Where to start...

My partner & I were planning on relocating to the area and enquired about a property advertised online. To start, Chancellors Bicester were quite helpful and showed us 3 other potential properties.

We were booked in to view all of them (one viewing cancelled on the day) and were pleased with one of the properties, so made an offer.

One of the properties we viewed had a very unusual situation with the landlord where they had an offer through Chancellors, as well as an offer through a friend. The landlord hadn't accepted either offer, and seemed to be messing everyone (including Chancellors) around. Regardless, this doesn't look great on Chancellors dealing with such sketchy and unreliable clients.

My partner & I made sure all relevant documentation and information required to proceed with our offer was completed quickly and sent to Chancellors for them to make an offer to the landlord.

On the phone we were told our offer had been accepted, and with the property being vacant we were asked if could we move in 4 weeks earlier, which we couldn't. However, we were able to be accommodating and managed to organise for us to move in 2 weeks earlier than originally planned.

We chased multiple times for written confirmation of the offer being accepted and proceeding to the next step (which was never received), this is where things started going down south very quickly with Chancellors Bicester.

All of a sudden, work needed to get one to the property (which wasn't a condition of our offer or the agreement moving forward). We then were told we were unlikely to move in at the agreed date and it would be a couple/few weeks later than expected - which would have left my partner & I temporarily homeless due to us accommodating the landlord's timeline and requests.

We consistently requested for the pre-rental agreement checks process to start, of which we were fobbed off by Chancellors Bicester, saying the landlord doesn't want to start the process or look at providing a written contract without the work being completed on the property. This wouldn't have been completed until our original move-in date.

We later found out our application was never properly processed (when speaking to a different Chancellors branch, who said they didn't see our application or advanced situation on their system (which is connected up to all other branches). They confirmed that they had seen other information in their system, such as viewings and email correspondence.

Every time we called our contact at Chancellors Bicester, they were "always on the other line" and would take days to return my call. They also slipped up one occasion saying that they saw me calling in but couldn't answer as they were "just so busy". When I called on a different or a withheld number, conveniently our contact always picked up and was caught off guard.

My partner called on different occasions and the situation was always presented in an exaggerated positive light, which wasn't the case, nor was it represented in that way to me during the advanced discussions when things were getting worse.

We would have never know the above information if we hadn't chased up or spoken to other branches of our own accord. This branch was horrendous and nothing like the service we experienced with the other Chancellors branches.

We had to withdraw interest in the property in the end, as we were running out of time to find, view and proceed with other properties.

They couldn't get my first name right - one day I was Alan, Andrew or James, nor could they spell my surname correctly.

I would avoid Chancellors Bicester at all costs, unless you're happy with poor service, lack of communications or being told outright lies on a regular basis.

Chancellors were extremely helpful and supportive of us when purchasing our first house. In particular we dealt with Liam and Alistair who couldn't have been more helpful. Dismal management service:
Started a new tenancy late October.
Chancellors are managing the property.
On Check in there were a few important issues which needed resolving. First email was sent on 7th November, reminder 15th December with no response to date.
Dismal, non existent, unprofessional after service.

Absolutely appalling service. No one from the Slough branch will ever call you or respond to your queries. Head office will book viewing and then when you call for a confirmation they say "oh we are a support network, we cannot do anything". Wouldn't reccomd you going through these agents. Completely rubbish and waste of time. They need to get their act together. Sellers beware. Buyers, avoid at all cost.

I have just sold my property via Chancellors....

Firstly, I was given an unrealistic valuation of the property, to convince me to sign an agreement that will not allow me to sell the property myself or via another estate agent.

2 weeks after signing, I was told I need to reduce the price of my property by £70,000 in order it for sell, we decided only to drop this by £40,000 and still managed to get the sale.

We was told Chancellors will be managing all viewings and that there experience sales team will help get the sale in by meeting customers and talking about all the benefits etc. We had 8 customers come and view the property and chancellors did not attend any viewings and we was the sales people on the day talking to the customers about the property.

Once we had an offer from the customer, they gave the customer my personal phone number and he than just spoke with myself directly about 2nd viewings and solicitors requirements etc, Chancellors did not get in touch at all.

We had a call from Chancellors on the day of completion and asked us to drop the keys to the Slough office.

So from us signing the contract and selling the house, we met 1 person twice. They did not attend any viewings or help get the sale done in any way.

I feel I was conned out of £5700+VAT.

I hope my review helps anyone making a decision on who to use.
