Absolutely dreadful! Don’t trust this office! If you are thinking of purchasing from them, beware of their underhanded practice of gazumping. If I could give them 0 stars I would! In late November last year I made a cash offer on a property as it had a low lease. The finance was arranged in their own office using services provided by themselves. I was told that the offer was accepted and that the purchase of the lease could all be done at same time. They were simply waiting for the valuation of the lease. I booked another viewing with them to work out what was needed for renovations. Just before leaving we noticed the agent showing someone else around the property. I rang the office and questioned this and was informed not to worry everything was fine and the property was mine. I kept in constant contact them throughout the whole of December being told to call back after Christmas and New Year as nothing would be done over that period. The first week in January I called back and was told that they had resold it to someone who had offered a higher offer on the 17th of December! The agent told me it had been sold whilst he wasn’t there and no one seemed to know who had sold it. Understandably I was devastated and upset and demanded to speak to the manager. He informed me he was new and couldn’t understand it himself as he had 12 offers pending on the same property. No one in the office could tell him anything! The amount of excuses didn’t ring true due to the constant contact I had had with them. He also told me that he couldn’t apologise more and ensured me that he would do his utmost to find me another equal property. Never heard another word from him since!... Read more

Can't rate all of our experiences with Dixons Harborne highly enough. Always professional and caring whilst also personable and approachable. The management of our property has been top rate. Whenever problems have arisen, as sadly they inevitably do, we've always had nothing but praise for them. We really feel they work in the best interest of our property rather than either the landlord or tenant. For us that's very refreshing and gives us confidence in dealing with them long term. We had considered selling our property but since moving to Dixons Harborne we are now considering using them for another property. Thanks all at Dixons Harborne!... Read more

An unpleasant experience dealing with Dixons Harborne. We took measures to purchase a property that, it turned out, had already been sold. On investigation it turned out we were used as leverage to force the other party to exchange, incurring significant costs in the process. The agency claimed to have not been aware, however correspondence recorded on their own CRM (system) indicated otherwise, that the "previously interested, no longer involved party" had in fact expressed continued interest and intended to exchange the whole time. This information was never communicated to us by the agency, and we were none the wiser until a full fortnight after the fact, when they exchanged beneath us, seemingly (but not actually) out of nowhere. After a meeting with the buyer, we discovered that their offer had never been off the table, and that the agency and the sellers' solicitors had been contacting them daily to force the exchange through. If Dixons had been transparent with the information they knew, we would never have made an offer on the property, let along incurred costs under the pretence that we might have been able to make the exchange. Further to this, we mystery shopped another apartment several weeks later, only to discover that that was *also* sold, and we were advised that we should rush to exchange in order to beat the other purchasers out of their sale. Not illegal, but extremely underhanded and makes a mockery of agents that act in good faith and on behalf of potential purchasers. A wholly unpleasant experience, so much so that even if our dream home came up on Dixons' books, we would avoid. Edit: Response has claimed to not have my details on file. I have resubmitted them directly to the agents for confirmation that this was in fact a legitimate occurrence and that unfortunately, The Property Ombudsman are also now involved. For anyone curious the internal complaints process involved about two months of internal investigation, (initial and then escalated). You have to complete these steps before engaging TPO, so best to get that out if the way as promptly as possible (the old "we investigated ourselves and found no issues" nugget..waste of time)... I am a landlord. I assumed that because Dixon’s is a big name and reputable estate agent, my property would be safe in their hands. I was wrong. I received a call telling me the current tenants will be leaving however they are unable to let my property as the tenants have left it in an un-lettable state. These tenants found and vetted by Dixon’s have left my house damaged, vandalised (including defacing walls, smashing my house alarm to pieces, removing doors) and dirty. These are the kind of tenants Dixon’s have put into my property. To add insult to injury, they send me a quote for thousands of pounds to put the property back into a lettable state. I am still chasing them to get the deposit from the tenants, no luck so far. I have decided to take back the management of my property because whilst Dixon’s is happy to charge and take letting and management fee from myself and the tenants they are incapable of providing a good service to landlords. If you are a landlord, I would personally advise against giving your house to Dixon’s. I would suggest instead you find a team of builders and manage the property yourselves. This experience has put me off agents and I am thoroughly disappointed with Dixon’s and the costly bill I have been left with as a result of their tenants, not to mention the empty property which I cannot let.... I was impressed with Dixons from the start. They provided a realistic valuation and produced a great listing with excellent photos. They also advised me about preparing the property for viewings. A sale was agreed within days of listing my property. Unfortunately, matters did not progress smoothly due to complications which had nothing to do with Dixons and the sale took far longer than expected to complete. Throughout the process, they kept me informed and worked really hard to get the matter resolved, which we eventually did. I was always able to get in touch with the people handling my sale and found them approachable, efficient and knowledgeable. Everybody I dealt with at the branch was great, but Sue and Sarah deserve a special mention for making a complicated and drawn-out process as stress-free as possible.... Read more
