7th Jan 2026 (6 mo. ago)WARNING!! Richard murray acted as co executor having written my mothers will. He was not appointed by her but by her named executor. He sided and was partial to one group of beneficiaries over another. He chose the ones nearest the property of most help to him to side with, making his job easier. The family was fractured but he showed no ability to deal with this shutting down and refusing to engage with one side. Preferentially treating the other side. He went back on his legal advice reversing decisions that suited him. Including and implementing wishes he decided my mother made Verbally only to the one side of the family, the side he demonstrated favour with. When ‘wishes’ my mother had made to the other side were brought to him he dismissed them. Biased and unfair and cruel in his handling of the estate. Delaying the inheritance by permitting one beneficiary to live rent free in the property for some fourteen months post my mothers death. Not mentioned in the will, nor discussed. Between himself, his Company or my mother - but on the say so of the side he favoured! The implemented ‘say sos’ were decided without full disclosure or discussion or transparency and he was unaccountable in that He acted like a dictator refusing telephone calls , zoom meetings or email discussions. He dragged out a simple direct will into two years of hell, stress and unnecessary expense because he favoured and decided always in favour of one half of the beneficiaries over the other. Do not write a will with this Company. They have demonstrated they are incapable of writing one correctly , giving proper advice to my Mother , and incapable of implementing it as it’s written in any event. AVOID! It’s 2026 and there are still repercussions from Richard Murray @Connell&Connell’s mis writing and massive failures in executing our Mothers will. Save yourselves a whole lot of unprofessional and uncaring and biased,will handling and don’t use this man.

Their support, professionalism, and responsiveness were greatly appreciated and made the process much easier.<br><br>At the same time, I would like to suggest further improvements to the maintenance operations. She proceeded to talk to me in a very condescending and rude manner. I felt belittled and actually a bit upset, even when I was trying to help and understand her. Not the type of interaction I expect from a professional solicitors.

20th Jun 2025 (1 year ago)I have now worked with Strutt and Parker twice, first when purchasing my home last year and more recently when selling a family property. On both occasions, the team was exceptionally personable, supportive and attentive. They consistently went above and beyond, never making anything feel like too much trouble. Selling the family home was particularly emotional and throughout the process, the team demonstrated genuine kindness and understanding, which made an otherwise difficult experience much more manageable. Every member of the team played a part in the sale. It felt like working with an extension of the family as they all knew who I was and were able to assist promptly and effectively. I wholeheartedly recommend Strutt and Parker to anyone seeking an efficient, effective, supportive and compassionate estate agent in Edinburgh.
3rd Nov 2023 (2 years ago)(While the company did finally provide compensation, it's important to note that I still experienced a significant opportunity cost as a result of their actions.) It has undeniably been the most regrettable experience of my lifetime, dealing with a solicitor team that exhibited a severe lack of professionalism and courtesy. Initially, I placed my trust in them based on their positive Google reviews, which now appear to be misleading and have led to significant frustration and inconvenience on my part. The solicitor in question was Shari, who astonishingly took a full year to complete the anti-money laundering check, despite my having submitted all required documents promptly. To compound matters, she repeatedly requested the same information, leading to redundant submissions. Regrettably, she ceased all communication, failing to respond to both my emails and those from the seller's side. My attempts to reach her went unanswered for two months until she seemingly disappeared without a trace. I was dismayed to find myself in such a predicament. In desperation, I enlisted the assistance of the estate agent, who contacted Joni, the National Head of Conveyancing. However, this interaction proved to be equally disheartening, as Joni not only displayed a lack of professionalism but also declined to provide any insight into the unilateral breach of contract, responding in a profane manner. I strongly advise against engaging with this company. As a result of their inefficiency, my funds remained in limbo within my bank account, as I had initially believed they could promptly resolve their business matters. Consequently, I have incurred substantial financial losses due to the failure of Simpson & Marwick to deliver on their commitments.
7th Dec 2024 (1 year ago)Excellent team- 2nd Sep 2025 (11 mo. ago)I previously had dealings with Fraser Brooks during our property purchase, as they were representing the sellers. Although they were not acting on my behalf, I found the experience with them to be disappointing. Communication was often curt and, at times, came across as rude, which made an already stressful process much more difficult. From my perspective, the level of professionalism fell short of what I would expect from a firm of solicitors. While they may have fulfilled their role for their own clients, the manner in which they engaged with others involved in the transaction was poor and unhelpful. A prime example of this lack of professionalism is when I went to collect my keys. I had purposely gone after the lunch hour to avoid waiting about (the office is in city centre so parking is a nightmare) as I had been told multiple times lunch was 12-1. I was waiting outside the office for 25 minutes. Tried to phone them multiple times. No response. After 25 minutes at 13:25 the gentleman came strolling back in. No apologies for being late or keeping me waiting. When I queried about why he had been so late to return back to work he proceeded to become stand offish and rude. Based on my experience, I would not feel confident recommending this firm

I conducted the viewings myself with the help of a family friend but Urquharts made the appointments while consulting with us over our availability. Advice was succinct yet with the reasoning clearly explained.
