FRAUD ALERT & FRAUDALENT ACTIVITIES & SCAM PRACTICES - Please be aware of this estate agent. As a tenant, I have fallen victim of their fraudulent practices and I am now owed £4.7k which I have been trying to recover for the past 3 weeks. I found a flat on 'Rightmove' which was advertised by Discover Residential and I called to schedule a viewing. Instead of discussing the flat with them directly, they referred me and told me to speak with this third party, the so called "Landlord's Representative" who they said manages the flat and used to work for them and is a friend of the owner of Discover Residential (Kartal Cetin). They said that they only advertise the property but I should deal with the Landlord's Representative directly. It all went well .. I liked the flat and paid 12 weeks rent in advance plus a deposit to Discover Residential's bank account. In a couple of months, a locksmith knocked on my door to change the front door's lock and he handed me over his phone to speak with another "Landlord Representative" who told me that the previous "Landlord Representative" was fake and that Discover Residential and the fake Landlord Representative had not been authorised to rent out the flat to me and I should leave. That person said that the Landlord wants to keep the flat empty because he is trying to sell it and he did not know that I was living in there. It turned out that Discover Residential also did not send the rental monies to the Landlord and all the monies were kept by them or the fake "Landlords Representative" - this part is not clear because Discover Residential are refusing to say what happened to the money and said that they could not comment on where the money went. My deposit was also not registered with TDS and they kept that too. Thank God I was home when the locksmith arrived, otherwise, how was I supposed to recover my belongings. I packed and left the flat in shock and I am now trying to recover my deposit and two weeks rent. Discover Residential is now saying that they do not manage the property and it is not their problem and they can't do anything. They told me to speak with the fake "Landlord Representative" in order to reach an agreement with him. Also, they keep saying that they don't know anything about me and my case (and pretend they were never involved) and keep avoiding to answer any of my questions such as: (1) What happened to the rent monies?; (2) Did you pay the Landlord the 12 weeks rent I had to pay in advance to the fake "Landlord Representative" who ambushed me to pay in bulk in order to secure the flat as there were "other candidates" - I had to find a place urgently so I agreed; (3) Do you have a contract with the Landlord?; (4) How did you have keys to the flat?; All the logical questions one would ask in such a situation. Also, it is very hard for them to argue to be "unaware" if all the rental monies plus deposit went through Discover Residential's bank account.... In brief, Discover Residential "washed" the money and facilitated a scam scheme for the fake "Landlord's Representative". I never thought this would happen in central London and after 15 years of renting I have never come across anything like this and I have never been a victim of rental property fraud. I guess there are no securities anymore. I just wanted to share my experience so people out there who are thinking of using Discover Residential are aware of the things this estate agent is facilitating. Please always stay careful.... I feel compelled to share my experience with Discover Residential, and unfortunately, it's far from positive. The level of service, communication, and overall professionalism displayed by this company is shockingly poor. From the beginning, the communication has been abysmal. I have struggled to get timely responses, and when I did, the information provided was often unclear or incomplete. The staff's attitude and behaviour have been consistently disappointing, reflecting a lack of professionalism and customer-centric approach. Customer service, or the lack thereof, is a significant concern. I have encountered numerous issues, and attempting to resolve them with Discover Residential has been an exercise in frustration. The team's dismissive attitude towards genuine concerns only exacerbates the problem. Discover Residential's unprofessionalism is evident in every aspect of their service. If more landlords shared their experiences on this platform, it would undoubtedly highlight the systematic issues plaguing this company. I strongly advise potential clients and landlords to avoid Discover Residential at all costs. There are countless other property management companies that prioritise professionalism, communication, and customer service. Unfortunately, Discover Residential falls significantly short in these areas, making them an unreliable and untrustworthy choice for any property-related services. ——————— In response to the below reply from discover residential, I find it confusing that you have stated I have not paid fees when you deducted £800 to pay yourself and stated, I quote “I am not charity”. Commission has always been paid to you with no refusal, the issue was you were taking money from my rent when you felt like it. Your reply displays your clear lack of professionalism and knowledge. My tenant did not want to liaise with you directly due to your poor communication, this says a lot about you as individuals and as a business you supposedly run. You advised the tenant to pay me directly and then stated the terms were broken as the tenant was paying me directly. I’m not quite sure why you are confused by your own actions? Thankfully, the tenant & I have a fantastic relationship and this has significantly improved since i have removed you from the equation. You have taken money for services you are refusing to provide up until November 2024 because of your lack of knowledge and common sense. I thankfully have not lost out in this situation and find it to be quite a positive experience that I no longer have to engage with you. I previously rented a room from Kartal Cetin. The viewing was arranged quickly, he was punctual and I took the room immediately. Maintenance issues at the property were handled without question including the replacement of fridge and washing machine at the tenants' request. He also functioned as a mediator and sent email reminders of agreed rules when housemates had disagreements.
