The worst estate agents.
From start to finish.
Struggled to view property.
Bombarded with sales tactics to use them as our agent.
We bought a property they had on there books and then when the sale wasn’t going as quickly as they wanted they emailed us giving us 3 days to complete or they had advised their client to put it back on the market.
Communication overall was terrible and the branch manager is a bully.
AVOID!!!!

We chose Burchill Edwards because they came across as having the best overall package. We are certainly pleased we did. The package and marketing was great, which resulted in a very quick sale.
I would also say the support from them was excellent. John was always on the end of the phone. If he was unable to sort the problem out himself, he was also able to pass it on to the right person - and ensured it was actioned quickly.
I must also mention the rest of the team at the Tamworth Branch are also excellent!

They sign you on a 26 week contract and after the first 4 weeks they don’t even try to sell your house… they will not release you from the contract so your house just sits there for 5 months with not even any feedback as to why it is not selling.

Tie you in to a 6 month contract, and will not let you out of said contract earlier. They also require two weeks notice to take your house off the market….. they have been absolutely the most horrendous estate agents on this planet. They have done zero to help us in the sale of our house. Shame on you! Excuse after excuse as to why our house is not selling, but no advice on how we can improve viewings etc. we even dropped the asking price by 30000 ! Update: after complying with their 2 week notice policy to remove our house for sale, we finally (after a heated conversation on day 17 to get our house taken off all 3rd party sites) had our house taken off sale on day 18. Does it really take 18 days to press a button !!! If you’re thinking of selling your house….. trust me do not let this company any where near it. If I could give a minus star score I would.

I was very pleased with the service provided by John Wasim and colleagues from Burchell Edwards in Tamworth. John had recommended selling my flat through the 'Modern Auction' process and, despite my initial reservations only because I was unfamiliar with this type of selling, they managed to secure a very reasonable price for the property and the sale is going through so much quicker than the 'traditional' selling method. Unfortunately l have to come here with bad news and how bad mine and my partner’s experience was with Burchell Edwards they wasn’t helpful at all every time we try getting in touch with them it seem like they was ignoring our phone calls we understand they might be busy but this happened a few times we was also told that we could pay a deposit but they never got back to us when they did they told us to pay over the phone as me and my partner suffer form anxiety this made us very nervous as it seem very strange when we phone back to talk to someone called Emily they said they have never heard of her name and said she doesn’t work at this one but the one in Birmingham again this made us very confused as why would you not have it in Tamworth as this is where the property was so we looked on the Burchell Edwards in Birmingham and the name came up but with a different person as the person who showed us around looked noting like her and to top it off didn’t have a name badge to say who she was my partner also had a voicemail off Emily and she was being really rude towards my partner asking why he called at 7 as me my partner works different times we can’t always pick up the phone or call people at a suitable time this experience has made it very difficult to trust any other agency as how bad the experience was with Burchell Edwards we will not be recommending anyone to your company!

AVOID.
Never dealt with more awkward estate agents despite working with several throughout the past year. John made our purchase an unpleasant ordeal. He tried insisting we meet in person with their associated mortgage advisor despite us having our own already and he tried to push us to increase our offer before he presented it to the seller (after we refused to increase it he passed the offer on and it was accepted).
The biggest problem was that he would not let us speak during phone calls as he pushed his own agenda and we finally had to request someone else to speak to as he made us incredibly uncomfortable and frustrated. My partner debated withdrawing our offer purely because of John. Im not sure if he gets comission for referring clients to their own solicitors/mortgage advisor but his attitude was appaling!
Will and Vanessa were far more reasonable and helpful. Its a shame their "top negotiator" is so pushy!

I had my house valued by BE who valued it at a staggering £50,000 more than the other 4 agents and promised they had buyers lined up to buy my house!! Luckily I saw past this nonsense and went with a Next Place (I still had to reduce asking price by £30k due to being a premium property) Would love to know who their magical buyers would have been!
Jon however continued to be extremely pushy and bombarded me with dozens of annoying calls telling me my agent had marketed it incorrectly and pressured me into swapping! Every 5 minutes the phone was going, it was verging on harassment. I had to block the number. This was just the sale…
I later identified a property to purchase going forward which was advertised with both Baristow Eves and Burchell Edwards. Unfortunately I confused myself thinking it was the former that had valued house and been so pushy so I (tried to) purchase it with Burchell Edwards for my sins. A massive mistake on my behalf.
I made an offer which Jon immediately declined without contacting vendor. I made a counter offer which he said would not be accepted either. I told him this was my final offer… guess what? the vendor accepted! Jon them spent half an hour gloating telling me it was a tense negotiation on his behalf and a lot longer pressuring me to use their recommended solicitors (not that he is on commission!) I told him I had my own solicitors tied in with sale of my property but he didn’t give up , telling me how proactive they were and how they have a great relationship. He promised the sale would be complete in no time whatsoever if so used them. The irony! His solicitors were a lot more expensive than mine, and were used by the vendor… more of that to come.
This was mid May.
2 months later in Mid July my solicitor was still to receive ANY correspondence from the vendors solicitor, despite my weekly communication to the sales progression team etc. not even a starter pack, fixtures fittings form nothing. No explanation either.
Unfortunately the vendors father sadly passed away last week but that was after 2 months.
2 weeks ago after being very patient I called the office to pull out of the purchase as I have to be out of my property next week and haven’t time to mess about any more.
I was told that the sales progresser would talk to vendor and find a solution. I suggested vendor paying for my storage costs at least. A week later after constant chasing and still no further along and no solution as much as offered I call office (took 45 mins to answer phone) and by this stage I had totally lost patience and told Jon this was it this time. (Jon didn’t even know the property we was talking about at this point!) Eventually I agreed that the progression manager call me with the facts first thing Monday morning. I’m still waiting for that call!
Wednesday I finally got an email saying that they were contacting the directors at the vendors solicitors. On Friday still no news and so I once again formally emailed all parties informed them I was pulling out and that I had won a property at an auction the same day as was likely to complete a lot sooner so there was zero chance of me continuing.
To my dismay there was no acknowledgment whatsoever no response at all. Shocking. Today is Thursday and finally this afternoon Jon rang me and said he had seen the email (I sent a week ago) but had some “fantastic news for me”.He said that the legal pack had been prepared and that exchange would be very soon. Not sure what planet he was on. I had said I was proceeding with an other property.. Unfortunately too little too late.
Surely they should have been prodding the vendor to complete paperwork etc and been honest with me as to why it was taking so long.
This agent surely likes to talk the talk to attract the business and promise you the world but can’t deliver on these promises. They are also extremely pushy.
I honestly can’t believe the difference between them and Next Place who are totally honest and have gone above and beyond.

I let out my 2 bed apartment with Burchell Edwards Tamworth in January 23 and Reece steadman helped me out from start to finish, Reece was able to arrange viewing within a few days and the flat was gone within the first viewing. Fees were clear and transparent, Reece was so good and where needed , he would drive down to me to pick or drop documents, thank you Reece for your professional and fast service and ooh the after service is amazing. The property was removed from sale in January 2023. The property was let privately by ourselves, following many errors made by Burchell Edwards e.g. paying for the cleaning of an oven that never took place, lack of visits to assess property conditions, the list goes on.
I would not recommend this company.

We have finally completed and I am shocked at how poor the service has been from the sales progression team. JAyne has been looking after my case and the attitude towards getting this completed has been awful. Many times I have had to chase for an update and she didn’t seem bothered at all. She didn’t even call to confirm completion date or exchange day. Or say congratulations on the day. JAyne was Very rude on the phone and abrupt. Many times she was blunt and cut the call before I have even said goodbye. The only member of the team who gave good service is Vanessa she was very helpful.

Can't fault Burchell Edwards for selling our property. Unfortunately due to them advising us and all parties to use Talbot's Law as solicitors as it would make things quicker I have had to downgrade a 5 star rating. PLEASE DO NOT USE TALBOTS LAW!!. Talbot's are quite possibly the most overpaid unorganised bandits I have come across they use a portal which is great for a week. If you do use them good luck and remember to chase them every step of the way and you pay over the odds for the privilege.
Talbot's have contacted me 2 months after the completion statement to advise they are missing £20.00 they are shambolic

Very mixed feelings about Burchell Edwards Tamworth. We Were buying a property from them. It started of easy and simple but once you put an offer on a property they really try bully you into using their services such as their Solicitors and Financial advisors, saying things like "the current owners of the property would prefer us to use their services" or "we feel you will be at a strong disadvantage compared to others who do use our services" All of which was not true at all.. They do this so much that you almost want to cancel the offer just so they leave you alone. However once our property was accepted we had a very Helpful Lady called Vanessa who couldn't do enough for us. she chased for updates and called us often just so we didn't feel isolated. Vanessa was fantastic but sadly she was the only person who seemed to actually care about the customer

Myself and my partner was very interested in a house that Burchell Edwards Tamworth were advertising for sale. We called up on the day that the property was added to their site and we asked for a viewing, we were told that someone would call us back, the following day came and we still hadn’t heard nothing back from them, so we called again and we were told the same thing… again still no call back. All in all there were a total of 7 calls and 2 emails from myself and my partner to Burchell Edwards, trying to simply arrange a viewing, but they just never followed up with getting anything sorted for us, and we were always fobbed off with “someone will be back In touch to arrange that for you”.
I would be very disappointed if that was my house up for sale and they wasn’t following up with peoples viewing requests, as we were very interested in buying the property, we were willing to pay over the asking price and we had no upward chain.
The service was Terrible!

Thomas was a great help and very knowledgable on the property. We viewed many properties on this day but no other estate agent provided insight which was as valuable or was so aware of the house and it’s surroundings. Despite him being new to the role he is a great attribute to the company and I cannot fault the service we received from him.

My house was in a market with them over a year and after about 10 months, had an offer from a buyer. They put me in a pressure to take their solicitor but i refused as i was happy with mine, but they pushed and push ed again. But as i understood the buyer accepted their solicitor. After more than 4 months my solicitor contacted theirs to find out why they don't reply to emails. No luck. I contacted Nathalie at the Tamworth brunch and she didn't show responsibility and we even had argued over phone. looks like they forgot that i was the seller and i was going to pay the commission. To make it short, I was so upset and all i was expected was to COMMUNICATE with me. They are nice people at the brunch but if i want to rate them for communication from 1 to 10, i will give them 2.
Very soon i contacted bairstow eves, Three days later found a buyer and sold my house with no hassle and pain. I won't forget the headache i received from Burchell Edwards. Unfortunately i have to give them one star.

Absolutely awful! They promise you this outstanding service but as soon as you’ve signed that contract be prepared to do everything yourself. We paid extra to have what was described as 360 degrees photos of all the rooms however when they went online they were just basic pictures, we had to do all the viewings ourselves, I appreciate this may be due to COVID but in light of this they should reduce the fees, we had numerous problems throughout the whole process and had to keep chasing to ask for things to be done that should have been done as standard. We complained and was assured our sale would be overseen by the manager to ensure it went smoothly but it was all just words. Luckily we swapped numbers with our buyers as they were also receiving shocking service and didn’t trust them. If possible we avoided contact with Burchell Edwards where possible and any problems we sorted between us. When we completed recently we didn’t receive any communication about what to do with the keys and had to deliver the keys in person to our buyers. It wasn’t until the following week we received and email to say congratulations your sale has completed! I felt sick having to pay £2400 plus the extra money paid for the so called 360 degree photos for what is an absolute embarrassment of a service!

Absolutey shocking customer service.
If I could of rated zero stars, I would of done. The manor of which I was spoken to placing an offer on a property, then followed by pure lack of communication after that fact and left for 10 days with zero communication, was the terrible. I have emailed their head office to make them aware of the service provided within the Tamworth branch. Would suggest any seller going with this branch to reconsider.

We used Burchall Edwards to rent our new home and found them extremely professional right from the viewing through to handing over the keys, nothing was too much trouble. We dealt predominantly with Stephanie Shilton who was very helpful and friendly even after I rang her countless times some days. Would definitely recommend them.

We used Burchell Edwards as their pricing was very competitive and broken down simply and explained thoroughly. The service we received during the viewing process was excellent and cannot be faulted, especially during the current climate. Once the sale was completed our liaison, Vanessa , was a pleasure to be dealing with. Vanessa, kept in regular contact during all stages up to the exchange of contracts and especially during the period where it looked like the chain was going to collapse ( thankfully it didn't ), at this time Vanessa explained everything concise and clearly and in a way that was easy for us to understand and made feel at ease at that uncertain time. Very professional and would recommend Burchell Edwards to anyone thinking of moving home.

Very Unprofessional ,staff do not communicate with each other, and caused me alot of unnecessary stress which I have paid a premium for.please don't appologise again I've had several appologies already and they aren't good enough. Stay away from this branch is my advice !!

Extremely disappointed with the service received and in hindsight wish I hadn't used them. I don't think they quite realised that I was their customer who ultimately would pay their commission! Communication was poor and I was constantly chasing for updates; only to be told by the area manager that essentially when I do phone for updates if I am given the information I am after whats the problem. Between them and my solicitor no one knew 7 working days before completion that the buyer hadn't a mortgage in place?? I don't even understand how that could happen! Never sold a house before and this experience has now made my new house my forever home as I am not going through that again! Awful. Credit to the manager, because after I raised my concerns she stepped in and at least communication picked up.
