We instructed MOV8 to sell our one-bedroom flat in Edinburgh. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing and we ultimately decided to terminate the agreement and move to another estate agent. During the period the property was marketed, we had a number of viewings but also several cancellations, and we did not feel that the sale was progressing as we had hoped. We would have liked more proactive advice and communication about what could be changed to improve the chances of achieving a sale. What was particularly disappointing was the cost of ending the agreement. We had to settle a substantial outstanding amount before moving to another agent, despite the property remaining unsold. There were individual members of staff who were pleasant and helpful, so this is not a criticism of everyone we dealt with. However, looking at the overall service and outcome, we were not satisfied and decided that changing agent was the best option for us.... Read more

WARNING!! Richard murray acted as co executor having written my mothers will. He was not appointed by her but by her named executor. He sided and was partial to one group of beneficiaries over another. He chose the ones nearest the property of most help to him to side with, making his job easier. The family was fractured but he showed no ability to deal with this shutting down and refusing to engage with one side. Preferentially treating the other side. He went back on his legal advice reversing decisions that suited him. Including and implementing wishes he decided my mother made Verbally only to the one side of the family, the side he demonstrated favour with. When ‘wishes’ my mother had made to the other side were brought to him he dismissed them. Biased and unfair and cruel in his handling of the estate. Delaying the inheritance by permitting one beneficiary to live rent free in the property for some fourteen months post my mothers death. Not mentioned in the will, nor discussed. Between himself, his Company or my mother - but on the say so of the side he favoured! The implemented ‘say sos’ were decided without full disclosure or discussion or transparency and he was unaccountable in that He acted like a dictator refusing telephone calls , zoom meetings or email discussions. He dragged out a simple direct will into two years of hell, stress and unnecessary expense because he favoured and decided always in favour of one half of the beneficiaries over the other. Do not write a will with this Company. They have demonstrated they are incapable of writing one correctly , giving proper advice to my Mother , and incapable of implementing it as it’s written in any event. AVOID! It’s 2026 and there are still repercussions from Richard Murray @Connell&Connell’s mis writing and massive failures in executing our Mothers will. Save yourselves a whole lot of unprofessional and uncaring and biased,will handling and don’t use this man.... Read more

I would highly recommend Blair Cadell as Jamie is a particularly nice person to work with. Although there were Googlemaps issues with my advert, he persevered with having Google fix the problem . Overestimated price at quote stage and advised a lower one as soon as home report valuation was received, suggesting upset price 10k below valuation. Little feedback on website viewing figures unless I phoned to request it. Support for property viewings and feedback from viewers was reasonable. Once an offer was received, I had to email and phone Thornton's legal team repeatedly to chase progress. Title deeds were already held by Thornton's, but it took two weeks to scan and email them to the solicitor, delaying written acceptance of the offer beyond the deadline given by the buyer. Solicitor handling my case seemed to think this was normal and deadlines for acceptance of offers were usually ignored. Sale is not yet complete, but I would avoid using the same company for estate agency and legal services in future. It seems to encourage complacency and inefficiency, the opposite of what I expected.... Read more
