Unfortunately, they couldn't find a buyer for my stunning flat themselves and had to enlist an outside estate agent, and had me stump up extra money to help compensate them. So they got it done after the end of the contact term, but it cost me £thousands more. This was after they earlier had asked me to agree to halt showings as demanded by an earlier (lower) offer that I reluctantly accepted. That buyer ended up walking weeks later, wasting precious time that could have been spent finding a real buyer. Estate agents are not your friend. No matter how charming they appear before their engagement contract is signed, once you sign it, they revert to their true mercenary selves, pressuring you to accept offers well below the very valuation they provided, because their only loyalty is to earning their fee. Don't get fooled. Wish I never used this JDW office.... Read more

To sell a flat during the pandemic, an unprecedented recession and while I was unable to leave Sydney because of an international travel ban, is completely nerve-wracking. I totally recommend the team at John D Wood in Kensington. Over the past few months, I had to work out what to do with my father's flat as he has now moved to a care home. The situation wasn't straightforward as so many angles had to be considered, including sale, rental and extension of leases. This means I had dealings with various departments at JDW, and to a man, they were fantastic. They were highly experienced and knowledgeable, realistic, level-headed, courteous and just great to deal with. AVOID!! This agent encourages gazumping. Dealt with Thomas Wilton - who informed me that offer was accepted and I need to provide proof of funds and mortgage within 24 hours. Booked and paid for mortgage valuation only to find out they are still doing viewings and taken a higher offer! When I escalated to Ben - Head of Flats - he said this was company policy.
