We have had mixed experiences with estate agents over the years. Demi at Maidenhead’s chancellors has been a breath of fresh air. We have dealt with Demi all the way through the process from valuation to sell.

Demi has always gone the extra mile. Problems early on where taken on personally and has always made herself available including a day off at a crucial time of the process.

We highly recommend Demi and the Maidenhead branch.

Absolutely disgusted with the treatment of chancellors estate agents!! After unforeseen circumstances we had to remove our property from the market, we did this within the agreed 14 day cooling off period.....however, we recieved threatening phone calls and emails demanding a payment! We queried this and reminded them of the 14 days cooling off period. This resulted in an absence of contact with us except a county court judgment for £400. Do not use this estate agents.

I had a slightly mixed experience when selling my flat with Chancellors. Everything upto agreeing the sale price was spot on - the photos were excellent, Demi found a buyer within 2 days of the flat going on the market and they secured a much better price than I expected. However, the sales progression was poor. It took more than 5 months to complete the sale. Part of that was undoubtedly due to the flat being leasehold but in my view they were also culpable. The communication was sporadic and they were so slow to respond at times I ended up chasing them and escalating to a team lead who in fairness moved things along. It's a shame because the rest of the service was excellent.

We had an offer accepted on a property (being sold by Chancellors) in January 2019 and still do not have an exchange date as of today (1 October 2019). Our agent has not provided regular comprehensive updates as to what the various hold ups have been and I'm not even sure she knows the full details, which is incredibly disappointing. At some points in the process, we have had to speak to the other estate agents in the chain just to get some clarity. What contact we have had feels like our agent is just checking in to see that we're okay desperately clinging on to our purchase. I don't feel that our agent has made any attempt to drive our purchase forward and has in fact now gone on holiday for a month without even notifying us. Our previous mortgage offer expired because of this extreme delay in getting anything moving, so we've been put through additional stress and expense. At this point it doesn't even feel like Chancellors care whether we buy the property or not and we're pretty close to calling it a day just so we don't have to deal with you any more. Very frustrating.

Endless phone calls and emails aside - Chancellors are fatally let down by the 'South East Management' team when it comes to managed lettings.
I opted for the 'fully managed' option for an easy life, yet 'INFURIATING' is probably the only word to describe what it's like dealing with the management team, thus unfortunately, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you avoid Chancellors for lettings.

Victoria at this branch has contacted me relentlessly - virtually to the point of harassment. Even after I've told her multiple times in the past not to ever contact me again, the calls continue. These people are like a dog with a bone. As soon as they got my details they will *not* stop emailing and phoning me about letting my property through them. Their internal systems are a disaster.

Plenty of good estate agents out there. Would avoid Chancellors, and in particular Victoria, at all costs.

Tennants beware! We've waited over 4 weeks for an update on our deposit since vacating one of their properties. This was delayed because our landlords had conveniently gone on holiday.

Chancellors have since responded and are currently trying to take £800+ in "maintenance costs". They didn't even send a breakdown or an itemised bill of these costs. It's another thing we've had to chase.

They want a brand new toilet! A new bath panel! The house wasn't even that great of shape when we first moved in. There has been no deliberate damage caused to this property and after two years they should allow wear and tear. The things listed are very minor but are charging a small fortune.

As tenants we don't feel as though we have any support from Chancellor's. We'll probably have to go through TDS of any chance of seeing our money back which will only drag out longer.

This is a time where we need this money more than ever. We looked after this home as if it were our own and left it in the best possible condition we could. It was not perfect to start with and these charges are completely unreasonable. Please avoid.

I can definitely recommend the Chancellors in Kidlington if you are looking to rent in the area. They were very friendly, extremely helpful, and provided constant updates. We received far better service here than any other agent we tried, and can especially recommend them if you're having trouble finding a pet-friendly property, as they definitely go the extra mile to help you out. Special thanks to Kayleigh and Jack for looking after us.

Nightmare dealing with Chancellors Newbury as a tenant.

House was listed as available on 28th Aug. We go ahead with this and start organising around that day. Turns out it's not available that day and earliest we can move in is the 1st Sept. Not a big issue, annoying, but we could work around that. Partner starts work on 3rd, so gives 2 days to get unpacked.

For 3 weeks leading up to that date, we're chasing for tenancy agreement. All forms we had been sent now mysteriously had 4th Sept, and I repeatedly asked for this to be corrected to the 1st Sept as we had now agreed, but nothing came.

Tenancy agreement finally comes 2 working days before we move in. Wrong date. I chase this and 1 working day before we move in, we finally get a tenancy agreement with the correct date. I pay the deposit and rent, and think that all the stress and hassle with Chancellors is now behind us, but little did I know...

Moving day. I call Chancellors to arrange getting the keys. 3 calls (9am, 9.30am, 10am), all get diverted to Chancellors HQ (bracknell) because no one answers phones in Chancellors Newbury. I'm told all 3 times that they'll mark it as urgent and I should get a call shortly. Finally I get a response from Chancellors about 2hrs after they've opened. They tell me I have to collect keys from Landlord. I call the landlord and he is not in the country at the time. He says Chancellors have the keys, but I can collect his spare from his daughter. 2hr round trip, where I only manage to get a single front door key. The furniture doesn't fit through the front door. Fed up, we drive to Chancellors Newbury, as the landlord said they have the full set of keys.

Arrive at Chancellors and they say that the landlord hasn't done the electrical safety certificate and that they cannot hand over the keys (the keys they told me the landlord had!!) because they're facing a £30k fine if they do that. Why not tell me that in the first place rather than making me drive around Hampshire? The manager there (Sue, I believe) explains she can only give the keys to the landlord or an electrician. So we're stuck. Vans full of furniture, and no where to go. No sincere apology, or help to arrange an electrician to come out and sort it immediately. She just blames the landlord. We don't care who's fault it is, we just want to move in, as we had arranged with Chancellors to move that day.

Finally get the keys when someone the landlord has sent comes to Chancellors. He takes the keys from them, walks 2m and passes them to us.

Since then, no apology. Nothing from Chancellors to apologise for not checking the property was ready to move into on the day we agreed with them. Nothing from them to apologise for making us drive halfway round Hampshire to find keys which they actually had. Very poor handling of the whole situation.

Where possible, avoid using Chancellors! Extremely poor organisational skills throughout the entire process then just blame the landlord when Chancellors themselves were the only people we were dealing with.
