I started looking for a rental property on the Isle of Wight three weeks ago and contacted every agent covering Ryde, Seaview, and Binstead, around seven or eight in total. Honestly, most were dismissive and uninterested in helping, with Seafields being the worst.
Then I registered with Watson Bull & Porter and was contacted by Amelia. From the very first phone call she stood out, enthusiastic, professional, and genuinely keen to understand my requirements. She listened carefully to why I was moving back and suggested a property that was slightly outside my budget, but she felt it could be the right fit. I was hesitant at first, but I’m so glad she encouraged me to view it. The property was perfect, and I’ve now secured it.
What impressed me most was that Amelia didn’t stop once the viewing was done. She guided me through the whole process. The references, credit checks, and right-to-rent requirements (especially with my wife moving over from the US). She was always contactable by phone or email, kept me fully updated, and made what could have been a daunting process feel smooth and even enjoyable.
Watson, Bull & Porter as a whole have been head and shoulders above every other letting agent I dealt with on the island. From my side as a tenant, and from what I can see in how they liaised with the landlord, the service has been first class.
Amelia is an absolute credit to the company, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her or Watson, Bull & Porter to anyone looking for a home on the Isle of Wight.

Ava was absolutely lovely and I felt really listened to what I needed in a home. She was professional and friendly.
Regarding the estate agents as a whole, they have a tenant portal which makes it easy to find your documents and the process of applying was straightforward. They’re easy to contact in regards to maintenance issues, and a minor plumbing issue was taken care of quickly with no fuss.

We had a section 21 notice out of nowhere from our last landlord just before Christmas, and the first property we went to see was through Watson bull and porter. One of Thier agents called Amelia was the one who not only showed us around the property during the viewing, but also guided us through the process from start to finish when we found out we had got it, and was immensely helpful, answering any questions swiftly from start to finish! Looking for an letting agent who actually cares? Look no further than Louis West! Amazing to actually find someone who contacts you regularly with updates. I have been registered with all the other agents on the island and he as been the ONLY one to keep in regular contact with me, in fact he has been the only agent to contact me with up coming properties at all! It can be a very frustrating process looking to rent but with Louis I actually felt that he wanted to help. If only all agents could be so good at there job. Thank you Louis!

I went to Watson Bull & Porter to rent my property, I went back to them as I have had dealings with them before and found all the staff very helpful in sorting a property for us, which I was very pleased with. I cannot speak poorly enough about these people. No letting management skills - electrics not signed off, work not done for months, no communication, high charges. Friends of ours have had problems in selling through them with lost deeds, a lack of knowledge on how to sell a house etc. On top of all this, they sell your details to mobile, utility and other companies to make some more out of you.
