My recent rental application experience with Chancellors was nothing short of a nightmare.
After initially being chosen as the next tenant (following the first applicant's failure to make payment), communication went silent for over a week. Then, a mere five days before my move-in date, I was inundated with emails demanding various forms and third-party applications be signed and signed up to, even though I had already submitted extensive documentation, including references and a passport copy.
Three days before moving, I was told I couldn't proceed without signing up for the Letting Hub, a platform I'd expressed reservations about due to its invasive data collection practices. I had already offered six months' rent in advance and provided all necessary references to negate this requirement. which I had explained.
Subsequently, I was informed that the landlords now required a full year's rent upfront due to my alleged refusal to provide references, a claim that was blatantly untrue.
Feeling coerced into a significantly larger upfront payment, I initially declined. However, given my predicament, I counter-offered with nine months' rent in advance. This was met with three days of silence, punctuated only by automated emails urging me to sign various agreements.
Finally, just one day before my move, Mr. Hazem Roushdy contacted me to reiterate that proceeding without the Letting Hub was impossible. He also denied that the option of 12 months' rent without the platform had ever been offered, despite my having received this in writing.
The lack of transparency, professionalism, and constantly shifting requirements throughout this ordeal have caused me immense stress and inconvenience, leaving me without accommodation on the eve of my move.
I strongly advise anyone considering Chancellors to exercise extreme caution.... Read more

I felt that the original valuation was done get my business. Viewings were few. The a short notice appointment that I was not required to enable - which was not normal. The offer was £100k less and the comments were negative. I rather felt that I had been set up to sell to a speculator and the weeks with no viewings were part of the setup!... Read more

Landlords should AVOID. My property is currently let through Chancellors, I made a complaint about not receiving the correct amount of rent from Chancellors before Christmas and they have still not paid this! The branch agreed I was owed over £500, but Emma Cotterell in the Property Management team has ignored 5 emails, 3 phone calls and a formal complaint email. I am now escalating to the estate agents and lettings team at Trading Standards because I'm getting nowhere.... Read more
