Barretts for some advice and they could not have been more professional and helpful.
I subsequently used them to market my property and they found me a tenant within days.
They have a very intuitive and user friendly system that deals with all of the paperwork and I do not hesitate in highly recommending them.

The team that work in the Rayleigh office are always very helpful and make you feel comfortable with any queries you may have. I would highly recommend renting a property from them.

Letting agents who work with a terrible landlord and condone his awful ways. They also need to stay updated with laws and inform the landlord they're working with about these laws. They should really find out about what they're landlords are really doing and how discusting it is for a landlord to let people in a house share live in the discusting conditions they have been.

I have let my flat through Barretts for the last 12 years and would never consider going elsewhere. I have found their service to be competent and professional with a team of very friendly staff supporting Carol and Matthew Barrett.
They understand the business from both a landlords and tenants perspective, deal with problems that arise from time to time efficiently and I've found them always available for advice if needed. I recently had a tenant dispute with the Tenant Deposit Scheme which was handled on my behalf by Carol Barrett and achieved a successful outcome.
