Complete chancers, will try to fleece every penny from your deposit. Worst letting agents I’ve ever had to deal with. My warning for new tenants: PHOTOGRAPH EVERYTHING, and don’t let these lying scammers try to screw you over.
We were only there for 10 months (seasonal work), and did the following upon leaving
- hired a rug doctor to clean the carpets (despite the rugs being spotless as we never wore shoes inside)
- had a professor painter (a neighbour) come around to examine each wall, and fix anything he thought we might be deducted (4 minor scuffs, on 3 walls, none of which we even knew had been us)
I’ve never left a place in such great condition in my entire life, and had previously never had a penny deducted from my deposit. For this place, we never had people over - never had the time, our jobs were that busy. I thought we were both being very generous with this level of cleaning since tiny scuffs on walls and wearing shoes inside is 100% “general wear and tear”.
Here’s just some of the things that these charlatans tried to take from our deposit.
- professional carpet cleaning throughout… these jokers actually said to me that “there were dents in the carpet From your furniture which is removed by professional carpet cleaning”. A lie that they only backed down on when I showed them a picture of the dents made by the previous tenants furniture.
- wall painting. They charged us to repaint a wall. Nothing was wrong with those walls, and as I said, we had gotten a professional around just before we moved out. They said to “you have to pay because the work has already been done” and in my naivety, I believed them.
