After deciding to sell our house in this difficult market we needed an estate agent with not only the experience and know-how, but we also needed one with marketing expertise and local knowledge, after speaking to several agencies (which were great) I came across Douglas Allen who on my first phone call was extremely POSITIVE and showed extensive knowledge of the market. I met Jess the following day who was really nice, and down to earth, she was confident that with the contacts they have within their extensive buyer’s database the house will be sold within a matter of weeks. The following week, (a day after the photos were taken) the house was viewed by a few potential clients they had dealt with before, and low and behold a buyer was found (before the pictures were displayed online). Once a price was agreed upon, I have been liaising with Jake, James, and Joe who have been absolutely superb…always keeping me up with every step of the process, and their team coordination has been exemplary.

Upon being informed, that my mum had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, I spend time trying to figure out what her dying wish was, so I could give her one final surprise. She told me she would love to live in a big house with myself, my brother and my sister one more time. Keeping in mind we all have families of our own.
She was very specific what kind of house she wanted. Detached, Big garden for the grandkids to run, local to the shops and stations, but walking distance from her beloved Epping forest and of course room for all of us.
A house with those specifications in Chingford, This was a unattainable task for any Estate agent or so I though. When I came across Douglas Allen, the person I started my contact with was Kaitlin Stoddart. I don't know what to praise, if I stared I would run out of words. but I will try and do her just for what she deserves.
Not only did she listen to me whilst I was crying my eyes out about my mothers situation, she was incredibly caring and shed tears hers self, that kind of humanity is found very far and in-between, particular in this toxic world we live in.
She took note of all my ridiculous demands and actively tried to find me a property, day in and day out. In all honesty I knew it was impossible to find what I wanted for the budget I had. But Lo and behold, she found it.
The very house my mum dreamed about, the house that gave her hope of a better tomorrow, she actually found it, this was a miracle for me, however there was only one problem, the property stopped taking viewings before I could request to do so.
Without hesitation Kaitlin spoke to several senior managers and fought my case and managed to get me a a viewing, Upon viewing it, I knew that this was it. Knowing that I couldn't match the current offer, I become disheartened, to be this close and yet so far.
But Kaitlin, didn't give up, she knew how much this meant to me, not just the house... but fulfilling my dying mothers last wish. She took time to look into my financial situation and explained that as a chain free buyer I would be more desirable to the sellers and so I went ahead and made and offer.
The process was difficult for me, having to take my mum to chemo therapy on a regular basis, and seen the woman I grew to know as indestructible, literally deuterate in front of my eyes, destroyed me.
I was so slow to respond, hard to get hold of, emotionally and had many outburst, but yet, despite all, Kaitlin stood besides me through out the process, not only in the matter of purchasing it as my agent, but even a therapist and friend.
I wish there where more people like her at the top end of the ladder, if she managed to assist me this much Senior Sales Consultant, Imagine what she could do if she managed the branch.
The example she would set for her staff to treat people not just as money bags like many other firms do, just trying to sell, no, but rather bring a human touch to what is a very stressful and demanding situation.
Kaitlin If you are reading this... There is nothing I could say or do, to payback the kindness you have provided through this difficult time, I hope other see the the shining start I do.

Refrain to use their in-house mortgage broker. You will find yourself left in the darkness with no feedback nor any tipe of communication. Good knowledge but poor customer sevice. The mortgage/legal process requires proactive communication but this is not the case here. Frustrating!!!

5 star's is not enough.
I was with an on line estate agent for 3 month's, the offers were below what we're willing to go, jess kept coming round saying she could get what we wanted and more people through the door who was in a better position to put offers on the table. In the end after being let down again I agreed.
I really wish I had not waited and let money dictate my decision, in a few WEEKS not months I had offers and a buyer for the amount we wanted.
Jess was true to her word, in fact the whole team at douglas allen were brilliant, always there if I needed anything and have kept me up to date.

I telephoned Douglas Allen Chingford, whilst on my way to view new property's in Wellingborough. The reason I contacted DA was because I had purchased in 2005 and was extremely happy with the service. That day an appointment was made for a valuation for James and Kaitlin to come round. They visited me last Friday and within less than a week I have had over 8 viewings without it even being online or pictures being taken. I have an offer already which is absolutely amazing. Tried to see a mortgage advisor, came to the first appointment, they said the person is at the training session, and they didn't book the appointment; second time, I had to re-schedule it, and they told me they booked an appointment two weeks from the day, called to confirm two hours before the appointment, it hasn't been booked again!
How can these guys be trusted with finding a house for me and my family, if they can't be trusted to book an appointment!
