
I decided to use King & Chasemore as my flat was rented out through them and I wanted to try and keep my tenant in place if possible. We started with the agent giving us a high valuation and then basing the fee on this valuation.
The details that were being produced by some outsourced agency, were constantly wrong. It was as though the person putting the document together, had never ever seen what the end product should look like. One problem was fixed, that would cause another and then back to the original. No version control was instigated, I think it took about 3weeks to get the 6 page details acceptable.
Then a subset went on the websites, but changed and were wrong again.
About 2months in I was asked to reduce the price, but not the fee. After four months I was asked to reduce the price again. This time I insisted the fee was changed in line with the price, which it was. However, it took several attempts to get the websites correct again. The flat then sold, but my solicitor was not informed, instead the agent instructed their own. When I found out they had to start over again with my solicitor, who's details they had, but seemed to have lost.
Throughout the whole transaction, I had to chase for updates, every time I left messages for the agent, he states he never got them. In the end he gave me his mobile so I could at least contact him. Very poor!
