Tom has been great throughout the process…he explained things you don’t understand to you in a way that even a lam would understand. The part I love the most is how fast Intercounty reply to my emails it is almost as if I was having a face to face chart with Tom, he replies my mails very fast even when I delay to reply him he kept on prompting me. Again the reference process is top notch the bot charts with you an collect your details without stress. I have enjoyed every bit of my apartment renting journey with Intercounty. Intercounty handled all phases very professionally including, most recently, the sale which proved to be challenging at times and protracted, stretching across several months involving three purchasers. From the moment we had a valuation done by Karl, he and the Intercounty team have been fantastic. The first thing that really stood out to me was the marketing. Their write-up was far superior to our other agent’s and they clearly paid attention to detail. They have kept in regular contact, updating us on the market and buyer mindset when our house was not shifting at first, and advising us on price adjustments and how to ensure the most effective viewing experience. They have been the complete opposite of our other well-known high street agent, who has barely contacted us and never given us updates without us asking first. Karl sent details of our property out to hundreds of people and was tenacious right through to confirming a sale. He helped guide us while negotiating offers. Once we accepted an offer, he was in constant communication, giving detailed updates and ensuring a smooth transition into using solicitors to process the sale. Karl has been honest and candid from the start which has really helped guide us with the price of our property and meant we trust him. That is so important in an agent-seller relationship. I left a review 4months ago during the early stages of a sale that has now completed. Since then, notwithstanding the problems with the housing/mortgage market in the wake of the “mini budget,” Intercounty have managed to keep the sale on track.
Despite a small reduction in price at one stage, they were able to sell the house for a sum which was more than the asking price that had been set back in May and substantially exceeded one of the other local valuations that I received at that time. I think the outcome was an excellent achievement in the circumstances.
The staff were all friendly and open to deal with and I felt very confident that Katie was looking after my interests as a client. She kept things moving, kept me informed, and tackled any issues assertively and with a clear head. She was really excellent to work with and there was good support from the rest of the team.
I haven't sold a house for well over 30 years and I'm fairly “old school” and when I first walked into Intercounty's open plan office it all seemed a bit more casual than I was expecting. I'm glad I wasn't put off; they know their business and, on the basis of this sale, I would definitely recommend them.

This review was done at the behest of Karl, just after he had secured in principle a sale of our property. I was in truth uncomfortable about writing anything until such time as I knew what he and his team may be like in actually following through on a verbal sale to full completion, but against my better judgement and thinking that if I gave a nice review he might well look after us I wrote the below.
Some months later it has transpired that no such service has been forthcoming and the sale in question is now extremely circumspect. As such I retract the below statement. When tested over the duration, the team has not performed.
Karl has been professional and polite at all times and ultimately delivered on his promises, which is rare in todays world. We have used Intercounty before and have always found them to be more sympathetic to the pressures and emotions of buyers and sellers alike, more so than other agencies and Karl has continued to build on this reputation.

We are a tenant through this agency and all the staff are helpful. When we report issues they liase with the owner and organise servicepersons to come by at times around our schedule and every contractor they have ever sent (in two years with a plethora of issues) has been polite and professional and helpful and genuinely motivated to get the job done well- not just a patch up job.
If I were a landlord I would be happy to use this company as they do inspections - take photos and keep electronic records of issues raised with these pictures so if you call up, whomever is working can easily be up to speed about the issue.
As a tenant they are fair and responsive and always call you back, are happy to receive emails with videos and pictures of issues and keep you in the loop so you can plan your life around repairs - and in our case plan our pups to be either out or aside.

Our main point of contact was Lauren. Constantly had to chase her up to carry out the most basic of requests. Literally acted like she couldn’t care less. Not very informative didn’t really seem like she had any clue on what she was doing. As a whole every person we have dealt with within this branch and the property management company have been incompetent and lazy. Really painful experience with them overall.

My husband and I have used intercounty on many occasions for both sales and Lettings. I cannot fault them. Andrew is always a great manager and very on the ball. We have just sold our house through them and I have to say a very very special thank you to Jenny and Lois. They both went above and beyond to push everything through, dealing with adversity and me constantly calling. Their customer service is the best I’ve come across, they genuinely care about their customers. If I was staying in Essex, I’d never use any other agent. Those girls kept me sane. We predominantly dealt with Jenny who always responded quickly and helpfully to emails, and was tenacious with progressing (chasing the buyers' solicitors who were slow to deal with various items), and general liaison.
All in all, a very positive experience, and would most certainly recommend Intercounty, and would definitely use again.

Agreed. Belittling and unprofessional to say the least! In the time I was in contact with them about a purchase I spoke to 9 people (Stortford and Leicester branch too) and not one of them was a qualified solicitor. I was nice to begin with, until issues were not resolved in a timely manner. It's not just management, it is individuals that make work very hard for first time buyers.
One of the agents told me that the flat I was purchasing was going to go back on the market in an effort to get me to push the sale, even the seller was not aware of this. What's worse is it was still in the previous applicants name. This has still not been resolved and it has been 6 months since the purchase was agreed.
Numerous occasions I tried to contact my "solicitor" (conveyancer) and numerous occasions the conveyancer never replied. Answers were not direct and completely without interest. Not sure why we even pay these people if all they do is mediate for the banks.
You have probably paid a lot of money for their service so don't expect to get any help with aftercare.
One of the staff members came in and watched the TV, personal items were moved, we let Intercounty enter flat we were renting from them. All trust was withdrawn and they were wondering why we were no longer letting them in unattended.
I have given up contacting them now. I asked if there were any outstanding payments that were needed to be paid upon the purchase and they said "NO". A couple of weeks ago I received a bill for £550 for the previous lease holder in 2015. Called Intercounty, again, the conveyancer was not available and will get back to me... Forget it.
Pros: Jenny is nice and helpful, that is all.

We rented a flat through Intercounty Great Dunmow recently. Here's my review.
Positive points - they're friendly.
Negative points.
Firstly they gave us a faulty key. The first time my partner got to try it was 1am after a long shift, and he had to wait for two hours in his car in the cold before I heard the phone ring. No apology from Intercounty. We asked them to get us a working key, but they told us it wasn't their responsibility (and they told us they didn't hold any other keys, which turned out to be a lie. Well, their spare key was also broken, but they didn't know that until a lot later, when a potential buyer turned up to view the property!).
They provided us with incorrect account details of the landlords for the standing order, leading to wasted time for both us and the landlords. Again, no apology.
They then instructed the landlords to get the boiler checked, shortly after check-in. The landlords were in the process of organizing it, when my partner remembered reading in the literature that it had been done about 2 weeks previously! Luckily he saved the landlords some unnecessary expense.
A month after moving out, we got an email from from Intercounty asking where we left the keys. Obviously we left them with Intercounty, where else! I told them so, and pointed out that they made a copy of them, and we had signed a form. They then emailed back asking for a copy of the receipt! At this point we'd had enough, so I told them to remove my email address and phone number from their records. It didn't help that the emails lacked any sort of grammar, punctuation etc. It looked like it had been written by an 8 year old. It also wouldn't take a genius to realize that the check-out team had managed to access the flat a day after we vacated, so even if they are that disorganized, they could surely have asked the check-out team who they returned the keys to!
To summarize, they are friendly, but I wouldn't trust them to manage any of my properties!

Dunmow office worst estate agent i have ever dealt with. Checked out 9 days ago havnt heard a peep. Still have my £3k deposit! I have called the office 5 times spoken to various staff who all said they would get back and still nothing!! Going to report to ARLA if it doesnt get sorted tomorrow by 5pm. On top of that i left my pool table at the property which the landlord agreed to buy off me. Have i seen a penny? Of course not. Is it that hard to get back to me instead of saying on the phone you will "look in it" and then not calling me back. Useless.
