Scammers! Be very aware of giving these a holding deposit. I had reassurance from sophia that it was redundable to find out it isnt if your not successful in your application. £200 gone for nothing.

Posting here because there isnt a google location for John Shepherd in Derby
The services offered by them generally may be good but beware of one of their lettings agent- Faith Hughes. From the very beginning when I was making an enquiry regarding renting a property in Derby she was quite numb to responses and seem to not be very interested. She never seemed interested in helping us get a property and I completely ignored her attitude. A viewing was booked on 9th December 2024 at 12.15 PM and we were travelling 160 miles on a busy Monday morning. It gets quite difficult and we managed to reach Derby by 11.45 AM but had some issues with parking and it started raining suddenly. We did call the landline number and tell we would be slightly late. Faith kept calling us from a landline number which was difficult to reach out to when we could not find the location. Finally, I managed to find her inside the viewing location and as usual she gave a cold welcome and immediately said she could only show one viewing as we were late. I totally understand and appreciate this but this was something unexpected. She took stairs and expected us to follow her up with the baby in the stroller. I expected her to at least direct us towards a lift but no she was rude at that time. She never made the effort to give any details about the apartment we viewed.
After the viewing I did ask her if any reasonable adjustments could be made so that we could view that day or on 10th December but she gave a stern no! She didn't even send a follow up email or call to ask if we were going ahead with the property.
Overall, I found her very unprofessional, arrogant and disinterested lettings agent. On the contrary, I had wonderful experience with Paula- whom I spoke only over telephone and I wish the viewing happened with her. We even had a viewing with Ashley Adams agency and the lady there was so professional and kind. We never expected to experience this especially with our first time in Derby!
I would be glad if there is a contact for customer relation as I want to escalate this matter further.

Beware they will ask you fee£250 for reference from good lord. Once you pay money if they find and mr or mrs spelling mistake they will confiscate your money. Make sure take ur documents to them and if they agree let then pay them otherwise u will lose ur money.
Make sure get in writing that they will refund you money if reference not gone through.

Totally shocking the way we’re being treated, putting aside the list of faults that are still outstanding from day one, this company has continued to ignore health and safety implications, there excuse has continued to be we need a specialist to fix the fire door and it’s still outstanding 2 months later!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. i have never ever.. seen an agency that LIES so much. They never pick up the phone.
To say that dealing with them is a Nightmare would be a gross understatement.
If you value your time and sanity - avoid at all costs.

We had a great experience with John Shepherd (and especially our lovely agent Lauren) during/leading up to our recent move. From the very first viewing, Lauren has gone above and beyond to answer all of our questions and helped us manage any small issues that came up along the way.

It was a smooth sailing getting house viewings from john shepherd with their quick response to every email.
Lauren who helped me with the viewing has a very proactive attitude and she doesn’t waste any time, I really appreciate the quick work and professionalism. I am glad to have gotten the help and consideration from them into getting me a beautiful apartment.
Their properties are classy and very well kept.
Would recommend.

I had a very disappointing experience with ''Satnam Kaur'' as my letting agent. Unfortunately, she consistently failed to meet expectations throughout the process.
Firstly, Satnam was often unreachable. Many of my calls went unanswered, and there was little to no follow-up on important matters. On the rare occasions she did pick up the phone, she would assure me that the task would be completed within 15 minutes, but this promise was never fulfilled. This lack of communication and follow-through caused significant delays and frustration.
If you happen to have Satnam Kaur handling your letting agreement, be prepared for a challenging experience. Good luck!

My process of moving in was quick and easy throughout. Lauren was always on hand to help if I ever had any queries and she also conducted my viewing which was very informative.
From first seeing the property on Rightmove to moving in it only took 2 weeks. Everything went swimmingly and I cannot recommend the estate agents and Lauren enough, I am very pleased with the property.????????

Loved loved the experience that I had renting with Paula at John Shepherd at Derby. She showed the flat to me and I had the keys in 4 days time!!! Even though this was a quick turnover, everything was done professionally and to the highest standard. I would highly recommend checking them out if you are planning on renting in Nightingale Quarters or in Derby, they’re brilliant!!

One of the worst agents I've dealt with as a landlord, awful communication and failed to rent a property of mine for 2+ months. Gave it to another agent and they let it within 1.5 weeks. They didn't seem to care and never answered the phone. Landlords, I would avoid this one

Had an awesome and hassle-free experience with John Shepard. Paula offered a great and flexible viewing experience, and Rianne was great. Extremely speedy responses and the Goodlord platform is very slick. The entire process felt very smooth, made sense, and took very little effort to get to the point of moving in. My questions were answered and any actions were done so fast.
Lots of offers on electricity and broadband provided on the platform. Always worth looking around but if you just want no effort you can click yes and they’re all reasonable offers.
Honestly might be the best letting agent experience I’ve had so far.
