Note of caution to Tenants – Avoid at all cost! - Only gave 1 star because I couldn’t give lower. Carter Jonas are a 1 sided estate agent that only represent the Owners and where Tenants are a commodity. They optimise the law in the owners favour and will extract the maximum money out of you while giving you the most 1 sided tenancy agreement possible. Basically act as the owners “muscle”. Dealt with them for 3 years as a tenant and hope to never deal with them again as a tenant or a potential landlord.... Read more

The sheer incompetence of Chancellors is breathtaking. It's took them over a month after our move in date to send us a contract, and a year later when it was time to move out, it took them over a month to send us our full deposit back (minus an admin fee??). Our landlord got so sick of Chancellors constant fees for nothing in return, he decided to ditch them and go private. If we encountered any problems with the property or appliances, we contacted the landlord directly as talking to Chancellors was like talking to a brick wall and would probably result in some sort of admin fee. To summerize.... avoid. There are plenty of other letting agencies in Oxford.... Read more

In these difficult times, I applied for a job through Allen Associates back in September on a temporary basis, and from the start Lottie Cook made the process really easy, making sure I had the beta opportunities to get the job, which I did. Even throughout the role, she was always making sure the role was going well, and I had all the support available. Nobody even contacted me regarding the job I applied for on their own website, and they couldn't even be bothered to give me any update despite me having lots of experience, being well qualified for the role etc. Disappointing agency that seems to be more image than substance. As for some of the '5 star' reviews below, its easy to get a 5 star review if you prompt a candidate to post a review after they've received a job offer. The reviews will be very different if you also prompted all the candidates that you never responded to! [Reply to Response from Owner. Have I checked my junk email folder? Are you serious? As I've said already, NOBODY has contacted me regarding the job that I applied for. NOBODY, so it doesn't really matter what sort of awards you may or may have had. Sorry Kate, but the 'candidate experience' for this candidate was a negative one due to something going wrong at the agency end.]... Read more

Very bad experience!! On the very first day when we move into the flat. There is no hot water nor shower in the house! We go back to Martin & Co for help. They simply throw the number of landlord and said it's not their responsibility to deal with the fix. To make things worse, the so-called landlord never pick up the phone!!! What we are angry most is the agency's attitude. When we come to them, they show no interests offering any help. They didn't even try to!!! Simply ask us to seek for advice from Citizen Advice. What a joke!!! Not professional at all. Even private landlord can do better. Very disappointed. Regret to use them.... Read more

If you're planning to rent with Scott Fraser PHOTOGRAPH EVERYTHING on day one. We got a 1000gbp deduction from our deposit for preexisting faults in house, a major one being ubiquitous mould spots all around the property - which we were told to deal with ourselves upon reporting. I got the odd impression they're way keener to check for faults after you have moved out to be able to cut your deposit money. Of course you can counter claim those deductions, but understandably, hardly anyone, aside from the letting agency itself of course, has the time and spare energy to do that - I think this agency is a great example of one that clearly knows that and takes advantage of it. My advice is, if you must rent with them, make sure you document and photograph every single fault upon moving in, and in presence of their representative (possibly even have them sign that they've seen the photographs) - of course a much simpler solution is to avoid them....
