15th Feb 2022 (2 years ago)Very bad experience: They could not provide me a single suggestion in almost one month despite the fact that I was ready to pay up to £1250. Although, they put me under great stress and made me believe that I can’t get any house below £1200 and can’t get less than 2 bedroom for family with a baby. It is because of them I did not search for less than 2 bedroom property for a long, assuming I can’t get that, which was incorrect. Every time, I called them they said it is not in their area and they will send my details to other office. Once, I spent around 4-5 hours to fill a form to apply for a property whose result they never shared with me. I expressed my interest to view many properties but mostly I did not get a response because they already had many applications for that property. Feedback for the agent to improve: 1.First, be transparent and responsive to the customers. If there are many applications for some property then convey that to the customers instead of keeping quite. Reply each email/call. 2.You have multiple offices in Oxford and you have advantage so use that to help the customers and not for torturing them. There is no communication (at least customer oriented) between your different branches. Your people just pass responsibility to other branches. For example, I called several times to show interest in some property then I was told that that property is not in their area. First, they should help the customers instead of passing on the things. Secondly, give the customer options available with you (customer might get interested in property available with you) instead of getting rid of them.

After rent ends, they had a list of the different reasons for us to pay and after eight months and several time of reminders, we still didn’t receive the rest of the deposit. Throughout the (quick!) process the team at Chamberlain Evans supported us, ensuring we were kept up to date including on evenings and weekends and managed our expectations well. They also helped us understand each step and what to expect next, and we felt entirely in control, whilst at the same time having a safe pair of hands and a good deal of knowledge about Oxford to fall back on. We would recommend Chamberlain Evans!

Marketing was excellent and the house sold very quickly. Nothing was too much trouble for them, especially Charlie who regularly kept in touch with updates as the sale proceeded. Charlie was 'our rock' throughout; nothing was too much trouble for him, reassuring and supporting us at every stage. We would highly recommend the team and give 10 stars (if it were possible!)

They set a fair price which was rightly priced for the market and then provided good marketing, online and in the window. They communicated often and gave feedback on each viewing. I transacted after 2 months and was very happy. Great team and best in Summertown.

15th Apr 2024 (11 days ago)AVOID. Would give them a 0 if I could. Horrendous estate agents that will hook you in with paying a no deposit option, being told I’d not even be considered to rent the property unless I paid this way even though I offered them 7 weeks of rent upfront as a deposit. They attempted to sting me with a hefty bill for cleaning (which was eventually deemed too high) / unreturned items which were returned. I managed to win the majority of my money back by paying for an adjudicator to look at the case. They then tried to lie their way out of refunding the fee which I paid for this adjudication to go ahead by stating it was non refundable which was not what my tenancy stated. They got a debt collection company to try and collect the incorrect amount owed off me which I spent months fighting to finally win my share back. Also tried to contact them several times for certain issues during my contract and heard nothing back. Called one evening to let them know I had a ceiling leak coming through the electrics in the roof and never heard back nor sent anyone to fix it before closing for the day and never getting back to me. No care for your safety. If you’re a tenant, from my own experience, I’d heavily avoid this agency. I’ve read many reviews from other tenants stating similar experiences. A totally stressful experience which I’ve never experienced with any other letting agency. 3rd Mar 2024 (8 weeks ago)Im shocked at the level of lack professionalism disreguard of potential tennents aswell of lack of care. I arranged a viewing for saturday. Its a good job i called up to confirm and check the address. Turns out my viewing had been cancelled as property was gone. No one called me to update me. I would of been standing out side waiting in the rain and no one would of been coming. To add insult to the matter, when asked why i wasnt informed i was told there was 40-50 people viewing, they didnt have time to call so many people. The lack of care and whatever attidtude is some what concerning. So basicaly we dont care about letting you know you been cancelled. Leads me to wounder if they are the same with tennants. 13th Jun 2023 (10 mo. ago)Hathaways took over management of our Oxford property in April this year, and so far have been a breath of fresh air - it's great to be working again with a family concern, and to feel that they care about us and our tenants. The only issue we had was that some documents were rather unclear, but they responded promptly to my feedback and updated the docs to fix this. Service has been friendly and efficient.
