Seriously, avoid! Dealing with Chancellors-Headington has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever gone through- and this is even before the start of the tenancy. They don't reply to emails or phone calls - you literally have to chase them for basic communication. After agreeing with me about a break clause, they changed it in the contract they sent me (without discussing this with me), giving the landlord an exclusive right to break the tenancy agreement. I had to complain about that and wait for two weeks for it to be changed. And although I asked them repeatedly about the Right to Rent and what is required, nobody replied to me, and only two days before moving they informed me that I have to go for a physical check of my passport at the branch or else they won't release the keys. Irrespective of my time, the fact that I live 3-hours away from Oxford, and the current virus situation that demands people are given enough time to arrange safe transportation. I ignored all the negative comments that people write here thinking they are just exaggerations, but seriously take care! I'm stuck because I already signed the agreement and I have to move out from my current accommodation. But if you are still in an early stage of the process, try to search for an agency that respects you and can handle things professionally. Or even contact a landlord/lady directly, they will handle things much better than that!

They ask everyone at the start of their tenancy to come onto here and give them a 5 star review. Of course, they will be at their best during the start of this whole process as they're trying to take money from you. Unfortunately, I was gullible enough to believe that they were indeed operating at these high standards of care and gave them such a review.

That's when things got worse. It was impossible to get in contact with them to fix things after the tenancy agreement started. When our tenancy agreement ended, our landlord (can't say a word against him - he made the tenancy process bearable) agreed for the full deposit to be returned. It took 5 weeks, 39 emails, and 9 phone calls to get them to act. Their excuse each time was the person dealing with our deposit wasn't around to help us. This in itself was outrageous, but did not effect me sufficiently to come onto here to change the review.

I have finally changed my review because I found out that they have been continuing to deduct rent from my account long after I have left. This is has left me aghast and with a whole new issue to deal with. I would recommend any other lettings agent in the area you're in

I cannot thank Charles enough for his help and professionalism throughout this renting process. Beyond my expectations. He knows this market and he was readily available whenever I needed information. Nothing was too much trouble for him. e.g. I stopped by unexpectedly and within 30 seconds he was ready leave the office because he immediately wanted to show me an apartment that had just become available on the market. I feel you get a real personal touch with his service.

I recently sold my parent's home after my Mother passed away from the Coronavirus. Everyone at Chancellors has been amazing through this horrible time. They contacted potential clients even before the house was officially on the market and we had so many people interested. The valuation was spot on and we achieved the asking price within a few weeks. I would highly recommend Chancellors to anyone selling a home, the whole process has been seamless, emails answered almost immediately, and every step has been dealt with in a very professional way!

Chancellors helped me with renting a current flat where I live and buying a house that I am due to move in soon.
I still remember the first day when I walked into the Chancellors Headington office a year ago. Being a stranger to the town, looking for a place to rent for a wife and 3 years old son, not familiar with the area, I had no idea where to start and walking into the Chancellors was one of the best decisions I have ever made. A Lovely lady called Olivia welcomed me and took my details and requirements, then found me a perfect matching flat on the same day.
And a year later, when I decided to buy a first home, of course I contacted the Chancellors
as I had no issues what so ever with this flat. A very professional gentleman Alex Bradley helped me above and beyond to find a dream home. Alex has a full of local knowledge such as catchment area for good schools which was a very important matter for us as Joseph was going to school soon. I was very happy with Alex's viewing arrangements as response was really quick and it was very efficient. For instance we did 6 viewings in 90 mins as Alex scheduled it so well. Every single houses Alex showed me was pretty much in line with my requirements so it was very difficult to choose one. His attention to details is excellent. Something I mentioned during the conversation which I don't even remember was already dealt with it. I strongly recommend anybody who is looking for a property to buy in this area should go to the Chancellors Headington Office and ask for Alex Bradley to be your agent if possible.

Chancellors headington branch have been very helpful in my search for a rental property in Headington, Oxford. Lettings negotiator Oliver Boyle, in particular, was attentive to my specific needs for a parking slot and close proximity to the hospitals and ring road. He also went out of his way to ensure that Covid-19 related disruption was minimised.

I am disappointed with the agency since I have booked a house 3 times to be able to visit it personally and nobody from the agency showed up to teach me I have had to ask for the day off at work 3 times to be able to attend the appointment. and have wasted my time and day. And I also do not understand why I should rent a whole house when I am interested in renting the room of that house. I have also called many occasions to find out why there is nobody from the agency present to show me the house. And they always tell me we will send you a confirmation email with the appointment and the appointment time and they will contact me, but I have not received any calls to confirm the appointment I have only received a confirmation email but no calls from them. Only when I called myself did they make excuses for me and ask for the data. It is not a serious agency and those who work in that agency give me that they do not care at all about clients.

I am not used to giving this kind of review or writing at all because I believe that we can all make mistakes. But I think there are mistakes that cannot be made 3 times.

A month and a few days ago exactly I started to fill out the documentation to acquire a house with Chancellors. They called me very early every day and they were always very aware of what I needed. It took me a week to fill out the form and send all the documentation. The landlord approved us and only our references were missing.

They sent us the contract for 25th June and we are supposed to have the house that day. They called me and told me that at 11:30 am on 25th we would meet at the house to hand over the keys. On Tuesday 23rd June they emailed me to tell me that unfortunately they have to delay the day of moving because we did not have the complete references.

We accept that and delay the day to 1st July. On July 1st we were told that it was impossible to move in because the Landlord had withdraw the application due to our references and 3 days later an email arrived saying that our references are correct. On July 2nd the girl from the agency called me and told me that she has another house that we do not need anything else. That we do not have to worried at all and that she was going to take care of everything and we could move on 9th July.

As we were supposed to move on 25th June. We paid rent and deposit on 22nd June and from that day everything was delayed. We thought because they were just putting everything in order but each time we were delaying and delaying more and more.

We are on July 7 and the only thing I have done is try to call them and speak to the person in charge but they tell me that at the moment they cannot speak with me. Another very relevant point is that Lucinda Sturla the girl from the agency no longer works there since July 4 and now the manager was Olivia. I am trying to communicate with Olivia from that same day, July 4 and it is IMPOSSIBLE.

I spoke to the manager, Jhon and he says he can't do anything because he doesn't have the letting department. What type of company does this to its clients who HAVE ALREADY PAID AN INCOME AND A DEPOSIT OF MORE THAN 2,600.00 POUNDS?

The MASSIVE PROBLEM is that at the moment I am on the street because I am supposed to sign a contract for June 25 and then for July 1 and THERE IS NO ANSWER.

I left my house from the 25th because the contract ended. This agency takes money from you and does not care about you. This is unheard of and disrespectful to us.

Now I am trying to get my money back for two days and I don't get a response.

Finally I decided to take legal action and go to lawyers because it seems disrespectful that they make fun of me

I ended up not renting through them but I had many viewings recently in Surbiton/ Kingston and so many agents are arrogant and not professional while Anna ( I believe) was lovely and friendly with us.
I would however advice to be more honest with your ads, if the garden is "officially" shared/communal, I would put that in the ad to save yours and tenants' time, instead of giving that information later by commenting " the other flat never uses it anyway".
