The service we have received from Charles Powell Estate agents as a seller and as a potential buyer has been excellent. Steve and Gwen helped us through the process and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. Without a doubt, the best estate agents I have come across in the New Forest. Professional and above all honest. I can't recommend them highly enough.
All the staff were so caring, great enthusiasm and I sold my house within a few months! Thank you!
Giles has been excellent to deal with. He keeps you informed throughout the process and is honest and experienced. I have been involved with him now on 2 separate transactions and he has successfully delivered both. I would highly recommend him.
Warning if you are renting through Savills....(also note that many of the reviews are from one reviewers who reviewed only once.)
Initially we were happy with Savills until we came to the landlord wanting to move in and the contract hadn't been written correctly. We had 3 months to run but, as a large favour, we agreed to look for a house and found one we liked. We agreed to move during the school holidays and our busiest time of year for work. At the end of tenancy, they employed a different inventory clerk on the way out - to cut a long story short the exit inventory bore little relation to the inbound. The house was cleaned to a very high standard yet, despite getting Savills off the hook, they and the landlord withheld over £1000 for a small 3 bedroom cottage, sighting tiny marks and scratches which to any one else would have been wear and tear. We are of course going to the ombudsman but for anyone renting from Savills, make sure you read the contract and do not sign an inventory until you have gone through every page and agreed that its the same clerk on the way out or they will take your money and waste a huge amount of time. I will never use this company again in anyway...extremely unprofessional. Michelle Quinn the lettings manager should be ashamed of herself and the landlord David Roberts for ungentlemanly behavior
Sold our house with Charters. Got weekly update calls and if we ever asked a question by email between these calls we got an answer same day. Nony and Jo were both particularly helpful during the long process.
One comment: The guy that did the valuation said he would deal with us throughout the entire sale process, updating us each week - we never saw or heard from him again! His replacements weren't an issue (in the slightest), but if it's not going to happen, don't promise it.
Never ever use this company they cannot be trusted,we were bidding on a property at the time,we were promised to be contacted ,yet let us hang onto the phone & never did contact us.I located the owner myself only to find it had been sold never ever use them they cannot be trusted!!!!!
I would recommend Charters to anyone looking to buy or sell locally. They are an extremely professional business who get results. I would particularly single out the efforts of Nony Kerr Smiley who was committed to our sale from start to finish and went above and beyond.
Shocking. If you are a tenant, do not use this agency. Find another letting agent. Their customer service is absolutely shocking - they are arrogant, unhelpful, they will intrude on your privacy, and will take months to deal with any repair issues that you report to them - (and you will have to follow up about 20-30 times to make sure they actually do something about the problem. Today I reported a gas leak in the house, a National Grid engineer had confirmed the gas leak, and it was making me very ill. I tried multiple times to reach the woman at Charters who is responsible for maintenance, but every time I tried to reach her, I was told she had higher priority problems to deal with, and that she would call me back at some point when she had time. It didn't seem that the person who answered the phone had any idea about how dangerous gas leaks are -
and when I asked her, she became very rude, arrogant, and treated me as though I was a low priority nuisance. Planning to hand in my notice today on the property after this experience. They are the WORST agency I have come across. I was actually planning to buy a property this year, and I definitely will avoid any properties listed for sale by Charters.
I recently bought two investment properties from Nicky at Winkwork in Romsey and the process from beginning to end was seemless and faultless.
It is a rare to find an Estate Agent as diligent and caring as Nicky!
A very happy new investor!
Absolutely APPALLING service from Daniel Boxall.
Winkworth seriously need to reconsider his position in the company.
I Put my house up for sale with him and he completely ignored every message and voicemail from me. I had to go in to winkworth especially to talk to him and see what was happening with my house, he promised to phone me later that evening but once again he didn't. Distinct lack of professionalism from start to finish, never made me sign a contract so i have put my house on the market with a more professional agent.
