I recommend the team at Galloways as they are friendly and professional. I was impressed that they came armed with local market research at the very first meeting and we had a good conversation about the property. Despite the best efforts of Liz Truss's brief tenure as PM, we were able to secure an offer last Autumn and finally completed today. They kept me informed throughout. 4 stars because I think that the initial advert needed a little bit more copy editing on my part than I was expecting and the Propertyfile app didn't really add much value, but perhaps could do if more features were developed. However in the end neither of those things had substantive bearing on the outcome and overall a really nice bunch to deal with.... Read more

We sold our flat in Tulse Hill with Galloways in May 2022. We sold the flat quickly and were satisfied with the amount it sold for. From the time we accepted the offer to completion, everything went smoothly. At this point in the process, there was good communication both from our agent Jon and the rest of the team.
However, the process of putting the flat on the market and doing viewings with Galloways was very stressful for us. The main reasons were bad communication and feeling like we had to chase and push them to get our preferences met.
We found communicating with Jon very difficult in the beginning. We were very surprised to be told that agents at Galloways do not have work mobile phones / direct numbers (!) so we were only given the branch office phone number. Obviously estate agents are out doing viewings all the time so it was very frustrating not being able to communicate with Jon directly. Jon mentioned early on that he would give us his personal number if we wanted it, but he never did, despite me asking for it in emails and over the phone several times. In the first few weeks, many emails I sent to Jon were ignored and I had to repeatedly ask for him to call us.
We also feel like our preferences weren’t properly acknowledged and accommodated to. When Jon did the valuation of our property he said that he would organise back to back viewings on a Saturday to make the most of the buoyant market at the time (April 2022). This appealed to us as the most convenient way to do viewings (as we have a baby) and a good way to get the best offer we could. This block viewing suggestion was one of the reasons we went with Galloways. We had a specific Saturday that worked for us and spoke with Jon about this being when we'd like to have viewings. However, after the photos were done early in the week, we heard nothing about the listing going online in time for viewings to be arranged for the Saturday, despite us reiterating several times that it was important to us. I sent several emails to Jon about getting the listing up ASAP, which were ignored. I wasn’t even sure he was reading or receiving them. It wasn't until the Thursday afternoon, when I walked into the branch looking to talk face to face with Jon, that I suddenly heard from an agent at the Streatham office rushing to finish our listing. He was very friendly and helpful but hadn't even visited our property so this was another inconvenience/stress for us as I was trying to explain important details over the phone - like the fact our flat has a garden office and that this was one of the main selling points to be emphasised on the listing. I'm not sure why Jon had not typed up his own property description for the listing by then as he was the one who had visited and valued the flat two weeks previously.
With all of my chasing and pushing, the listing ended up going online on Thursday evening, leaving one day for people to organise viewings for the Saturday. In the end, 3 viewings were arranged but again I had to remind Galloways of our preference to have them back to back that day. So we had 3 viewings as opposed to the 8-10 we could have had if the listing was online earlier and how many viewings we were told could be arranged on a day of block viewings. We did end up getting a good offer from one of these viewings but I do believe that if the block viewings had been arranged properly, we could have had a better offer- maybe from a sealed bid/ ‘best and final’ offer situation.
There were other frustrations due to a lack of communication from Jon. We had to chase for feedback from viewings each time. Also, the potential buyers arrived early to the Saturday viewings but Jon didn’t knock or ring the bell and started letting himself into our flat while we were still getting ourselves ready. He could easily let us know in advance. He also said he’d call us to let us know when he’d finished the viewings but on both occasions he didn’t so we had to guess when we could return to our flat. This all could have been avoided if we had had Jon’s direct number!... Read more
