After a disappointing experience with another letting agent, I approached Chancellors for a property they advertised online. Matthew Collins responded to my inquiries promptly and since has been professional, responsive and helpful. He is reassuring and supportive from the first phone call to filling up application from process and I am sure he will continue to do so during my tenancy with Chancellors. He took the time to do the viewing with me, and answered all my questions patiently and in a friendly and respectful manner. Communication with Matthew has been clear and maintained so I am never on a blind spot, every step of the way. I feel that I can rely on him with everything to do with my tenancy.

This is mine and my boyfriends first time renting so we decided to go with chancellors as on the website, the properties were nicer. So we applied for a couple of viewings and we had Matthew Collins ring us. I can honestly say, he is fab! We can't fault him at all! He explained everything there was to know about renting a property, which was great. We viewed a property and we wasnt accepted first time so Matthew found another (and better place) to view. Now that we have been accepted for a property, Matthew has spoken to me about the next steps to take. He is polite, friendly, extremely helpful and I would 100% recommend him to other people. Booked viewings that then were cancelled. I could not choose what to view because the properties were too different (??). Other agents offered video viewings to narrow the search, but they didn't.

Property Management - Bad (2 stars); Unresponsive, refused to fix minor/major issues
Check Out - Okay (3 stars)
Deposit Returning - Terrible (1 star); It took 1 month from check out to receiving a notice of deductions. The deductions were unreasonable, and when we challenged them we were ghosted and did not receive any replies. It is now 2 months after check out and Chancellors have held the entire deposit for this time, including the undisputed amount. This isn't paperwork, it's real money that could be a mortgage payment or several food shops, and the delay and lack of responsiveness is inexcusable.
Overall - Okay (3 stars)
Advice - Apply the same level of excellence you apply to sales to property management and check out management

Update - Almost 3 months after moving out, we finally have our deposit back. The TDS adjudicator assessed that the amount Chancellors recommended as a deduction was almost double what was reasonable. Chancellors make their recommendations based on 'their experience', and don't seek quotes. I would advise anyone to challenge the deductions that Chancellors suggest. Unfortunately, this process takes at least 4 weeks and up to 8 when using the TDS, and most renters can't afford to be without their deposit for this long. Once again, the system is stacked against the individual and favours the landlord.
I hope that Chancellors review their deduction recommendation process and are more open to a dialogue with tenants (before they leave a lukewarm review on google). Communication was sent repeatedly and not acknowledged.
