I have never left a negative review in my life but for this I have to.. AVOID RENTING WITH FOXTONS AT ALL COSTS. I have been renting a property in Brixton for the past year and reported mould issues 4 months ago (20th May 2024) and to this day (27/08/2024) nothing has been done to rectify it. We have been back and fourth with property management (even crying down the phone) and they are still not letting us move out until we finish the tenancy length (2 year tenancy agreement). The flat is a basement flat and the bathroom doesn't have a window or an extractor fan which we informed foxtons was illegal to which they breezed over and OF COURSE haven't done anything about. We are now living in mould and seeking legal action to try and get out of our tenancy as Foxtons have told us on 3 occasions we have to find someone to replace it if we want to go. As you can see from the photos nobody should be living in these conditions. Every time we ring, our account manager is 'in a meeting' they take days/weeks to respond to a question. In regards to getting something fixed..we are yet to have one issue in our flat/tenancy fixed. If I could leave 0 stars, I would.... Read more

My experience with Foxtons over the years has been disappointing. While I've utilized their services for buying, selling, and letting properties, their reliability and organization have steadily declined. In recent years, dealing with them has become a headache due to their lack of organization and reliability. I am eagerly awaiting the end of the current tenancy agreements for my properties, so I can avoid further frustrations with Foxtons.... Read more

If you are working on auction, be careful if someone work with seller to get your deposit. I worked with Ahmed Ali, on foxton side, and bidx1, so not cool. I am also using their solicitor, completely in big trouble now which they created. be careful scammers-- 1. Misrepresentation of Property: The seller or their agent may have misrepresented the property's condition, value, or ownership status to entice you to put down a deposit. This could involve false claims about the property's amenities, potential for development, or rental income. 2.Failure to Provide Legal Documentation: Deliberately withholding essential legal documents, such as title deeds, property searches, or planning permissions, needed for your mortgage application could be part of a scam to prevent you from completing the purchase or securing financing. 3.Deposit Fraud: If you suspect that the agency has intentionally misled you to secure your deposit without intending to fulfill their obligations, it could be a form of deposit fraud. This might involve promising features or benefits of the property that do not exist or fabricating urgency to push you into making a deposit. 4.Collusion between Seller and Solicitor: In some cases, there could be collusion between the seller and their solicitor to withhold vital information or documents needed for the transaction. This could be part of a larger scheme to defraud buyers or extract additional funds.... Read more

Landlords Beware. Foxtons will charge you a large commission to manage your property, I would like to give you a flavour of what you get for this as a tenant: We had a broken shower, this took them six months to fix. This is because they outsource it to a company that then outsources the repairs to contractors. Meaning you will never get the same person doing the job. This company kept sending different people to do work, that the previous contractor established would not be sufficient to fix the issue. When asking Foxtons for help this amounted to nothing. Foxtons are useless and completely inept, there have large teams that are ready to take your phone calls but cannot do anything as they are not 'authorised', only managers can enquire to solve issues and they will never ever be available to speak to you. So far every issue we have had has not been straight forward. It has required myself to call every day for weeks on end to try and get Foxtons to solve it, if not they will do nothing. We are dealing with an infestation now and having reported it over a month ago I decided to call to get an update on the status I was told that nothing had been done they had not even contacted pest control. It baffles me as to how Foxtons is one of the largest letting agents in London with this type of service. I have made complaints and escalated complaints which have of course been ignored in true Foxtons style.... Read more

One star. I would provide none if the option was available. To be clear and for the avoidance of doubt, the review that follows covers this company in its entirety. This is not made in reference to any one particular group of staff employed by these people as there has been more than one poor experience at more than one of these branches. As far as the reviewer is concerned, as similar questionable tactics and behaviour have been witnessed when dealing with multiple staff in this company's employ, the selected location is appropriate for this review. This company, who label themselves 'london's estate agent' - clearly not the case based on the sheer volume of reviews to the contrary - seem to think that the standard form/s of behaviour towards and interaction with the british public do not for whatever reason apply to them. Having myself had to contact this group on more than one occasion only to find that selected parts of whatever information they had chosen to publish to one property platform or another - including Rightmove and OnTheMarket - was in fact either misleading or completely fabricated, I have yet to experience a single civil interaction with any of them based on the fact that all of the employees here appear to believe they can drop new information regarding their so-called 'listings' into a conversation as and when they please to. I am a busy person as most any individual who has made it to the point in life where they have to deal with this lot would be - and i do not want to or need to have to hear about all of the additional clauses or addendums attached to the sale or rental of a london property that them or their pals have decided to suddenly reveal while i am wasting my own valuable time calling them directly, which has to be done in order to circumvent their invasive automated text messaging which is clearly designed to drum up more prospective business for their own shop. I can honestly say that, with the exception of one other london bunch, this lot are a close second for the worst estate agents that i have thankfully never had to and will now never have to have anything more than cursory dealings with ever again.... I had an awful experience with Foxtons. I rented a property with them for nearly 5 years, after being informed that I needed to pay £600 per month by my landlord or else move out. I agreed to move out and the process of the return of my deposit was terrible. I was presented with deductions of nearly £450, which I didn't agree with. I presented my evidence on MY FOXTONS but their system would not process when I disagreed with the deductions. However, to my surprise their system miraculously processed when I agreed to a deduction for extra day rent. I have emailed, called but nobody came back to me. Finally, when I threatened to make a formal complain, someone replied to me requesting I request my deposit via MY DEPOSITS. They refused to process the refund of the part of my deposit, that wasn't in dispute and I had to provide all the evidence to initiate a dispute. Worse, 2 months down the line I still haven't received a penny. Avoid this company ripping off tenants!... Read more

Dear Foxtons Vauxhall Branch, I was a tenant in a Foxtons managed property between 2021-2023 (2 year contract). The tenancy was a complete nightmare from start to finish. For starters, upon moving in to the flat, the following issues were present: -broken glass on bedroom floor -exposed electrical wiring -no smoke detector -unusable kitchen -broken washing machine It took 6 weeks to get the broken glass and kitchen usable. It took a total of 4 weeks before we even received a response to 4 emails sent to different levels of management. During the tenancy the following issues were not dealt with appropriately: -broken washing machine for 3 months. I am a nurse who was working in covid intensive care at the time, believe me it was in everyone's interest for my clothes to be clean. Endless calls with no response (although after waiting on hold for 10+minutes, hanging up and calling back with a hidden number my call was answered in seconds...). No point in emailing or using their MyFoxtons portal. Sincerest apologies if I called to often, but I hope we can agree, 3 months is extreme. - oven and hob tripping electricity (no means of cooking). Took a week for an electrician to come and review. Told on the phone this will be booked. Called back 2 days later, put in hold and engineer booked straight away. Why lie? Finally, the deposit return. What a waste of everyone's time. £1400 is an actual joke. No response until 4 weeks after initial request for further evidence did I receive a telephone call. Miraculous reduction to £395 (cleaning fee removed along with fee for removal of non existent items). Do you have any idea the stress of holding this sum of money can cause? We received nothing, not even the undisputed amount back, until 8 weeks after the tenancy had ended. The call I received from Foxtons regarding the deposit was, in my opinion, close to blackmail. I was asked to accept the £395 deduction over the phone or let this go to the adjudicator. I asked for a follow-up email and advised that I will review. This was all a mistake. Foxtons proceeded to claim the original amounts from the Mydeposits rather than the reduced amounts. I fell for it and now I am worse off. Clearly, paying rent on time, in full every month, and not trashing the property is not enough. What should I have done? Called less when the washing machine was broken for 3 months? Accepted no means of cooking? Embraced the dangerous glass all over the floor? Just accepted the ridiculous deposit deductions? I will never rent, buy or let out properties through Foxtons. Believe me, all these reviews are true- it is not worth your time. Ps. If they're not answering your call, try hiding your number. Worked a charm for me. Yours sincerely EDIT: No reply from Foxtons despite providing all requested information. More time wasted replying to emails that go unanswered. I suppose this was never and will never be looked into.... Read more

This is the worst managed service of any estate agents I have ever used. Landlords DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Absolutely useless. It took me 2 months and over 4 calls and 5 emails to the branch and head office to find out who was ‘managing my property’ They didn’t pay me for over 3 months. Took them over a month to find a misplaced payment from tenants, which they didn’t even notify me about, I had to keep checking. Took them a week to respond, Once they did respond they didn’t resolve anything , I had to speak to the tenant directly and then chase them. I have a live water incident, my assigned ‘manager’ went on leave and didn’t hand it over to anyone so yet again I will be contacting the tenants and rectifying the incident. DO NOT USE THEM EVER.... This review is based off of my fiancé and I’s experience in the Foxtons main office in Chiswick. My fiancé was interviewing for a position within this company. This was interview 1 out of 2 in person interview. I accompanied the interview site with him as I had my own business in the local area but before his interview (we do not live close to Chiswick). We were both dressed appropriately. Upon arrival, we had a positive experience. The main lobby receptionist sent us both up to the 1st floor, which is where Foxtons was operating. We were greeted there, offered seating as well as complimentary water. We waited for around 5 minutes, and then my fiancé was greeted by a member of the talent acquisition team that had been communicating with him beforehand. The woman who was leading the interview came by and greeted my fiancé and I. She then asked me whether or not I wanted to wait on the 1st floor or the ground floor as the interview would be taking place on the ground floor, and they wouldn’t be heading back up. Since there was no point staying up on the 1st floor, I chose to wait in the main lobby area on the ground floor. This interview lasted about an hour. When he was done, he was told he would be notified within 24 hours whether or not he’d be offered the 2nd in person interview. The next day, my fiancé had received a call from the same member of the talent acquisition team who greeted him the day prior. He had relayed to my fiancé that he “smashed” the first interview, and offered him the second in person interview with the managing director. Then proceeded to ask what I was doing there. My fiancé then told him that I had business in the local area before his interview, and that I was just waiting for him. The man told my fiancé to not bring me to the next interview or to tell me to “wait in a Starbucks” with no explanation as to why. This left a bad taste in our mouthes, and since no reason was given we were left to assume it was because I am asian. My fiancé decided to attend the 2nd interview, and I did not attend this time. This interview lasted 10-15 minutes. After this interview, he was told again that we would be notified within 24 hours whether or not he had gotten the job. They made a point to say after both interviews “we contact every interviewer even if they’re unsuccessful, to give them things to work on in the future.” They still have not contacted him and it has been 3 weeks. We have tried contacting them on multiple occasions (emails, calls), and no response. Upon doing more research, I have seen multiple other accusations of racism and discrimination. Which is why I decided to write this review. Very unprofessional, and discriminatory. If they are treating potential employees this way, then I am worried how they treat their landlords/tenants. Customer service seems to be the least of their concerns.... Read more

Landlords beware. As a tenant I find the property management appalling. Foxtons are great at collecting rent but do not respond to maintenance issues. They also send out initial contractors to quote on repair work, which is then subcontracted out. The sub contractor always arrives unbriefed and the work is never checked by either the original contractor or the property manager. I have outstanding maintenance issues since January and have not received any returned phone calls or response to emails since we received a new property ‘manager’ in June this year. Unfortunately foxtons approach of reactive maintenance instead of proactive means all these repair jobs will cost the landlord more than if they are fixed when first raised... Read more

Very expensive and awful agent Very expensive and awful agent. I use them to do the full management Of renting, also I use them to sell my property in the end. For renting part, they charge the most expensive fees than others with bad service. my tenant told me they never reply her which makes her has no choice AND NEED TO CONTACT ME TO CALL THEM. if you have something need to repair, they always give a much higher price than other builders. when my tenant left, they didn't check the paid bills of water gas and electric. which made me had to paid the rest of the bills my self in the end . For selling part, they charge 3 percent, this is much much higher than others, normally other agents just charge for 1 percent. They don't stand on the landlord side, but just try to make you spend more money on re painting or re do other of buildingwork of the house. And always try to push you to sell your property if you got a offer which you are not happy with. Just 1 day before my completion , they called me that I need to remove all the thing from my house. to be honest, there is only 1 king size bed left, but I can not arrange for any one come to pick up because it is too late. I have to do it my self. However I dont live that area now, it takes long time for me to travel. Everyone who is renting or selling all should aviod this greedy company. I have been looking to buy a property in a particular area of Isleworth and the branch have my contact details. They call every now and then to suggest properties they have available however they have not been been ideal for me so I have declined their offer to view in person. Today they had a new property come on the market and the agent (Sherri or Shari?) called me. I told her that it was not something I was interested however she started to pressure me to come for a viewing. Having politely declined, she kept pressing and wanted me to give the reasons why I was not interested. She then started to question my reasons and was borderline aggressive in her approach. Been trying to contact our property manager for well over a week with emails and calls. Cannot get one returned call or email. Rent for this month is unpaid due to Foxtons not having emailed the tenants the payment link (tenant more than happy to pay the rent directly to us, thankfully). I asked Foxtons to come and value our house with the possibility of putting on the market with them. An agent came from the Crouch End office and did an acceptable job in laying out the conditions and possible sale price. Following this I replied to a text from the same agent saying I'd decided to go with another agency - I had no reply to this message. Following the above I was pressured/hassled a number of times by phone and email by someone at the same office and despite replying twice I failed to get a reply. I then wrote - as per Foxtons guidelines - to the branch and again received no reply? The Foxtons website describes its complaints procedure in some detail and states that one should escalate a complaint to an area/senior manager - this you cannot do as no contact details are given - making it a dead end in reality. I'd really struggle to recommend Foxtons following this performance.... Read more

My experience with Foxtons has been the worst I have ever had and here I explain why: Some friends and I rented a house with this agency thinking it was a good one, however from minute one we realized that it was not. Since the beginning we realized that we had made a mistake renting a house with this agency. The day we moved in, the house was still dirty, with stuff from the old tenants, etc. so we complained to the agency, so that they could came to get all those things, which took months to come and collect. Soon after, the whole problem of the pandemic began, which made things even worse. Most of us lost our jobs, and one of the people who lived with us left the house without saying anything to us but to the agency, which let her go without problem, making the rest of us responsible of everything. With the whole problem of the pandemic, we were supposed to try to make an agreement with them, which with Foxton´s was completely impossible. For us it was a year of extra stress, a year of trying every single day to reach an agreement that would benefit us both, an agreement that never came. With all this I want to say that I would never rent with this agency again, apart from not recommending it to anyone!... Read more

We purchased a property in March in Isleworth and though Foxtons were not my agents as the buyer, the whole team treated me with such respect and professionalism. Saijal set the tone from the top, and ably supported by Pam, Ed and their whole support team. They helped manage the chain (including my own sale), co-ordinating between the various agents and solicitors, and they duly kept me informed at all stages of the process. It was never too late for them to take my calls, and going this extra mile gave me such confidence. More than this, they were always courteous and respectful over phone and email, and they always accommodated me when I asked to visit the property with family and builders. I would highly recommend anyone using them in future - don't be too tempted by other agents with lower commissions, you get great value from Foxtons and they make a house purchase/sale almost an enjoyable experience!... Do not be fooled by the corporate image. The Foxtons team were awesome. I’ll try not to make the experience sound too good, however, my house was on the market for approximately two years with three local agents at price ranges from offers above £999,999 to £1200000.. Foxtons’ approach was clear and simple. We had an open day resulting in 10 viewings & 3 offers and together Saijal (the manager) and I chose what was the best buyer for me. Edward, the sales negotiator, gave me regular updates and helped in accommodating requests from the buyer which we adhered to. From start to finish I felt I was in safe hands which was not the case with other agents. I would recommend Saijal, Edward and Foxtons to anyone who want a professional service. Do not give your keys to them if you are a landlord. The property manager, at Baltimore Wharf, where my apartment is, informed Foxtons of a leak in the ceiling on January 5th. It took them 4 months to get it fixed, even though the "Full Management" service states that they have access to 24hr contractors. During the 4 month delay a small leak became a flood and caused £10,000 worth of damage. They refuse to acknowledge any responsibility and treat me like dirt after 10 years of charging me above average fees. I have now given up dealing with their uncaring staff and am taking legal action, and looking for a more professional letting agency.... Read more

Foxtons is very helpful when you want to rent from them (=give them money), but it pretty much stops there. Property management depends completely on the person who manages your property. During a 7-year tenancy, we had 5-6 different property managers, 2 of them good, rest of them an absolute mess. The good ones actually responded to emails/calls, and got things fixed. The bad ones did not know how to communicate at all, left us hanging for a week with a massive leak from out kitchen ceiling that affected our electrics and made the lamp flicker like crazy. No response, no help, just a dark kitchen with a bucket on the floor. So it really depends if you are lucky enough to get a property manager who cares at all. The fact that we had a different person almost every year says something about Foxtons as a company, if their staff turnover is so big. And now, when we wanted to leave the flat... what a nightmare!! We sent a written termination of tenancy to Foxtons, and nothing happened for about 4 weeks. Then suddenly, our phones started ringing constantly. They wanted to book about 5 visits/week to our flat, either for market value estimation, photography, general check, viewings for different people etc. This would have probably been fine last year (although annoying), but now, during coronavirus times I found this completely unacceptable. I understand that these need to be done, but there are ways to make it safe for everyone. There was not the slightest try from Foxtons to arrange as little visits as possible (e.g. do photography and other stuff on the same visit). They also kept calling us with less than 10h notice that they wanted to bring someone to view the flat. When I raised this issue via email, that I do not think it's right to bring strangers into our home multiple times a week every week until we leave during a global pandemic, and asking if they could for example arrange one viewing day/week and bring the people in stages, they called my husband to ask "what exactly is the problem here". They basically ignored me completely, did not respond and called my husband to try to sort the matter out. We were also sent multiple emails with wrong information, for example wrong dates and times for Check-out reports. When we emailed back to ask is this wrong, we never got a response. And then there's issues with deposit, of course. MyFoxtons portal asks for the tenant to wait and that the deposit will usually be returned about 10 days after the vacate date. We waited, and then emailed about 2 weeks later when there was no communication. We received an email apologising for the delay (blaming coronavirus lock down of course, even though they can easily work from home during a lock down), saying that we should get an update by then of the week (it was Wednesday). Another 2 weeks passed, and no information. I sent another email, another week passed and no response. I sent another email, and then finally, 6 weeks after the vacate date we received information stating that there will be deductions on our deposit (also wrongly held for a clean we are not obligated to pay, as we were not provided a clean when moving in). We disputed it, and had to wait for 12 days again before we got a response, that actually did not respond to any of our complaints, just said that the comments have been passed to the landlord, which I already knew. The non-disputed part of the deposit has now been returned, 2 MONTHS LATER, but no news at all for the disputed part that is still held by Foxtons. I think this is all absolutely disgusting, they are very keen on getting you in their flats and taking your money, but when it comes to helping the tenant or respecting their rights when they want to leave, the customer service is non-existent. We were their tenants for 7 years (not sure why) always paid our rent on time and never cause any kind of trouble, and get treated like this. Avoid their flashy lights they put up when you're looking for a home, it only goes downhill from there.... Read more

My experience with Foxtons as a first time buyer has been absolutely horrible. After a lot of searching around we finally reserved a property in hounslow by the builder bath road homes Ltd, the agents name was Siyana. After reservation, we went on to complete all formalities. Applied for help to buy and also had it approved. We were now in process of applying for the mortgage. And it was then that I get a call from Foxtons that the reservation is being pulled back saying the seller found another person who has offer a higher sum. And this call comes from the manager of Siyana. I didn’t even receive a single call from Siyana. And the funny part is that this property is still on the market. We were put through the whole process of buying this property and then told we can’t have it. As a first time buyer, this is soo discouraging. Do Not Rent they will leave you Homeless I have a very bad experience just now with them I rented a property in mid May of 2020 on the pandemic and I was very happy after paying and referencing we signed the contract on the 20th of May. The start of tenancy started on 15th of June, but on the 12 of June the manager called and said there was a leak at the property and we couldn’t move in straight away we had to wait a couple of days. On Monday since no one called or emailed I called and found out that they don’t have any answers. Every day since I’ve called and they didn’t pick up, couldn’t help and eventually after 5 days mr. Liam spoke to us and said someone will call, no supprise when no one called at the end of business day on Friday we called again and property management and they said we should stop calling because someone will call us. Of course nobody called and we ended up waiting until Monday , that when it happened: we called Property Management and spoke to Them and he said that our contract it’s cancelled and there’s nothing we can do about it and that it was cancelled last week, of course even without emailing us or anything and that the refund was on it’s way. I called The agent and spoke to her she was very evasive and when I asked about proof of the cancellation of contract and everything she said yes but never actually sent me anything. Worst agency. I am an international student in London and I have been unable to live in a flat managed by foxtons for more than a month. As confirmed by a contracting agency, the damp, mould and water stains in the walls leave the flat in unlivable conditions!! Not only are they inefficient but they also fail to take any responsibility for the suffering they made us go through. We still don’t have an inventory list, the agency hadn’t checked the flat before giving us the keys, we were promised (by contract) professional cleaning and only got a somewhat cleaning service after 2 weeks and several complaints, the old tenants’ stuff were still all over the flat and the windows, walls and furniture are in extremely bad shape (cracks, mould...). We are really going through hell. After a month, we got a few fixings that undermined the experts’ recommendations just so they could pay the least. We are still in a constant battle to make the flat livable so a word of advice: Don’t choose FOXTONS.... Read more

I usually share positive experiences on social media, but I do believe that customers should share both kind of experiences after what we suffered with Foxtons so that no one gets frustrated like we did. In brief, we approached Foxtons from overseas to rent an apartment for 3 months and we have chosen the apartment/flat after viewing the online images on their website/app which happened to be photoshopped even though we have communicated with a sales agent “Alex” who handed over the keys at Foxtons Brixton office claiming that she viewed the flat before handing over the keys. We were shocked when we arrived to the apartment/flat as it was not cleaned professionally (to be accurate Dirty) and the Mattress was uncovered with big stains on it not to mention too many things needed Maintenence from the kitchen (water tap leakage, dismantled wooden parts broken tiles) to the fridge where the freezer door was broken as well as the toilet/loo shower temperature regulator was not working and the shower hose leakage plus the stains on the carpet to burn lamps and so on... horrible! As per the agreement/contract Foxtons & the landlord were supposed to secure WiFi connection in the flat but they didn’t so after getting an approval from the landlord we purchased WiFi for 3 months from Vodafone UK and the amount was Not refunded. Also before you leave the apartment you should get a professional cleaning company which we did but because we did not get the cleaning company via Foxtons they deducted £240 for one bedroom flat! Cherry on top of the cake, Foxtons sent an email claiming that there were some damages that didn’t exist when we handed over the keys and deducted the deposit! Foxtons do not respond to your emails promptly when there is anything related to Maintanance or deposit refund but when they need a payment they follow up all the time. Everyone should be careful when dealing with Foxtons as they do NOT return your deposit as per the contract and email communications. Worst experience with a real estate agency we’ve ever had. I personally do NOT Recommend them at all very unprofessional & dishonest. #Foxtons #Foxtonslondon... Read more

Tenancy department is the worst thing ever. Once they have you they literally don't care about it. If you are a landlord you are better off dealing with tenants yourself as they will disappear. We have been trying to agree on inventory related stuff since June. Stuff that we directly contacted and agreed with the landlord in five minutes. They blatantly lied to us and to landlord with regards to compensation for repairs that have been promised and not done. The worst scum there is in all honesty.... Read more

The worst agency experience of my life. I am talking about the agency on Sloane Square, I rent an apt 2 weeks before moving and paying everything in advance, so they have a lot of time to fix all the broken things in my flat. When I arrived I discovered that the heating wasn't working, a window was broken, the sink in the bathroom and in the kitchen are broken too and there is a huge water leak. Of course the agents not only lied about it but also when I report this mess they did nothing about it. Right now is 1 week that I am sleeping with no heating and with a broken window in the middle of the winter in London. Do a favour to yourself DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY.... Read more
