Not impressed with my experience as a potential seller or purchaser. Would give them a lot less than 1 star if it was possible.
We had a valuation over a month ago, agent could not give us a valuation at the time and had to speak to her boss and heard nothing since. Really odd since they had sold another almost identical house 2 roads away away 2 or 3 weeks earlier? When queried during my potential purchase viewing was told they had e-mail issues I can only assume they did not have a phone, clearly they didn't want the business?
Thankfully we booked 2 valuations that day and chose the other agent who not only gave us a valuation whilst he was here we were also given more confidence in the service on offer. It was the right decision as we sold in a week, but the one shipways sold took about 3 months or so.
I made an offer as a purchaser which was increased as I was told by the agent it would be accepted. Then I was asked to increase further so it would be taken off the market as I wasn't sold but they knew this when the offers were made, and it was even on the offer email.
A couple of days later when I was sold and after a week of being given the run around by the agent who would be in meetings, viewings and other calls when I tried to contact her I decided to withdraw my offer as could no longer trust what I was being told.
Whilst I understand they have to be led by the vendor honesty and trust should be integral to any negotiation. Not sure how you would know the sellers thoughts and movements if you can't contact them?

Tried to sell a property with a different estate agency but they didn’t make any effort to present the property and to promote it well, I changed the estate agency with Shipways in April and on early July completion was done. They chased everyone and kept me informed all the time. Definitely recommend to anyone is looking to sell or to buy a property because I found the staff very attentive, proactive and professional !

Do NOT be fooled into Shipways Lifetime Membership fee. It costs a staggering £600 which is a once off and is sold in a “never pay anything for our services again” kind of way however as you learn when looking to renew mortgage providers when your rate is up, you still pay a £99 admin fee!! The lifetime fee is non refundable as well so it’s £600 down the drain. Very very misleading and unscrupulous. Shop around, there are other companies who are better.

Poor customer skills from all departments from start to finish (2018 -2022)
Agent showing me around flat to rent seemed more interested in her phone than trying to to wow me.
Ended up renting the property and filling the out the welcome pack, although selecting 'no' on the sequence sheet for changing electricity supplier and selecting 'yes' for arranging council tax, they seemed to get them mixed up at my expense.
Move in day, the agents last words were "...If you have a problem, don't call us" fair enough it was a find tenant only, but that was just plain rude.
Fastforward to move out, landlord tells me to contact shipways as they hold the deposit, so I send an email, 24 hours later after no reply, I call the Redditch office, who tell me to call the Shirley office. They tell me the landlord has yet to agree to release it, so I call the landlord who says he has. I wait for 10 days to see if anything happens, no contact not even an acknowledgement of my original email. I call the Shirley office and now they tell me I have to call the deposits team, so call the deposits team who say the only person that can deal with it is away until Monday, so I wait.
Monday morning I receive a phone call from the most rude lady I have ever come across, would not let me speak and just kept shouting over me that it's up to the landlord. Then condescendingly told me that this was just a courtesy call and it wasnt her job to chase it.
The landlord is a friendly person and I trust his word over the cowboys at this company.
Would avoid these people at all costs

As first time buyers with a mortgage in principle in place we requested to view a house but were made to talk to Shipways mortgage advisor first otherwise we were unable to view the house. After speaking to the advisor we felt pressured and like we were being forced into using their mortgage services and were told that we could not afford the house even though we made it clear we were able to afford it and had a mortgage in principle in place to show that. After viewing the house we put an offer in straight away and were told we would hear back Monday morning. However we heard nothing all day so called ourselves Monday evening to be told there was another offer close to ours and we would hear back the following morning. Later in the evening we had a phone call from the mortgage advisor asking if we would like to offer any higher, when we said no he responded saying he didn’t know how we would afford the house anyway and that our mortgage in principle ‘wasn’t worth the paper it was written on’, if he didn’t believe we could afford it why would he ask us if we wanted to offer more? We felt as though he was trying to pressure us into using him for our mortgage by telling us he was going to inform the branch manager that we couldn’t afford the house. By Tuesday afternoon we still hadn’t heard anything so called again ourselves to be told there were now three offers and we would hear from them in the evening. 10 minutes later we received a call to say that our offer was rejected due to there being a much larger offer, we questioned them about this as we were told the day before that all the offers were close. we were then told that they had put more bids in, then when asked if this had anything to do with the mortgage advisor trying to make out that we couldn’t afford the property they couldn’t give a straight answer. The person on the phone then tried to turn into a sales pitch asking our budget and what houses we were looking for to which we informed them that we were unhappy with there service and stated we didn’t wish to work with them in the future to which they said ok we will make a note. We feel as though our offer was only rejected because we made it clear we were not using shipways mortgage services and were not going to be bullied into doing so. Our whole experience as first time buyers with Shipways has been outrageous and we feel as though we were pushed down as soon as we told the mortgage advisor we were not using his services as we already have a mortgage advisor. These ‘sales techniques’ are not acceptable and we will not be using Shipways in the future for buying or selling.

So what can I say after having 3 agents out and letting my head chose a cheaper fee over a slightly higher fee BIG MISTAKE!
Not only did Shipways keep in touch with us every week to see how our property was doing, they let us know of new properties coming to the market. So after 12 weeks I hung my head between my legs and phoned the lovely ladies at Shipways back and asked for HELP.. In reality if I had gone with Shipways in the first place like my wife wanted too then I would have paid yes a slightly higher fee but it would have saved me losing thousands of pounds! So my first agent after 2 weeks on the market phoned me to say that they had over valued my property by £20,000 and I needed to reduce? Yes that's right £20,000 we refused of course but still reduced by £10,000.
After speaking with Fran she booked us back in to see Nicola and I have to say that the years of experience that these to lovely ladies have is unbelievable and I have to say true to their word they had viewings the very next day. Chelsea came to do the viewings wearing PPE just as Nicola had the day before, making us feel reassured that we had chosen the correct agent this time... Feedback the day after from our viewings was amazing as we had an offer £5,000 over our asking price whoop whoop.
SO A LESSON TO BE LEARNED DONT CHOSE AN AGENT BECAUSE OF A CHEAPER FEE AS IT WILL END UP COSTING YOU MORE IN THE LONG RUN **Nicola kept our price the same as it was with the other agent so Shipways actually saved us from losing any more.. Thank you ladies I will be sure to recommend you.
I also wanted to say thank you to Paul who reviewed our mortgage offer and actually saved us an extra £40 per month so a win win all round ????

Tara Stringer from the Kidderminster branch is absolutely fantastic at her job and a credit to the business . Her work ethic and her drive for the job really shows and gave us a lot of trust after being let down by another agent .
Going cheap is not always the best option .
Even if the sale didn't go a head we know that shipways gave it 100%. If I ever heard people say all estates agents are the same I would have to correct them on it as they are not. Couldn't recommend you enough . ????????????????????

I have dealt with several staff within Shipways including Chelsea, Paul, Francis, Nicola and one young man I forget his name. All the staff have been very friendly at all times even when under a lot of pressure in the current climate. Each time I have gone into the office, I have been made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you all for making everything as painless as possible

Chelsea listened to details of what we were seeking and this morning contacted us about a property that possibly could meet our requirements and is in a specific geographic area of interest to us within Redditch town. We have not been inundated, as with some other agents, with new homes for sale where the only criteria applied is one of price. Thank you Chelsea.

We used Shipways for Robyn's morgage advise and at first I was a little hesitant to pay for a morgage advisor, however I’m so glad I did now as not only has Robyn been worth every penny by working along side me through every confusing, troublesome and difficult problem I have encountered along the way but also pushed my solicitors for me and translated the overwhelming situations for me in a way I can understand, she really has an above and beyond attitude towards her role at Shipways Redditch and has even saved me a load of money by reviewing my final statement from my solicitors by showing me costs that where unnecessarily placed into my soliciting bill. Couldn’t recommend her morgage advise and help more as She got me a great deal on my morgage wich she also made a quick and easy process. I was so disappointed by the service and how I was treated. I rand several times and the phone was straight to voicemail. I left two messages over two different days and sent an email as I had found the perfect propety and had no one got back to me. In the end I had to go into the local branch to ask for a viewing where I was offered an appointment with finance manager for next day and told I would get a viewing on house either before or after appointment but on arrival for appointment no viewing had been made. I arranged a viewing for next evening and while I waited at property no one turned up from estate agents. After several voice mails I eventually got through to agents and they told me my appointment was half hour later than what they had written down then when I asked them to check they said they had me for 2 days later. They said they could only apologise and that was that. They're office is a complete shambles. I have no other way of viewing the property and had e no intention of ever dealing with them again

I had heard lots of negative comments about estate agents, but as this was my first encounter. I gave them a equal chance. We viewed a house, and loved it. 15 minutes later, Shipways Redditch received our offer on the house, and told us they would get back to us the next working day. This did not happen. We continued to wait for a phone call until eventually, we ended up phoning them, to be told they had no further information.
This continued for another three days, once a day before finally, we phoned up to finally be told that a higher offer had been placed, and that the seller had accepted it.
Now I have no problem with being outbid on a house, as the market is very competitive. Instead it was the fact that I was made to feel more like an inconvenience, than a client/customer every time I called up. Genuine questions were granted sarcastic responses and smarmy comments, deflective answers and useless timewasting snippets. To be kind, they had the general level of reliability that one might expect from an old French car.
Whilst we have not been put off our house hunt, I hope Shipways sort their act out, as in years to come, when I come to sell my first house, I will not be using Shipways Redditch.
