I have been a client of Mcconnells for over15 years and am very pleased with their service.
Their tenant referencing technique has delivered long term tenants, no rent arrears and minimal dilapidations. This leaves me a happy landlord. Their advice when sought or offered is spot on.
I have found the staff helpful and professional.

Where do I even start? Literally the best estate agents I’ve ever worked with. I was guided by Amanda who is literally amazing, kind and professional. She helped me a lot as a first time buyer. Gave me advice throughout the property I wanted and has really been efficient with the aftermath of my offer being accepted. She definitely deserves a promotion!
Everytime I call their office the staff are so warm and friendly. Debbie and Clare you both have great customer service and are extremely helpful always putting me through the appropriate people to talk too.
Also Dean, the most friendliest guy I’ve spoken too, so lovely and always assisting me if Amanda wasn’t available. I’ll never forget you’re advice on helping me though this process especially when I was calling everyday.

I'm very happy with McConnells as it was our first time selling up and had no idea what was involved. Amanda from the team there was great, very informative and great at getting things moving along swiftly. I'm surprised McConnells stuck with us as they sold our property 3 times, the first the buyer pulled out then on the second covid hit and the mortgage company wouldn't give us the mortgage we wanted so we had to pull out but then third time lucky we are now in our new home, each time McConnells sold our last place within couple of weeks, where as other properties in our development had been on there for months. I would most definitely recommend them if you are selling up they really made it less of a headache than I was anticipating. Thank you!

Disgraceful company. Nothing is done professionally or correctly. Rented through a nil deposit scheme, which they had very little knowledge of and was then completely screwed over after leaving the property. Two months later, I'm being threatened with legal action to replace a (poor quality) carpet at an extortionate cost and to pay to clear weeds in the garden that was over grown when I moved in. Wish I'd claimed for the amount of bleach I needed to use when I moved in to it to get it to an acceptable living standard.
Advice is to get everything from this company in writing and make sure you keep a copy of your inventory, as they will conveniently lose the one you send back and any pictures.

I have been very fortunate to have always lived in my own home, so I have never had a reason to utilise the services of a letting agency. However, having accepted an offer for the sale of my primary residence, I decided to rent for a short while to allow myself ample time to search for my new and forever home.
I found the perfect rental property managed and marketed by McConnells. With zero knowledge of letting agents, my expectations were uncertain, but from my first contact and conversation with Amanda of McConnells, I experienced an immediate reassuring and comforting feeling, that I was in safe hands. This was borne out by the highest level of personal customer care, efficiency and professionalism received from the whole team. Sue initially conducted the property viewing, having rearranged her plans at a moments notice to accommodate my tight schedule. Her initial warm welcome, leading on to her extremely well presented tour of the property brought out an uncontrollable child like excitement in me. I feel quite indebted to her, for her kind assistance which secured the ideal apartment to suit our immediate needs.
Having been unwillingly forced and grown used to processing everything online over recent years, it was ever so refreshing to be taken through all the relevant documentation and then receive hard copies in a bound file format. This provided another level of clarity about the whole process, instilling further confidence that everything had been accurately dealt with.
Based on this experience, I would not hesitate to recommend McConnells to my family, friends, or colleagues. We have thoroughly enjoyed our first week in our new home.

I have been dealing with McConnells for 4 years and have always found them to be a supportive management company. Any queries I have had they have reacted in a timely fashion and when I have struggled with utilities, they supported the issues alongside me until they were sorted out to my satisfaction. Friendly office staff were also available as and when needed. Upon leaving the property, a smooth and efficient exit and no issues with the return of the deposit. I would recommend the use of this company from a Landlord perspective as well as a tenant.

I sold my property via McConnell’s during lockdown. Firstly they sold my property pretty much immediately at the price I had hoped to achieve. They were extremely helpful through the whole process from start to finish, keeping me updated with solicitor progress and buyer communications.
I would definitely recommend them and use them again without hesitation.

Absolutely disgusting service for lettings, the staff are so rude, patronizing and arrogant as well as extremely lazy when it comes to viewings. I have cancelled my viewing which took a week of phone calls and emails to even get a call back to book one in after the way I have been spoken too. Avoid like the plague!

Sticking to agents in Blackheath. They are more geared up with a valued customer service approach, and not making ridiculous demands.

I have enquired about a property and got told I will the the first one to get a viewing when it's available. After no contact from the agency for 2 weeks and it coming up to the time viewings start, I called them to ensure I am still on the list. I got told there already 6 viewings booked and I can be the 7th and there is nothing they can do. A waste of 2 weeks of my time, don't bother dealing with this agency, as you can clearly see by the average rating, it's not worth the effort.

Very unprofessional. One of your colleagues has booked me in for a viewing and I had to take a day off from work. I arrived at the property 5 minutes earlier. After 20 minutes of waiting I called the agency and the agent that booked me told me that the property has already been rented. When asked why I haven’t been told she simply said “I forgot, I was really busy”. This level of unprofessionalism is appalling and if this is the way you run your business and treat your clients I’m glad I haven’t signed a contract with you. I can’t believe I had to take the day off and wasted my time for nothing and all you’re excuse was “I forgot “. Great job McConnell’s. Not surprised of low ratings here. I really hope people are not wasting their money on you. You need to sort this out.

I would like to share my experience with mcconells. The service they provided to us was great and the way they responded to our concerns was fantastic. For a first time buyer the buying procedure was very stressful but whenever we need help from them they were very excellent. In my personal opinion this was the hardest and saddest situation I have experienced in my life. My husband signed a contract with the McConnels in 2011 and at that time he was a single men renting an entire property. Few years later I moved into the property and we proudly build our family and career. We have always been serious and considerate tenants, taking care of minor reparations and treating the whole place as it was our own house. Then one day the landlord decided to sell the place and we try all our best to negotiate with them in order to buy a place that we already feel as home. The negotiations did not finalise and we were very sad to receive the first notice to vacate. At that time, being good tenants for over 8 years we truly and genuinely want to find a home to buy and leave the place in peace. But communication, understanding, cooperation within the two parts (landlord and tenants) with the McConnells in between was absolutely counterproductive. As a mother of 2 and on my 8th month of pregnancy we were forced to leave the property in literally 10 days. Court was involved and no one, including the landlord show a bit of humanity even after we proof them the purchase of a house that need a renovation. They always claimed to us that it was not in their power but it was only the landlord decision and I took it for true. Only on the very last few days before they let my husband failed his references simply because he hasn’t payed the last month (they previously agreed the last rent was covered with the deposit).
They purposely let us fail the references leaving us (but especially me) in a very unpleasant situation. Where nowhere to go and stay after eviction day. We were lucky to find a human landlord who listen carefully to our story and decided to surpass the reference feedback and give us his property anyway.
Because of them my last month of pregnancy was very hard and my whole family suffered just because none of them shows us a bit of understanding and humanity.
Days after the eviction, the landlord, after approaching many of our ex neighbors very disappointed with him, he wrote us a letter of apologies for the whole unpleasant situation and blaming the agent for the decision made.
Sad, unbelievable but true story of a family of (nearly) 5.

It's not directly a grievance with the letting agents but more the overall referencing company they use. Mconnels staff were very friendly and helpful, but my overall experience was disappointing. Once you pay the holding fee on a property, you are then sent a link for the referencing company. My understanding was that as you're not applying for credit, they can only check public registers for ccjs, bancrupties and the electoral role, which would come back all ok for me. But there's a box I ticked to allow a full credit check which meant I failed from mismanagent of credit cards some years ago. It's a new process to me, I'm not sure if the application will let you proceed if you don't allow a full credit check, if it does, don't tick the box. Times are clearly changing as my current landlady's reference to say I pay rent in full and on time every month isn't enough to prove that I pay rent in full and on time every month. I'm now 200 quid down and not in the house I was looking forward to moving in. So be careful filling in the online forms.

I delete previously rewiew,I thing this one will by better,so i can tell only one thing cos I was really angry with them.

They left my without bathroom for3 week's ish, but they saying bathroom was suitable.i used my neighbours bathroom on a daily basis as homeles.

Answer to the owner.I was day off and waiting for builders to come ower,they newer come on time,I rang my self around 39times to them,they not answering all day,hou can you say I was rude and etc.it's cost my money to by off this day.
Bathroom was unsuitable for use cos was open electric wires.I using my neighbours bathroom for 2ish week's,then I was have inought and pay money to someone to put plasteboard,reason was at least I can use shower.it's cost my ower 100£.then wait again 1week ish.
When contractors finally come to do job,I even both lunch for them,so where is my rudenes???????????
So I think its everyone becomes angry on this situation,you see hou many things you don't know about your own tenants,don't make my to put pictures off bathroom on a social media.

Rented a property through Mcconells for 12 months and unfortunately that was long enough. Very difficult to get hold of, communication skills are poor. Ruth and Dean (when you could get him) were the only helpful members of staff. On the start date of my tenancy I was there for 2 hours to sign a document as I had to listen to information that had nothing to do with the tenancy and being shown personal photos on facebook, again, which had nothing to do with why I was there. The house took 2 days to clean before I could move in. I never had a house check done in the 12 months I was there so I have no idea what the landlord paid them for. My updated inventory never turned up with the issues that had not been completed properly which meant I had some of the issues with the property tried to be pinned on me on termination (which also took them 2 weeks to acknowledge), thankfully I had photo evidence. I dreaded anything going wrong with the house as I knew it was never going to be an easy fix.
I have rented through other agencies and their services were 100% better and more professional.
Unfortunately a negative experience, a real shame, as I wish I could finish on a positive.

If i could give 0 stars I would it's been over a week now and i haven't been able to use my garden with a new puppy, in the process of trying to toilet train this is less than ideal. i live next door to a property that they say they manage which is laughable as it hasn't been visited for over year.
Appalling customer service been told twice that peole were coming to investigate and not a single person showed. the first time I was told I wasn't in when I had come home early to make sure I was and the second time they had no excuse to give me
Spoken to by multiple people but mainly sue/nick. sue is friendly enough but only works till 3 so once she leaves nick seems to know nothing about what is happening. I
was then asked to illegally enter the next door property via email so they can access the property to fix the damaged fence , i replied stating that this is against law and was quite shocked they had asked
Spoke to Nick today and asked, if i was to replace the fencing myself would they reissue the money? As the tenant of the property they apparently "manage" hasnt responded to which he point blank refused
Think its outrageous they call themselves a property management company when only one check has been done since she moved in and the property is in need of visable upkeep to which they no nothing of due to not doing their job properly. Also that they feel that's it is ok to ask other people to illegally enter a property on their behalf. Then have the cheek to mention legal processes that need to be in place when dealing in property like i am the clueless one
Nick talks to me like I'm an idoit not sure if that's because I am a woman or because I sound young and was shocked when I was able to state legal requirements regarding properties
I just want to be able to use my property as i wish, like any home owner should be able to.
Seems like the only thing this company is interested in managing is money! Stuff everyone else

Dean was helpful at first then not good and never available. Unfortunately only found unsuitable tenants and as time went on we found our own. When we needed to end the tenancy as agreed, McConnells gave tenants early notice so lost two months rental but they said that was fine and they could do this? Seems a bit odd when they are being paid to manager your property? The males in the team seemed unbothered and slow responses when wanting advice. They were adamant they could end our tenancy whenever and never apologised for an obvious error.

Like trying to get blood from a stone. This agency cares nothing for tenants. They refuse to update any decorating - even after 7 years of living in the property. The staff are very rude. The attitude is literally: don't like it? Then move. Everything is done in the cheapest possible way. It's aweful. I would warn against renting through this business.

Terrible...I had a viewing booked in for today to view a flat. I arrived 15 mins earlier and that guy Dean didnt turn up. I rang them and the lady kept saying I must have missed him, she just wouldnt admit that he didnt show up. She advised I should re-book.......nope never!! Stay away guys if you want to save your time.
"IN RESPONSE TO YOUR FEEDBACK, YES I WAS IN THE AREA EARLIER THAN THE APPOINTMENT AND I HAD TROUBLE FINDING THE FLAT. I DID MANAGE TO FIND IT BY 11:27AM WHICH WAS BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT. THE APPOINTMENT WAS BOOKED FROM 11:30 TO 11:50. SO PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME THAT HOW DID DEAN GO TO THE PROPERTY ON TIME WHEN I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE FROM 11:27 UNTIL 11:45AM?? BE A BIT PROFESSIONAL AND AND FESS IT UP, HE DIDN'T TURN UP!!!"
