I thought so many times about to do a review as I don’t like to talk badly, but Me and my colleagues were treated so unfair that people should know how they hand things around. We had a contract with them About 7 years, the first agent we had was very good but she left the company and we have to deal with Cherelle very rude, the kitchen ceiling fell due to a problem in the bathroom above, they spent a year saying they would fix it we paid the rent on time, then they asked for the house during the lockdown and did not return the deposit saying it was a room even if I showed my contract. she was treating us badly, playing the fact that I am an immigrant did not understand English very well. in the end I was so stressed by the situation that I just left the house without claiming my rights that they know we cools a compensation for having made me live with the kitchen in that situation and a house full of mood, so think carefully before doing business with them... Giving these crooks one star feels like over rating. I don't know where to start, from refusing to speak to their customers, posting false and misleading adverts, being rude all the way to lying to me and to the landlord. Everything bad you can imagine, that's Descotia. I had the "pleasure" to have my case handled by Cherelle, I am speechless how rude and unhelpful this person is. I bet they are losing lots of customers because of her. Anyway, do not use this agency! They lie to everyone and when challenged they blame everyone else but not themselves. I was gonna report them to the property ombudsman and the trading standards but the landlord seems like a nice person who also made an honest mistake to use Descotia. Seriously, save yourself the headache and do not use Descotia... Read more

We had quite a mixed experience with De Scotia. Up until completion they did a number of things well - they were consultative and they did think outside of the box to solve some of the issues we have. They weren't pushy at all throughout the process and they generally kept us informed. Issues came on completion when we moved to the house - we had raised a number of times issues with the house being full of rubbish which we were assured would be cleaned. On arrival it wasn't clear and was a good £250 to get the rubbish (and furniture we explicitly said we didn't want) removed. Felt disappointed with this as we had flagged this as an issue 5-6 times before completing. The boiler was also broken and the drains were blocked - two more expenses (+£350). Overall a bit disappointing - they were working more in the interests of the seller, understandable but expected slightly better on move in.... Read more

After meeting with three agents, De Scottia were the chosen agent for a number of reasons. First being they were not pushing for a hard sale. Secondly, our agent Daniel quickly took note of the living situation with my elderly mother and took on board my comments of how fragile she is and to liaise with myself on everything to not stress her out. He was brilliant from the start. Very easy to get hold of, prompt and efficient. He explained everything to us and was more than happy to explain anything we didn't understand without making us feel silly. Daniel was happy to get his hands dirty and move boxes (and a large bed!) to get the photos he needed. When we went on holiday and he needed access he ensured he understood the alarm system and sent me texts whilst away to keep me update and assure me the alarm was put back on. Fantastic service and really pleased we went with them. Daniel gave us honest feedback and we had an offer within 2 weeks. Sale went through smoothly I would highly recommend. Daniel also gave me great advice when I was purchasing our new home. His knowledge on how much to offer etc was brilliant.... Read more

DeScotia provided a fantastic and professional service. I would like to give special thanks to Daniel who is extremely knowledgeable, polite and his communication skills were excellent which is essential when going through the stresses of buying and selling. The fact that they are an independent estate agent meant that Daniel dealt with the sale from the beginning right up to exchange of contracts rather than hand over to a progression team. Also like to thank Cherelle who is also very polite. All in all I had a very positive experience with DeScotia with the sale of my property and would highly recommend them.... Read more

Cherelle Heslop is excellent and a pleasure to deal with. She constantly provides updates and tried her best to arrange viewings for us to view a property that we wanna buy. Even though we did not go for the property in the end, it's been very lovely working with Cherelle. Thank you!... Read more

I have used De Scotia to let my property for over five years. They have always been efficient and nothing seems too much trouble for the great staff there. De Scotia have very recently organised a complete revamp of my property before letting it out again. They use good contractors who know what they are doing and tidy up afterwards. I have been very pleased with their work. Thank you to De Scotia.... Read more

We dealt with De Scotia when buying our first house. Very stressful experience. They were very difficult starting from arranging gas/electric inspection - senior negotiator had an incorrect mobile number in email signature which caused a lot of troubles when trying to synchronise arriving engineer for the inspection and in general, to get in touch. They were very inflexible with times, clearly one-sided, supporting only the seller, but not the buyer. When our solicitor found out that there is no legal parking on the property we were very disappointed with a misleading advertising as we stated during the viewing it is one of our main decision factors, at the time of the first viewing the agent assured us that the house had parking. When we started considering withdrawal of the offer after the seller did not want to go down with the price of the house (we decided it is too much hassle to apply to the council for legal arrangement and dropped kerb), the senior negotiator tried to blackmail us saying that if we had withdrawn, he would make sure no other agent in the area would sell us a house! Our solicitor said this threats were illegal, but we have never got any apologies for this, not to mention how stressful it was for us! Eventually, this was empty words only and we had withdrawn, but it was the worst experience with an estate agent we ever had. Avoid if you can!... Read more

I have used De Scotia as both letting and managing agents and they have been very professional. At times they have gone over and above the call of duty. For instance when a tenant had problems with condensation which caused mould spores to form the agent physically showed the tenant how to clean it and advised them on how to prevent it in future. Fantastic service and a very hands on personable team. I would highly recommend De Scotia... Read more

I rented a Flat off them in 2015. they took our money and had no problems putting us in the property. The property had not been cleaned, the oven was disgusting , there was still building materials and dust in the property, the furniture was broken and dangerous. They were the managing agent so they clearly had not inspected the property or maintained it well. The bathroom flooded about 2 weeks into the let. They released keys to an unqualified builder who spoke very little English without prior consent. I was alone in the house, heard a noise and found a strange man in my living room, turns out he was a builder. he used my hair dryer without asking to dry something and then broke it. this happened several times throughout the let. When I left after 6 month of continuous problems it took them 3 MONTHS to release my deposit! I had no deductions made and we were not in dispute, it was just poor management and there refusal to speak to me or answer calls. Stay away of this agency!... Read more
