When we decided to explore putting our house on the market a few months back, we engaged several estate agents including Burchell Edwards to come and appraise our property. From the get go it was obvious that Burchell Edwards were far superior to the other agents in respect to professionalism, research and pricing.
We decided to put our house on the market about 2 weeks ago and engaged Burchell Edwards as our agent. They continued to impress us with their knowledge and guidance and we had around 10 bookings in the first week and a half and I am pleased to say that we were offered the full asking price for our property from a cash buyer with now downward chain. We couldn't have asked for a better service and we were not expecting to sell the house within two weeks!

Our experience with Burchell Edwards during the sale of our home was extremely disappointing. I wish I could give zero stars but unfortunately there is no such option.
Initially, they seemed promising, but it quickly became apparent that their service was lacking. They rarely answer phone calls, and when they do, the staff often admit they are new and unsure how to assist. Attempts to speak with senior team members were futile; they were never available and never returned calls, emails, or voicemails.
Moreover, they are not cheap either; our seller paid much less to another agent who were just brilliant. When we tried to chase them for updates, we were told not to chase and that they would respond when they had time, which never happened.
There was no follow-up on the sale, and we had to chase all parties involved ourselves. The only call we received from Burchell Edwards was on completion day, after everything was sorted by us.
In summary, do not use Burchell Edwards if you are serious in selling your property and unless you want the additional stress of managing everything yourself. Their service was not worth the hassle and added unnecessary frustration to an already stressful process.

Looking for a rental property for 6 months, called Raza about a property I saw on rightmove. Accommodated a viewing within 2-3 hours and as soon as the landlord accepted the offer confirmed with me (all happened the same day). Very happy with this communication. As it came to signing the tenancy this was slower on communication which I had to chase several times and eventually only came through 2 hours before the close of play on the day we were picking up the keys which was disappointing. Otherwise happy with the service.

Honestly without Declan I would not have bought my house. Having spoken to him about the kinds of property I wanted and the original mortgage advice I had been given. He suggested I meet Aidan and everything just went up from there. Although I didn’t purchase my house through Burchell Edwards the mortgage advice I received from Aidan put me in the best position to buy my first home. Also a special shout out to Gary who took over my mortgage completion he has been so helpful. Great team and would highly recommend! So polite, so easy to contact and work with. The worst real estate agents in the Shirley area!! They over promise and underdeliver. Their communication is so poor and it is very normal to have to chase them up for details and information. The agent arrived late on our first ever viewing and this was so embarrassing and he had little to no knowledge about the property. On one viewing they sent the client over and did not even inform him that the agent wasn't coming!. The client was so disappointed with the agent and it was so embarrassing again. They told us that they would provide statistics showing how the property was being marketed and analysis but NOTHING happened! It was all lies. They sent a complete incompetent photographer to take pictures of the property. This individual spent 4 hours of our time and didn't take one decent photograph. The entire process from start to end of contract was so very poor!!! Please stay away as they are incompetent, unreliable and mediocre. A total waste of 14 weeks!!

Tried for 2 days to get someone to answer. I finally got through to someone and asked for an appointment to view a property. They took all my details, then told me they were fully booked that week so I couldn’t view it, and if anything came up they would let me know! Why not offer me an appointment for the week after? Are they only allowing viewings for one week? Won’t be selling my property with them!

I recently moved up from London with my partner for a job in Birmingham. I needed a flat for the both of us within a short time frame which was close enough to my work and the motorway for when I needed to travel back to London. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! They are gazumping buyers
These scammers have scammed us out of a property. After reaching an initial agreement for a property price these guys stringed us along, refusing to pick up multiple times and providing vague answers. They have a deal with the lawyer that resides in their building to work with them, giving them favourable conditions to screw people over. They worked with the seller to drop out of our initial agreement after stringing us along for 9 months and then re-listed the property.
They have wasted thousands of pounds of my money by working with the seller to re-list the property for a much higher price nine months after agreeing to my offer. They are scumbags who work behind the scenes to screw you over at every opportunity.

Shocking service, no reply to messages and no one ever answers the phone, gave up and had to walk I to branch in the end just to speak with someone. Then even when you're on the books you don't hear about the viewings you had. From a customer service point of view I'm very disappointed and wouldnt reccomend them.

If I see a house listed by Burchell Edwards, I'm not even interested in it. They are only interested in you using their "in-house broker services", and will not even allow a prospective buyer to arrange a viewing if you refuse or already have a broker you're using. If you are a seller OR a buyer, avoid, avoid, avoid using them.

Very quick to arrange the market appraisal and get me signed up. Bit slow to actually get the advert up and viewings organised. Despite the slow start they did get me a good price for my property in just over 3 months from first marketing to completion. Communication was limited in that they only contacted me when something had progressed. But that was fine by me. I always knew I could ring for an update if I wanted one. Team were on hand to help me when I needed them. Overall a pain free decent experience.

I'll try to keep this brief, but it will be tough. But TLDR: Don't do it to yourself, and sell through another agent. Terrible communication, absolutely no drive to get your property sold, and exceptionally unprofessional.
We attempted to sell our property through the Shirley Branch between August 2020 and Jan 2021.
We were sold a marketing package for £180+VAT that would enhance our online selling position (prime position on Zoopla etc). When it came to listing online, our advert had been directly copied and pastes from another agent selling a property similar to ours. We didn't get any of the premium features we had paid for until we pushed and chased. 4 weeks later, we finally got the premium spots on zoopla, but none of the additonal videos/virtual tours.
We were then essentially ignored for months, only to find our agent ahd left the company and noone had got in touch.
We had no communication on perhformance
We had a single viewing on our property in the 8 months it was live, and even then, it wasn't part of the viewer's requirements.
When we had an email from the branch manager asking if we wanted to be part of their "boxing day sale", I took the opportunity to make a complaint, only for that to be ignored.
When trying to remove our property from the market to re-mortgage, we found it still live 2 weeks after the request
When calling to cancel our contract agreement and make a complaint, I couldn't have been rushed off the phone quick enough
When collecting our keys from the office, we were given someone else's in addition to our own.
When being called by customer services and making a complaint, I was then given a sales pitch for their sister brand, Shipways. No offer of refund was provided despite the terrible marketing package we were sold.
Thank you, but no thank you Burchell Edwards. We'll be going else where now that you've cost us 8 months of being on the property market, and cost us £216 up front
*Edit added 18/01/22* - In addition to the below, I've had them contact me asking if I would like to market my property with them, completely unaware of the below situation. Clearly they have the memory of a goldfish!!

Bought and sold a house through burchell edwards in Shirley. Very easy process with both and the staff were all helpful. The sales team did a great job with viewings and I’m happy with the price that was negotiated. I’d deffo recommend burchell edwards Shirley to anyone I know selling a house 10/10

Poor service, don't really need to say much, just go experience it for yourself. Similarly to what some have stated, they use unethical methods to lure you. My only question is why aren't they, along with some others regulated, after all it's a huge financial commitment. Furthermore, my only advice is stay well away, like if buying a property in this current climate isn't hard enough, one has to contend with their nonsense. Mr Miles is called Miles for a reason, stay well away.

Our house in Shirley went onto the market in March 2021 and sold very quickly. We interviewed three different estate agents and chose Burchell Edwards, which was a good decision. We found Mitchell very enthusiastic about our property and its location. He had a lot of experience of selling and pricing houses in our location and was able to provide a wide variety of written material with illustrative examples of comparable properties.
He did not overprice our property and in fact it achieved a figure significantly above the asking price (this could of course be partly due to the timing of the sale prior to the stamp duty reduction at the end of June when the house buying market was very buoyant).
The Shirley office arranged groups of viewings and notified us of the number of attended and the timings of viewings. Jake - a member of staff conducted all the viewings arriving in good time to speak with us before they took place and brief us after the viewings had taken place. Prior to the viewings photographs were taken of the property which was displayed on Rightmove. It even appeared as a featured property at some point during the process. There was a lot of interest and offers came in very quickly after viewings. The offers were vetted by the office staff and Mitchell briefed us on the offers so that we could reach a decision as to which offer we should accept. Having sold the house we were able to put in an offer on a property in a more rural location, it was a much older house than in Shirley and Mitchell helped us find a surveyor who specialised in older properties through Burchell Edward’s link with Connells. The detailed survey meant we were able to identify what work needed to be carried out, which was very valuable. This example illustrates that Mitchell remained helpful throughout the whole process until completion. We moved in September 2021.

Is always on the other end of the phone when we need her.. Went out of her way to make sure we got what we were looking for.

I enquired about viewing a property and was told I couldn’t until my house was sold, I rang to update them once my house had sold and they said there were offers on the table if they fell through they’d call me (this was after several calls with them). I then enquired about viewing another house (that was on the market with another agent also) was told they’d call me back with a day available to view.. they never called back. I chose to view said house through the other agency because they were responsive and helpful. Subsequently I bought that house through the other agent so Burchell Edwards missed out on that sale. Ohhh and the original house is still on the market and SHOCK horror they never called me back about that either! Moral of the story if you want to buy a house.. good luck if it’s for sale with them!

Unfortunately their customer service is atrocious! Poor communication, lack of updates and feedback. Tied into a 6 month sole agent contract (which was delightfully never mentioned during intial contact) they regularly cancelled viewings without notice and often late without an update. To top it all off I paid o£225 for their so called "premium marketing service" what a waste of money that was! If your looking to sell your house, do yourselves a favour, find another reputable agent!!!

Cannot fault these guys. Recently had a right hoohah with deciding whether to keep our property or not, decided last minute to change our minds and keep the place, which they have made as easy as possible, haven't made me feel like an idiot for my indecision's prior and have truly made us feel welcomed. Honestly for the level of understanding shown particularly from Chloe the woman I spoke to, I cannot recommend them enough.

Without a doubt the best service I have received by the sales team and the Mortgage Advisor was exceptional helping me throughout the entire home buying process. The team was very knowledgeable and also recommended solicitors that I also was very pleased with. I would recommend anyone looking looking to purchase a home or looking for the best mortgage deals to see Burchell Edwards as the mortgage product I got was substantially better than what my Bank was offering and it took only 8 weeks for my purchase to complete. Dreadful customer service. Once we paid their fees they all of a sudden they moved the goalposts. The guy who was dealing with us didn’t have a clue what he was doing and looked more like he was on work experience. Would advise anyone looking to let to stay away from these guys. Awful.

If I could give negative stars I would! A client of my own knows both Jamie Smart and Tim Burchell and I used Burchell Edwards due to this. I wish that I had gone with Smart Homes. After the initial deal you no longer get to deal with the agent/manager but are passed to other staff. Its high charges are not warranted as first my house was left unsecure after block viewings, paperwork my wife completed was filed and not passed to the solicitor, my driving license was renewed and this was again sat on and not passed on to the solicitor which caused delays in the process. I doubt very much that any rebate on the fees will be given as would never use them again. I have a large network of clients and all are horrified when I tell them. Word Spreads!

Customer service is terrible here. Always get told will get a call back and never do. Always have to ring up and chase up on what I shouldn’t because the agents aren’t doing their job. This branch needs to learn to deal with issues and actually speak to customers rather than keep making excuses. As a whole very slow in responding to queries, and no one ever there who can actually tell you what is happening with your property! Not happy at all

Never, ever again. One of the worse experiences I've ever had. Promise the earth but deliver nothing. They fail to tell you it's a 26 week contract and they have to be the sole vendor, so if you're unhappy with the service, you are stuck with them.
Didn't hear off them for about 2 months and it took a phone call from me to them to find out what was going on.
Have emailed them and phoned them twice in the past week to let them know I'll be going elsewhere and I've just had a phone call back to say it expires next week and there is a 14 day cooling off period?! Yet again, they never tell you this.
I make the 1st march to the 6th September 27 weeks...?
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
I only put one star as I couldn't put zero.
