Was told that they don't do viewings after 5 on weekdays, so I had to take time off work to get to the property at 4:30. After the viewing, at 5 minutes to 5 I said good-bye to the agent and asked, just as a way of conversation, if she had to drive far in the 5 o'clock rush hour traffic. She responded that she was not driving anywhere because she had another viewing after mine. Sure enough, a car arrived at the property at this point, with the next viewers, so somehow it _was_ possible to do viewings after 5. I do not appreciate being lied to, so I will avoid Jan Forster in the future.

From there we didn't have a specific estate agent we dealt with so we had no real point of contact - we had to chase most days but had rude responses such as 'are you aware the offer was accepted 5 months ago' yes I am very aware as I am the one living out of boxes waiting for my sale to complete

I am happy to recommend Jan Foster estate agents to anyone. I have been using the Forest Hall & High Heaton branches from October 2019 - December 2020. I was in the sad position of having lost my father in 2019 & having to clear and sell the home he lived in and loved for 60 years in Forest Hall. From the outset Lauren & Alayna treated me with sympathy and understanding which made a difficult situation more bearable. They also did the basics very well and marketed the house well and actively, bringing in frequent viewers. We had a buyer at the asking price within 2-3 months. When that buyer backed out they also put me in touch with their auction partners who did get the sale done. Due to Covid & my not living in Newcastle Lauren even read the meters for me on the day of completion. Very nice people, very helpful and they knew the local market in that area. The staff at Jan Forsters are easy to deal with, but don't use their auction services as it goes very much downhill with them. They only sold my property after I withdrew from the auction as a last bid attempt for them not to lose the money. They don't treat it like an auction with 4 bidders 'bidding' the same amount (I thought auctions were supposed to increase on each bid), they then focused on one bidder to negotiate a deal which they pushed hard with. The auction house work for the buyer only and even when they admit the seller is right, do not enforce their contract to complete within 56 days. It took almost 6 months to complete the sale through the auction house.

They have been very helpful and considerate throughout. I would advise conducting your own viewings as you will have a lot more knowledge of your own property. My experience is that the staff conducting the viewings are there as guides only and have little information regarding the property.

Horrendous customer service. They produced a massively over-exaggerated list of issues upon returning our damage deposits, even though we cleaned the property from top to bottom for over 4 hours. When I questioned it, they refused to respond to emails and nobody ever picks up the phone.

Avoid using them if you can. Although yes they are prompt and professional and they do have some nice properties, their fees are scandelous. I was charged £450 for "admin fees". Then told my wife and I had to fill out and submit our own referencing forms - and pay another £15 each for the pleasure. All we received from the letting agent for our £450 was a poorly printed copy of our tenancy agreement. They couldnt even be bothered to sort out the standing order for our rent payment. I hope this new ban on letting agent fees has a massive detrimental effect on Jan Forster's business. Yet to see how much of my deposit they try to steal when I move out.

A really poor experience, awful customer service and rude staff. When we came for the viewing the agent told us there will be a new washer dryer fitted and everything will be good to go from our move in date. When we first move in we speak to the landlord and he's telling us that we will have to buy our own washer dryer or go do our laundry elsewhere. The landlord let us know that he had not spoke with the agency about getting a new washer dryer for the property. We've been in our new home for a week now and we still have not received our agreements which we urgently need to sort out our parking permit. Before we kicked up fuss with the landlord about the washer dryer we went to the agency and they said they could do nothing to help us other than printing a piece of paper for us to go to the citizens advice bureau and usher us out the door as soon as possible before any new clients (wads of cash) walk through the door.
An absolute insult to be paying £360 to an agency which has clearly mis-sold us the property. The £360 doesn't even include tenant check up fees and any other hidden fees that the tenant data company will try to slap you with.
Not only that our general experience showed them to be slow to return calls for which the majority of the time I'd have to ring them back myself. I am self employed and I don't think I'd ever get single client if I treated my customers the way Jan Forsters treats theirs, but it's not a problem when you sit on prime land where property sells itself.

Very poor customer service, made my whole 2 year living experience with this branch nothing but a nightmare and stressful. Rude staff, glad it's finally over even though I have moved out of my property with them for a month now. Very disappointed.

very poor customer service. really rude attitude from one of the agent in the high heaton office. really sad and disappointed. But when I rang another number the agent was polite and helped me to sort out the problem.
