Chancellors Didcot do not turn up for viewings which resulted in a possible missed sale. Another estate agent is selling the same property- viewing arranged for today and the whole experience with booking the viewing was much better.

I've had many interactions with lots of estate agents over the years and I can honestly say Chancellors, and Callum Parsons in particular, have been the best I've dealt with.
We're moving from London to Didcot and Callum helped us with our move. He was really helpful at making sure we had all the relevant information and, unlike most other estate agents, kept us updated regularly so we knew what was going on with the other side of the process. It was refreshing to actually feel like someone wanted to work with us and help us get our property.
I would 100% recommend dealing with Chancellors in the future.

The Didcot sales brunch has been really great leading the sale of our property in Didcot. The team - and especially Megan - are well organised, transparent, and on top of the things. From a tenants perspective it doesn't get much worse than Chancellors. The agency treated us with absolute contempt, even when delivering us our eviction notice from our landlords. Despite always paying our rent and never having any issues (full refund of our deposit sureley shows this?) chancellors provided zero support in finding new accommodation - and continued to be aggressive with rent collection right up until the end even when we wanted to leave the property early. It really is hard to see what this company does apart from hoover up your money. Contempt to tenants has also been experiences with chancellors in Abingdon and Banbury, so clearly a company wide issue.

I had the displeasure of renting through this agent. The whole time I was with them I felt like a resource and not a human being. The staff were rude, didn't have time for me and mislead me on the suppliers of my electric, gas, water and broadband, which caused a lot of hassle whilst setting things up. They don't care for people particularly when you're trying to view houses to rent or buy, and don't seem to know anything about their properties. In my experience I would avoid this agent like the plague. If I could give no stars I certainly would.

I have just completed a sale of a retirement flat through Chancellors. The sale was not easy, primarily due to COVID lockdown and then a slow return to interest in the retirement sector. Abbie Ketch and Nick Sampson from Chancellors in Didcot did a great job of pushing the property and then when we finally had interest, Abbie was on top of all the communications, buyer questions and was in touch on a regular basis - leaving no stone unturned. Bryony acted as our point of contact for arranging some viewings of properties. Bryony was really helpful and followed up with us well. We managed to arrange three bookings; one was cancelled in advance of the day. After viewing the first of two properties on the day, we were informed by another employee conducting the viewing that the second house we were due to view was no longer on the market. Advance notice of this would have been appreciated; as would a chance to rearrange or view other similar options available, as this meant we had travelled a fair distance for just one viewing. Some communication improvements within the organisation would likely benefit the experience of customers greatly; however Bryony never failed to be polite throughout the process, despite the issues with the other aspects of experience outside her control.

A mixed bag really. I found it incredibly hard to get a hold of the right people when calling them, meaning that it was almost impossible to actually get a viewing booked. I would either get the customer service team, who were unable to do anything really (arrange viewing or give any real details about the availability) or I would get someone else who was also unable to book a viewing. In all cases, they said they would chase it up and get someone to call me back. At no point did anyone ever call me back.
When I finally got a viewing, after 3-4 days of trying, I was very excited to finally, maybe, find a place to rent. However, 2 hours later, I got a call that the booking was actually not made correctly and instead, the only slot I could get (all the other slots having been taken during the 3-4 days I couldn't get a hold of anyone) was 3 days later, at which point the property will, no doubt, already be taken.
Honestly I am fuming. Who do I need to call to actually get through? How is it so difficult to even get the right person on the phone? Can anyone actually book a viewing?

Terrible experience, I would not recommend them at all!
I offered on a property and was told there was no chain, after weeks of chasing for an update or an exchange date, I found out there was in fact a chain, but the agent had no details.
I felt that I was misled multiple times as to the sellers situation, and the timeline for the purchase.
They also refused to show the property as under offer on selling sites, despite being asked multiple times.
I lost all confidence in them and withdrew from the sale, which then led to a man from the Didcot office calling me and proceeding to be extremely rude to me on the phone.
I would NOT RECOMMEND using chancellors Didcot at all, deeply unprofessional.

Awful from start to finish. Shame I couldn't run this into negative stars.
In trying to find a property they consistently sent 5am emails about properties that weren't even close to the criteria, that should have been a sign of things to come.
On viewing properties they turn up late, with no knowledge of what it is they're trying to sell, and attempt to cover up obvious flaws/faults with awful sales patter.
Had to consistently chase them for finalised paperwork once we'd found a property (Emphasis on "we", as they were busy spamming us junk mail we found one that fitted all criteria that they'd copletely missed).
They consistently emailed some random guy who had a vaguely similar email multiple times, and even when told they were sending my details to an unknown 3rd party, continued to do so (Breach of GDPR).
On moving day, trying to extract the key from them was like pulling teeth as they hadn't a clue what was going on and were virtually unaware of the property even existing, let alone where the keys for it were.
The icing on the cake was trying to exit.
I had to leave the rental property due to domestic abuse, so they attempted to charge me £50 for the privilege.
Do yourself a favour, go elsewhere.

Just awful. You can't speak to someone in office to book a viewing, it is some head office somewhere who have no idea about the properties you're interested in, they turn up late to viewings, they don't ask for feedback after viewings, and most importantly they over price their houses!

We recently used Chancellors in Didcot to move to a rented property and were very impressed with the personal service we received.
Tom and Jack were great, we mainly liaised with Tom and he was proactive and updated us at every stage at such a challenging time with the COVID virus.
In my short experience with letting agents in Didcot I think Chancellors and more specific Tom are a credit to the service, we experienced very poor service from other agents in the area and it was a welcome surprise to us that Tom and Chancellors were so proactive and caring.
I would not hesitate to use the branch again and would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

I was extremely disappointed with their servicers. The house that we rented for 1 year and a half had, of course, issues and was not perfectly clean. This was not a problem for us but when we moved, they claimed a huge amount from the deposit, even if we cleaned the house with professional services. They claimed something that was there before we moved and they said we left the carpet burned but when I repeatedly asked for a picture to prove that (that room was unoccupied) they didn't provide nothing. Instead, they said: "as a gesture of good will" they will only ask us to pay half of the price of the carpet. And it's taking more than 30 days to have the deposit returned. I feel they are stealing and I will avoid this agency on the future.

I would not recommend this Company to anyone wishing to buy or sell a house. Even at the point of exchange the property i was purchasing was still on the market, when asked if they would remove it they refused. They didn't even change the status to under offer which made us panic throughout the sale. Chancellors also insist on phoning you several times a week with updates on new properties even when you are nearing completion on a property with them.....why? What should have been a very exciting time turned into a stressful period of our life.

Put an application in for a property and was told that I could give my notice to leave my current accommodation only to find out a few days later that the property already had another applicant which I was never told about on numerous occasions that they could have.
Service has been slow and lacking useful information right from the beginning of my experience with Chancellors.
There are much better and more professional agencies available in Didcot, would recommend people look elsewhere if you want a good service.

Extremely poor service. They promise excellent service to tenants on houses managed by them, but that fizzles out once you move in. I have been without a working shower for a month now, but no action has been taken. there was 2 weeks wait to take first step, 1 week to get someone to have a look and now we await quotation from plumber. If it really take 4 weeks without any fix for a shower, then I don't think that is excellent service which they promise.

Very bad service. Online receptionist always asks details and say they will pass the info to collegue, and they forgot about it. They never call you. When you call them ot automatically goes to someone else who dont recognise you. I personally visited didcot office, and met to branch manager again they filled form asked every detail and my requirement then forgot... If i could give zero star or minus one i would happily give to them.

Don't use chancellor's at all. They are just after your money and as soon as you've given the application fee they are less that helpful as they've received their money and you're left alone to deal with anything afterwards. Not too mention Experian, which they use for your background reference, cannot do there own jobs properly as they managed to mess up with my reference and there by causing me to lose my property as a result. After which, I was given a massive 2 days to sort it out, in which I woke up finding my offer had since been declined even tho I was waiting for Experian to work with my HR department on the matter... If you have a choice in the matter, definitely use another estate agents as these are the worst I've come across.

was promised some white goods and signed a contract on that basis, however when I moved in I was found that there was nothing (no oven, no fridge, no freezer, no washing machine). I was so upset and the landlady was very sweet to remedy it even though it was no fault of her own (she did not handle the contract negotiation process) - DO NOT TRUST ANY PROMISE they make you just ask for black and white (esp with inventory) with them as this is how they work.

Organisation needs to be improved, however I discussed my concerns with them and they put a lot of effort into remedying the problems raised resulting in a somewhat smooth move in.
Also, to sign a contract with them you have to consent to receive sales cales from vigin media, endsleigh and some company called spark energy. This is apparently not compulsory though.
There were a few problems with the contract signing. The first copy had several details incorrect and it took 2.5 weeks for them to fix this. Also, we were told we'd have a specific agent working with us during the move, this agent is now uncontactable and I just receive a bunch of emails from 3 or 4 other different people.
These problems were caused by poor organisation on the part of the company instead of this individual branch but I'd still be hesitant to use them again.

Summary
Whilst the staff at the local branch were generally very pleasant and helpful our overall experience with Chancellors left us extremely unhappy. Chancellors’ general business plan seems to be to exaggerate the value of your property (compared to other local agents who gave much more accurate valuations) to gain your business, then later when a sale is agreed they pass you off to what is basically a call centre (the “progressive sales team”) who are beyond useless and severely lacking in training. The local teams seem to have a high turnover of staff; the local manager changed twice in the period we sold our house.
The valuation
After getting three valuations we went with Chancellors as we liked the idea they suggested of having an open house. Chancellors valued our house at £260k-£265k telling us that £250k was far too low for our property (other agents valued at £250k-£255k and it sold eventually for £249k). The agent told us that there would be absolutely no problem selling our property immediately based on the property type (3 year old, 2 bed house). We signed up to Chancellors and started moving forward. The first signs of the quality of service came with the draft ‘particulars’ for our property. These were shoddy and poorly written, littered with spelling/grammatical mistakes and missing out obvious selling points of the property. A second draft was provided after we pointed these out but this still had similar errors meaning a third draft had to be produced.
The sale process
The open house failed to attract a single offer despite a number of viewings. We give credit to Chancellors that after the open house they did get a lot of viewings of the property. However it wasn’t until a few weeks after the open house that they sent a questionnaire about the house (the information which was meant to be used for viewings) which should have really been provided at the start. Twice after viewings we came home to find that the door had been left unlocked. Other than this the local team were always very easy to contact and speak to and generally very helpful. After around 6 months Chancellors did get us an offer which we accepted.
The “sales progression” team
This is the part of the process where the stress really hits. The sale has been agreed, a chain starts to form, solicitors are involved and everyone in the chain is stressed and wanting to get details sorted out. This is not the time that you want your sale handed over to an inept call centre worker. During our many infuriating phone calls with the lady handling our case she constantly complained about the number of cases she had, she forgot who she was speaking to part way through calls and started going over other cases’ private details. She even rung back a few minutes after a phone call where we had discussed a couple of jobs which she needed to do as she had forgotten already! Generally this was an infuriating experience.
We finally lost our patience with her when we were trying to organise a completion date and she twice came back to us suggesting dates which were Sundays, so were impossible! At this point we complained to our local team and asked for a different person to take on the case. The local team tried their best to get the issue resolved however were unsuccessful, and there seemed to be serious miscommunication between the departments of Chancellors. The other estate agent in the chain was also shocked by her level of incompetence, raising a complaint with Chancellors themselves. Eventually after much stress everything did get sorted and we moved house successfully, and on completion date we got an email from the lady at the call centre congratulating us on exchange of contracts (which took place two weeks prior!).
Overall we were forced to manage most of the sale progression ourselves as the team were incapable.
Final note – if you do have to buy through Chancellors we recommend avoiding any of the additional ‘services’ such as solicitors/mortgage brokers and look elsewhere instead.

The Didcot branch who sold our property were excellent. They were very professional and sold the property quickly. The original buyer pulled out due to no fault of Chancellors but they reacted brilliantly and re-sold our property within a couple of days.
Rhianna Aston-Moon & Alex Dimopoulos are excellent and highly recommended. They were both based at the Didcot branch when our property was on the market.
The specialist sales team who look after you once your property has been sold were amazing. Virginia Ayres was our contact and she has been unbelievable in getting the process to exchange of contracts.
We had a very difficult and challenging chain but Virginia went beyond her duties to make sure we got to exchange of contracts.
Chancellors as a whole i would highly recommend.

A really helpful bunch of guys, you can always reach them on the phone (pretty much any time of day) and you feel well looked after. They are keen to get you the best possible price for your house.
Would recommend them to anyone looking for a less stressful house move.
There are estate agents that make you scream "What are we paying them for" but these guys are certainly not in that group.

I would highly recommend Chancellors estate agents and in particular David Marsh, who went the extra mile on every occasion to make sure that our house purchase ran smoothly.
Nothing was too much trouble and he always followed through on his promises.

A very efficient and professional service. I had a long wait for the vendor of my new house to find a property to move into (over 6 months). However, throughout this period Rhianna was excellent and kept me updated on progress with a warm and friendly manner. I always felt she was on my side and she stopped me from getting disheartened on numerous occasions. She was also very good at answering any questions I had on the whole process, which were many given I was a first time buyer. I would definitely do business with Chancellors again.

I've just been through what feels like the longest house buying process ever (6 months from the time our offer was accepted) and it really must be said that Jocelyn, in your sales team, is an absolute shinning light!

I never had much time for Estate Agents, nothing personal of course but always found them to be too much like politicians, over promising to get your business, but once that contract was signed, you would be lucky to hear from them. This was until I met Daniel Bradley, I found him to be honest and straight talking, what a refreshing change! I never once had to call the office, I always received a weekly call and in-depth viewing feedback via email. I received a good price for the property and I do believe this was down to the efforts of Daniels team. The sale had a few hiccups,though no fault of Chancellors, but Daniel was always at the other end of the phone to offer advice and help. I would, without hesitation recommend the sales team at Chancellors, whom have changed my opinion of Estate Agents.

The time came for us to downsize, we looked at three local estate agents and chose Chancellors as they are not your typical estate agent who try to sign you up straight away but did give us time to think about all that was said by the agents we invited into our home.
Within 4 weeks of going on the market we had a firm offer which we accepted. we would recommend anyone who is undecided which agent to use to have a very good look at Chancellors (Didcot office)

Highly recommended! Dealt with this office for years and they sold property for me on two occasions, years apart, quickly both times at the asking price. However what I liked most about them was the utter professionalism and dedication to me the seller. Shame I have left the area else I would certainly be using them again for selling and finding top quality tenants.
They also happen to be the only agents in the area who didn't try to undermine their competitors and that is why I went with them the first time. I guess they let their performance do the talking. Very Happy!
