My experience with Lifestyle Property Agents began when I paid a holding deposit for a rental property. What should have been a straightforward process quickly turned into weeks of back?and?forth emails. The agency initially refused to refund the deposit, alleging “fraudulent payslips” based only on an AI flag from their referencing provider. No evidence of fraud was ever produced, and the application was closed simply due to non?response. Despite repeated requests for clarification, they maintained this position until I pressed them on the Tenant Fees Act 2019. Only then did they change course and agree to refund — but even at that stage attempted to deduct £61 for referencing costs, which are prohibited under the Act. This drawn?out process highlights a concerning pattern: Lifestyle Property Agents rely on tenants not understanding the law to justify keeping deposits. Their communication was aggressive, their reasoning inconsistent, and only persistence forced them to back down.
