Really great experience with the team at IMS. They were able to help me out with a foreign income mortgage and were always on hand to help out. When complications arose, Michelle, the CEO was always available on hand even on weekends, and out of hours to help push our application through. Sadly I rarely write bad reviews, but I feel this is worth sharing.
We were forced to use IMS Bicester through the developer of a house we wished to purchase making it impossible to go elsewhere. It's worth noting the mortgage didn't go ahead, so we only used IMS for the initial mortgage-in-princple stages but the service received was so poor I'm glad it went no further.
We dealt with Lewis. From the very first phone call I was wary of dealing with him. His casual disregard of terms and conditions and blasé attitude was not something I felt comfortable with (very much reminded me of a used car salesman). Having called up and requested to speak to someone else we were convinced that everything was fine, and despite my asking for a different meeting were encouraged to go ahead with him as no other appointments were available.
Obviously he was made aware we had called, which made the whole relationship awkward and uncomfortable. Fine... we could deal with that.
What infuriated us further was his complete lack of explanation for anything going forward. Sending incorrect documents through and forcibly urging for a signature without explaining what is was or why it was required, just that "we can't go any further if it wasn't signed". Also, if he advises he'll "get XX done by the end of the day", be prepared to add another week on to that. He also does not respond to any questions in emails, or in fact emails at all unless there is something he needs.
The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is another IMS mortgage advisor, who we were passed over to (without being informed) last minute. This advisor, Madelaine, was most helpful and, had we been able to proceed, we would have been grateful to work with her. I'm also friends with someone who has used this company previously (with another advisor) and they had nothing but good things to say, so I feel this may just be the behaviour of one person rather than a whole representative.

After initial teething troubles that were dealt with amazingly, IMS have been ace. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't even have known I could buy a property, and they have guided me ever since.
IMS being independent and local has made such a difference, as I've been able to pop in and meet them all, which then has the knock on effect of being able to have email exchanges with people I knew to be friendly faces. I absolutely would use them again. mainly because they're just so friendly, and quite frankly that's exactly what you need amidst the stress of house buying.
Lastly, a big shout out to Hayley who has not once cracked under my volley of emails asking "has my mortgage been approved yet??" at least once a day for two weeks. How she stayed patient with me is beyond me!
