Talking from a landlord's perspective, did not have good experience from start to finish. Multiple issues when tenants were in and even unresolved issues 3 months after tenants left. Would not recommend as a landlord.
UPDATE: Nicole from Chester-le-street branch has been helpful. Managed to sort out issues after speaking to her. Main problem is with Reeds Rains central management team. Unfortunately, Chester-le-street branch is attached to the central team and lettings management are done under central team. Hence bad experience overall despite good branch service.

Well, after seeing how badly estate agents can be (see my previous review of Gordon Brown) I called Reeds Raines to see if they could help last minute to rent my house. Called Vicky, Nicole turns up less than an hour later, on her lunch hour, speaks to me like a human, deals with everything, listens, and can even spell (unlike some I know).
Every time I call the office, Vicky or Janet know immediately what’s going on, tell me to stop worrying, know when a joke is necessary and are all an absolute pleasure to deal with.
House rented quickly (accompanied viewer was amazing, professional and sold the house to the tenant, pointed out key features and was very detailed)
Just don’t bother calling anyone else- call these guys and take the hassle and stress out of it all!

I have recently used Reed Rains in Chester-le-street to market a refurbished house in Perkensville. The house was previously rented out through Reed Rains but after twelve years my tenants moved out and the place needed some improvements.
After consultation with Reed Rains it was decided that the rental market was the strongest at the moment so I put the property up to be let.
The branch were first class, the photos and a valuation were done in a prompt manner and viewings took place within a week of the property going on the market. A suitable tenant was found and all background checks were carried out by the branch. Hopefully these tenants will stay as long as the last ones.
I’d like to thank the branch for there friendly efficient service.

Very responsive. Always went the extra mile to support us despite everything that happened.
From the first visit to the getting the keys they were professional, knowledgeable and able to get the entire process moving. We found out a lot more about what was going on from them than we did from our own solicitors.
There were a fair few problems lower down in the chain so our purchase took a long time. Despite this it often felt that the only time things were moving was when Vicki was pushing the chain and the solicitors to get a move on.
Some of the other estate agents we encountered whilst searching for a property commented that Reeds Rains were expensive. This is clearly a case of you get what you pay for. The staff were approachable, friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
In sharp contrast to our solicitors there was a real ethos within Reeds Rains about them working for us (rather than just being another order number or open case).
As well as using them to advertise and arrange the sale of our property Reeds Rains also offered to represent us with our onward purchase (at no additional cost). This meant that we had professional advice when it came to negotiating and submitting offers, but also when we did experience less-than-professional behaviour from another estate agents - Reeds Rains were able to step in to deal with them on our behalf.
Delighted with the support and level of service we received from Reeds Rains and couldn't recommend them enough.

We were treated like young dumb first time buyers and constantly lied to by the sellers and estate agents.
Property was advertised as FREEHOLD, we asked the sellers about the property status, they said the property was FREEHOLD, the paperwork was in the post. During the solicitors searches, it came to light that the property was in fact LEASEHOLD.
Reeds Rains asked how we found out that the property was LEASEHOLD and we explained through the solicitors, to which estate agents said "but yeah its a long LEASEHOLD " - so they already knew and were hiding and MIS-SELLING!

Do not use. Trying to make a single adjustment of something so simple to a tenancy agreement. Turned out they were putting my details and all correspondence on someone else address, and someone's details on my address. Waited months for it to be rectified, was once told its my word against a staff members at one point, when in fact it was all their error. Pretty sure my data has not been protected, lost all trust that they actually care about me as a tenant.

I needed to secure a house to rent and saw one I liked on Rightmove. The agent was Reeds Raines. I also had been considering another property. We decided as the other property had 3 bedrooms and the one through Reeds Raines only 2, we would opt for the other one. During the process I dealt with Janet at Chester le Street and she couldn't have been more helpful or understanding when the house we chose fell through due to a landlord legal matter. Janet immediately checked that their house was still available and contacted me the same evening to say it was. I paid the holding deposit and the process began. Janet explained everything clearly at every step, but we only had a few days before our house was sold and we had nowhere to go. I explained the urgency to Janet and she chased everything up and ensured we got the go ahead to move in on our completion date. This was such a stressful time but Janet kept me informed at each stage, and when she confirmed the house was ours, I couldn't have been more grateful. Great service!!

I was a first time buyer this year and went to viewings with a few estate agents. It was clear there are differences in communication, professional attitude and service from one agency to another. I had disappointing experiences elsewhere but as soon as I was viewing properties with Reeds Rains in Chester-Le-Street, the experience improved massively. I was on a mailing list, they followed up about viewings and when I was interested in a house, they supported me through the whole process.
This year has been tough for a lot of industries and it was clear that searches and other work was slow but Janet and Mark kept me up to date. Solicitors could be slow and not have the best communication but this was made much less frustrating by the support and advice I got from the estate agents.

I also did my mortgage with them and the service they provided was brilliant and the mortgage adviser explained everything fully and got me a fantastic deal. A special mention goes to Vicki she was an absolute star constantly chasing the solicitors to get things through quickly. She is a credit to her employers very efficient! I will definitely recommend Reeds Rains to all my friends and family and will use their services to sell, rent or mortgage my property again !
