Noah did a great job selling our place and was very kind and responsive. The main reason we chose Galloways was they were realistic on valuation and generally decent, for example they were upfront with our potential buyers about previous issues with the property rather than trying to lie about it as some agents planned to. I would say they could have maybe leaned into sales tactics more hence 4 rather than 5 stars - for example we reduced our offer to buyer to speed up sale, but this led to mortgage needing to be redone which actually slowed it down and they could have foreseen that and warned us about this. Overall though, would recommend.

I have been looking to rent a flat in South East London. I registered with Galloways because I knew they were a local independent agent with good knowledge of the area. Aston arranged a viewing on a flat in Penge. He let me take my time to walk around the flat and take photos. He was also very patient in answering my many questions. Penge is not an area I know well, so Aston thoughtfully suggested if I wanted to get a coffee there is a cafe and garden centre in the area, he showed me on the map and even walked me in that direction. This was such a thoughtful and helpful thing to do, and helped me to get more familiar with what is available in the area. Very different to some agents who seem to be in a rush to get to their next appointment and dont have time to answer all my questions. I have already recommended Galloways to a friend who might be looking to sell her house and buy something else in the area.

I recommend the team at Galloways as they are friendly and professional. I was impressed that they came armed with local market research at the very first meeting and we had a good conversation about the property. Despite the best efforts of Liz Truss's brief tenure as PM, we were able to secure an offer last Autumn and finally completed today. They kept me informed throughout. 4 stars because I think that the initial advert needed a little bit more copy editing on my part than I was expecting and the Propertyfile app didn't really add much value, but perhaps could do if more features were developed. However in the end neither of those things had substantive bearing on the outcome and overall a really nice bunch to deal with.

We sold our flat in Tulse Hill with Galloways in May 2022. We sold the flat quickly and were satisfied with the amount it sold for. From the time we accepted the offer to completion, everything went smoothly. At this point in the process, there was good communication both from our agent Jon and the rest of the team.
However, the process of putting the flat on the market and doing viewings with Galloways was very stressful for us. The main reasons were bad communication and feeling like we had to chase and push them to get our preferences met.
We found communicating with Jon very difficult in the beginning. We were very surprised to be told that agents at Galloways do not have work mobile phones / direct numbers (!) so we were only given the branch office phone number. Obviously estate agents are out doing viewings all the time so it was very frustrating not being able to communicate with Jon directly. Jon mentioned early on that he would give us his personal number if we wanted it, but he never did, despite me asking for it in emails and over the phone several times. In the first few weeks, many emails I sent to Jon were ignored and I had to repeatedly ask for him to call us.
We also feel like our preferences weren’t properly acknowledged and accommodated to. When Jon did the valuation of our property he said that he would organise back to back viewings on a Saturday to make the most of the buoyant market at the time (April 2022). This appealed to us as the most convenient way to do viewings (as we have a baby) and a good way to get the best offer we could. This block viewing suggestion was one of the reasons we went with Galloways. We had a specific Saturday that worked for us and spoke with Jon about this being when we'd like to have viewings. However, after the photos were done early in the week, we heard nothing about the listing going online in time for viewings to be arranged for the Saturday, despite us reiterating several times that it was important to us. I sent several emails to Jon about getting the listing up ASAP, which were ignored. I wasn’t even sure he was reading or receiving them. It wasn't until the Thursday afternoon, when I walked into the branch looking to talk face to face with Jon, that I suddenly heard from an agent at the Streatham office rushing to finish our listing. He was very friendly and helpful but hadn't even visited our property so this was another inconvenience/stress for us as I was trying to explain important details over the phone - like the fact our flat has a garden office and that this was one of the main selling points to be emphasised on the listing. I'm not sure why Jon had not typed up his own property description for the listing by then as he was the one who had visited and valued the flat two weeks previously.
With all of my chasing and pushing, the listing ended up going online on Thursday evening, leaving one day for people to organise viewings for the Saturday. In the end, 3 viewings were arranged but again I had to remind Galloways of our preference to have them back to back that day. So we had 3 viewings as opposed to the 8-10 we could have had if the listing was online earlier and how many viewings we were told could be arranged on a day of block viewings. We did end up getting a good offer from one of these viewings but I do believe that if the block viewings had been arranged properly, we could have had a better offer- maybe from a sealed bid/ ‘best and final’ offer situation.
There were other frustrations due to a lack of communication from Jon. We had to chase for feedback from viewings each time. Also, the potential buyers arrived early to the Saturday viewings but Jon didn’t knock or ring the bell and started letting himself into our flat while we were still getting ourselves ready. He could easily let us know in advance. He also said he’d call us to let us know when he’d finished the viewings but on both occasions he didn’t so we had to guess when we could return to our flat. This all could have been avoided if we had had Jon’s direct number!

I have used Galloways to let and more recently sell my property. Even before I was a customer, Steve who is one of the owners, gave me advice on the aesthetics of my internal décor and I gladly took this on board. Fast forward to 3 years later and I was finally in a position to let my property.
Galloways sourced great tenants and ensured they were referenced correctly and kept me informed at all times. I opted for a fully managed service and it was definitely worth it, my input was minimal and there were some minor issues with general repairs but Galloways always ensured these were sorted ASAP.
I more recently decided to sell and within a few days the team secured a sale in excess of the asking price. During the process, again they provided a constant communication channel between myself and the buyer.
I honestly cannot fault the high level of service, professionality, local knowledge, value for money along with the honesty and integrity of the team in Galloways. I’ve dealt with other estate agents in the past and they do not even come close.
I highly recommend Steve and the rest of the team, thank you to you all!

I couldnt recommend Galloways West Norwood Branch enough. We have experienced both sides of the purchase process with them; buying a house through them and they have most recently sold our property. They are always a phone call away and always kept us updated. Their valuations are appropriate and realistic and therefore attract many prospective purchasers through the door. Their particular strength is the negotiation process, keeping the chain intact and closing out the purchase. The best estate agency covering West Dulwich and surrounding areas.

I wanted to get my own place last Nov, 2020but after having some bad and unprofessional experiences with some other agencies and I was about to give a break then I came across a new listing that listed by Galloways in Norwood. I made the contact with them and got a quick reply and also was offer a viewing right away.
Ryan was my agent and he was very professional and most of all responsive. Many others I had the “privileged” to deal with didn’t reply emails, phone calls and messages or a simple yes, no for my lengthy inquiries. As a potential buyer I had to keep chasing them for answers and the sellers probably wondered why nobody was interested in their’s flats.
Long story short, the contracts have now been exchanged and Ryan and I were updating each other along the way. He did an excellent job and I will recommend Ryan and Galloways to anyone buyers or sellers in confidence. They will be my choice too of course if I ever need to buy or sell again. Couple of years ago I rented flat through Galloways. It surprised me how fair play attitude they had. They were making sure that landlord has to offer quality. They are very friendly, helpful and professional. You can ask as many questions as you want. They don't rush and never give you this condescending attitude that is very common among estate agents. I hope that one day they get a national recognition. They should be an example of how good estate agent can be with right principals.

I do not recommend this agency to anyone. They are not responsive and won’t help you when you have problems at the property. They will not pick up their phones and will answer to your emails weeks later. They did not even provide the landlord details so I could talk to him directly. At the end of the tenancy they charged me for cleaning even though the house was professionally cleaned and invoices where provided.

Galloways have been very helpful in finding me a tenant and later to sell my flat.
Although the flat didn’t get sold by them, the team did a good job in getting the photos done, a detailed property particulars were put on the rightmove website and the listing wasn’t taken down without any delay when the sales contract came to an end.

We were with Galloways for 2 and half years in a one bed property. Moved in to a one bed flat that did not even have a deep clean, needed a fresh lick of paint and needed a good refurb. Never missed a single payment, we then decided to move in which all the big trouble started happening whereby they are attempting to take most of our deposit due the property needing to be painted, installing a new smoke alarm (£100.00!) which was already installed and a deep clean which we actually agreed to. BE CAREFUL IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT USING THEM! DEPOSIT WILL BE TAKEN AT ANY OPPORTUNITY.

My wife and I can't thank the West Norwood team enough for all the help in finally finding the right property for us. As anyone who has searched for a new home will attest, the industry is not the best at customer service. Galloways are the opposite, the entire team are customer focused.
Steve originally showed us the first property in our search and unfortunately things didn't work outwith that property. Darren was fantastic to deal with too when we were trying to get our bid accepted.
Jon has been amazing since and we have just exchanged this week on a complete project (not our original plan) so are over the moon. Nothing was too much trouble for Jon and his proactive communication is extremely appreciated. Will definitely recommend Galloways West Norwood to friends and family, plus will use them again if we decide to move on in 10 years or so.

Sadly I must say that this is a very judgemental estate agent.. I have called them numerous times about renting property to only be shut down because I receive government support while my child is not yet school age. Only to be told that branded estate agents would not take me on (a lie as I'm currently looked after by KFH) told to go to omega .. there are others on the high st that are there for people like me.. pedder .. winkworth .. estate agents with much higher reputations that understand the situation. And haven't seen me as a negative.. today's call to the estate agents went like this...
Me: : hello I'm calling in regards to a property on park hall rd.
Galloway: yes would you like to see it.
M: Well yes but firstly could you tell me if they will take on government support.
G: No.. that landlord won't
M: Ok.. do you have any that do at the minute..
G: no.. none
M: Ok. Do you ever have any..
G: No.. we don't. I'll give you some advice .. go to omega.. as the high st estate agents won't help
M: that's a lie as I'm with KFH and they've been amazing.. pedder too are able to help!
G: KFH!! He says. Well we work for the landlord. And it's their choice
M: I say.. yes my agent says it's "how you speak to the landlord" perhaps galloways just has a negative image of government support
G: No.... bye bye .. mind you this is shouted at me down the phone!!
And he hung up.....
This is appalling customer service .. and it's an estate agent governed by narrow minded individuals.. yes I have two young children the youngest is part time in the nursery. I work the hours he's in and yet still I'm on a low income. This is me for now. In a year my youngest will be full time and I'll be back to work .. I've been on an impressive salary in past years but taken a back seat while the children are young. Is this a crime!! I'm still categorised into some box .. and all I want is to move because the property I live in was sold due to the landlord not being able to renew his mortgage. I'm now I'm on a deadline of 2 months.
Shame on you Galloways Estate. I called you back and said I would spread the word. Your people skills are revolting ..

Wow, reading these reviews makes me wonder if this is the same company I'm dealing with. Daren was extremely nice when we first met him (so the two stars are for him) but unfortunately he's been off for a few weeks and it's almost as if no one there knows or even care about the business that we were doing with him. AND that woman that answers the phone, her attitude sucks. It's a shame really, I've had experiences with 3 other letting agencies in the South Norwood area and this is by far the worst. If the process wasn't halfway done and we hadn't already paid them all that money for referencing and holding property and what not then I would've just cancelled the entire thing.

Sasha and Steve were totally excellent throughout the process of selling our flat and buying a new house. Steve’s valuation thankfully wasn’t aggressive and he didn’t try to pump the market like the other agents I met (which I cannot stand). Immediately I felt I could trust Steve and the team. Sasha managed our sale and she was really helpful, friendly and professional throughout. Sasha offered great advice and diffused my tensions when things got stressful as they invariably do when buying and selling. They always had time to chat and I could pop by whenever to discuss things. They gave suggestions on the best way to present information to the buyers so that everyone was a winner – we had several purchases fall through over six months and the final couple of weeks was completely bonkers and so it was brilliant having Sasha to guide us through so calmly and nicely. A very human experience and I would highly recommend Galloways to anyone. Thanks so much, we are thrilled with our new home so it was all worthwhile!

Where do i start - the whole experience of using Galloways has been fantastic from start to finish!
As soon as we met Steve and Sasha we knew they were a very rare breed - estate agents who are honest and will be totally upfront with you. You do not feel you are "just a number" which is very refreshing. They have years of experience in the industry and are lovely people to deal with. There is no hard sell - just honesty, integrity and professionalism.
Their valuation of our property was totally spot on - unlike some of the high street names who totally over-inflate prices to win the business then tell you 3 months later the "market has dipped" and you have to reduce your price.
They are local experts which puts them streets ahead (excuse the pun) of the competition!
This local knowledge meant that not only did they price the property accurately, they got viewings quickly and of the right caliber.
They also worked extremely hard to get us the best price and we were delighted with the end result - even a few weeks after Brexit they got us viewings and a reasonably quick sale at the price we wanted!!
You really get the feeling they are totally with you every step of the way and want make the whole process as smooth as possible.
We had a number of serious legal issues during our sale and purchase and this was handled wonderfully by the team at Galloways with them going above and beyond to make everything happen.
They even recommended a fantastic solicitors who, coupled with Galloways made a formidable team!
In contrast to the online estate agent and solicitors used by our seller they were light years ahead. Although slightly cheaper than Galloways they were absolutely awful! i did not get a phone call in 7 weeks from the sellers estate agent and had to do all their work for them - Gallows on the other hand called me constantly with updates and were always available - filling me with confidence that everything was going to happen.
I cannot speak more highly of them and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who wants to sell their property in the area.

I too cannot fault my experience with Galloways. They found a buyer for us very quickly and without their relentless hard work I fear the chain we were in would've fallen through on more than one occassion.
We were always kept well informed and the communication between them and rest of the chain was always communicated back to us. One of the most frustrating things about buying a house is not being kept informed as to what's happening. This didn't happen.
We didn't have the biggest most expensive property on their books, but Galloways made us feel just as valued as if we were selling a stately home!

Selling from abroad meant that felt we had to go with one of the bigger estate agents to start with, which was why we initially opted for one of their competitors (Foxtons). The whole experience with them was very disappointing. We never received call backs, the lack of knowledge of the local area was astounding and they crucially failed to obtain a sale for us.
The moment we engaged Galloways the whole experience became good again. We received honest and clear advise on the selling strategy and price, the promised call backs actually happened and they have genuine knowledge and expertise of the area and selling in general. The whole team has been very patient in helping us through an eventually quite complicated sale (not Galloways fault), and did their utmost best to speed up the sale. When the first offer fell through (through no fault of Galloways), Steve and the team went full steam ahead in trying to secure us another buyer - which they did within a week. Steve is also the kind of guy who says he'll call the buyer and phone you straight back and actually do it! Very reliable, very friendly, very knowledgeable about the local area and all in all a relaxed and seamless experience. As with all the other reviews, we can't recommend them highly enough. It's only a shame that we've left the area so we can't use them again in future!!

I recently employed Galloways to sell my flat in West Norwood. The staff in the office were always informative and helpful and I was very impressed when watching them show prospective buyers around. After an offer was accepted the staff kept me constantly updated, and I feel went much further than most estate agents normally would to ensure that my sale went through.
Whilst other estate agents seem to only think about their personal sales bonus Galloways offer exception service in a friendly manner. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone wanting to buy or sell, and I will be using them again when it comes to selling my next property.

Galloways were the dream estate agents from start to finish! I could not recommend the team there enough - they were extremely friendly, helpful and responsive and always professional. I would strongly recommend that anyone looking to buy or sell in the area goes with Galloways, as the service that they offer is far superior than that of any of their competitors. I've just bought my first home and Sasha and the team could not have been more helpful and lovely to deal with - I will certainly be using them again in the future.

Having lost my mother 18 months ago, and having to deal with selling her property recently at an emotional time, it was a pleasure dealing with professional, caring and sympathetic people. they made that whole transaction seamless, even suggesting a few solicitors, who were also wonderful to deal with, took away any pressure. The process was quick and completely trouble free. Would I recommend them? Definitely, I certainly would.

As a first time buyer, I had lots of questions and needed a lot of help and advice with my househunt and purchase.
