It was a complicated situation, plus we are French students so we had a lot of agencies turning us down. However Margaret Lombard from Chase Evans really invested herself into our case and is the reason why we were able to find an appartement in London.

Really professional agency.
After finding an ad online, we went to visit the apartment.
We met Margaret Lombard, who is very good at her job. Friendly and polite, she made us visit more than one apartment to finally find the one that best suited us.
Of course she helped and followed us throughout the process.

I had an appointment to view two flats in Pinnacle Apartments in Croydon. The agent did not turn up. After repeated calls to mobile and texts, there was no reply. I called the office number and was told the best way to contact him was via email when I was already at the property.

This is a viewing for two properties at Pinnacle. It is extremely unprofessional to not get in touch or return my calls for a missed appointment. I would not deal with them again.

Wonder what would happen if we had agreed on sale and they ghosted at that point.

Not a great experience with these guys at all. Firstly lots of delays when we had made an offer and they were liasing with the landlord. Then when the offer was accepted, deposit and referencing started, the admin assistant made a huge fuss out of me going to Greenwich (currently based in the other side of London) to show my passport during the COVID crisis which to me, was completely unacceptable and somewhat dangerous with everything going on. She only gave up when I mentioned my lung condition and they could do it over VC after all...

Then I got a phone call from them saying the existing tenant had decided to stay so the property was now unavailable and they would have to terminate the process. The current tenant hadn't been in touch with them either way to confirm if she was continuing to stay or not, so they went ahead and marketed the property as if all was fine and booked a check out for the tenant. Due to the changes in COVID restrictions they apparently could not force her out (not what these legislations were made for but that's another issue!). This in my opinion is sloppy and it just doesn't add up. Apparently the tenant had gone back to Asia at the start of the COVID crisis and they knew this - so I don't know how they were planning the check out. I then offered to wait for the 3 months eviction period and to commence the tenancy after that, but I was told that the current tenant pays annually so the landlord would rather have the money upfront. Greed over a reliable and communicative tenant I guess.

I've never left a bad review in my life, but the rental scene has been a nightmare the past few months and this situation has really put us out to the point that it's left me without anywhere to stay and back at my parents as my old tenancy ended. Do your due diligence before you market properties and allow for some transparency.

Chase Evans has been very helpful in the process of moving in to our apartment at Meranti House. Due to Covid-19 we were not able to view the apartment beforehand but we received a virtual tour and the apartment lived up to all our expectations once we got here. Especially thanks to Ahmad who has been extremely helpful and professional. He has done everything to accommodate our wishes and help with questions. I would recommend Chase Evans for anyone who is looking for a new apartment. The one we are living in now is amazing and we are super happy!

Our experience with Chase Evans was terrible. Despite having a good sales team (thank you Saleem Akhtar), most property managers offer zero support whenever you have an issue. We had a one year contract but left the flat as soon as the six-month break clause allowed us because we were completely ignored every time we had a problem - despite paying almost £1,700 in rent per month. Once, when our boiler broke and started leaking - causing damage to our flat, as well as those below, and creating a fire risk - the emergency service told us to go and sleep at a hotel at our own cost. A complete joke. And the issue was only sorted thanks to the building's management because, almost 24 hours later, Chase Evans had done NOTHING to help us, but only made us suffer, leaving us without water in the flat. In six months, we changed five or six different property managers and every time we called to report an issue, we were told the property manager was on break or having lunch. Most of our emails and requests got ignored. Getting the deposit back took almost three months and we had to keep emailing them to finally get someone to look at our deposit. Only thanks to Muhammad Carr (thank you for your help), we eventually got most of it back. It's a shame because they have nice properties, but the service is absolutely shambolic. Avoid.
