I had a viewing arranged for today and after 10 minutes waiting at the property I decided to call the agency, I was told to give them a moment to call me back, after couple of minutes one of the agents told me the property was not available anymore and they just forgot to cancel the viewing or to mention it in advance. Really bad property management, the property was full of mold and dampness for 11 years, the bathroom was disgusting , and black mold around the toilet and walls in the bathroom, the landlord refused to carry out proper works, and just cheaply repainted over the mold , each time it came back, the radiator in the living room was leaking, this was old and the landlord was too tight to replace it. Our fridge and freezer were only three years old and yet ruined by rising damp in the kitchen floor. The property was rented at £1300 a month, and there had been a yearly increase in rent charges from the landlord , yet he took our money and did nothing for us, the flooring in the kitching was just laid and cut round the fridge, cooker, and units and washing machine, leaving a big uncovered gap underneath at the back , not even glued down so it was rucked up and looked awful.we had heating pipes drilled through the ceilings and our clothes always smelt of mold, no out of hours response for emergencies, so if your water or heating or electricity went on friday evening, you were buggered. When I raised this with mercer taylor, I was told to " pay for a private contractor and claim the money back " Likewise, when i complained to Roger morris the landlord through mercer taylor, I was told by them " if you are not happy with the property, then serve notice of leaving ", WOW . Throughout my tenency for 11 years, Ive found these people to be very rude, and was treated like i was just a number , very devalued as a renting tenent/s . Never recieved any statements of rent payments as to how much rent we had paid each month to date over the 11 years . poor, and sloppy management. So glad Ive ceased dealings with them . As a property management ,Mercer Taylor had a bound duty of care for the tenent in regards to the living conditions of a rented property they managed. As you can see from the photos, no decorating was every done in the space of 11 years, apart from the kitchen and so called bathroom , the rest was untouched .... Read more

Avoid this agency, the worst estate agents ever. They don’t listen to your concerns and problems of the property your renting. I couldn’t shower or wash dishes cause the plumbing was fitted by cowboys, I received food poisoning on several occasions because the fuse box kept tripping as the plumbing was fitted right next to electrics so water was leaking, nothing was done to fix this by the estate agents or landlords. I was blamed for mould!, and spoken down to by members of staff. I’m surprised they passed the health and safety of the property. They are not professional and will try to charge you end of tenancy cleaning even though it is against the law since June 2019. Claiming that the property was left unclean! When all there was was abit of dust! Probably from the fact that the property had not been entered for an entire week. The Incompetence is shown when it took them a week to realise the keys had been dropped back already. If you had common sense you would listen to the previous comments and run miles away. This being my first rental property has scarred me for life and I will never rent with a lettings agents that are money grabbers like this one.... Read more

WORST ESTATE AGENTS !!!!!Pease do not waste your time with these people. As a former tenant I can tell you they are very unprofessional and unreliable. They kicked me out because didn't want to do their end of the contract that we both signed. Also they rented me a property which was a commercial property and not a home property so they didn't have to pay council tax that so I was living illegally in that property for a year without me being aware because according with the contract we both signed council tax was included on the rent. The manager Matthew Reeves is very RUDE and obnoxious. Handled the all situation in a very unprofessional manner.... Read more

I really wouldn't recommend using their services if you expect to be treated with decency and respect, especially when you are spending your hard earned cash. I'm not sure if the other reviewers were paid by Mercer but nothing could be further form the truth of our experience. From Rebecca's dismissive, rude, obnoxious and sarcastic approach. That's if they even acknowledge your emails, if she's not dodging your calls. If I want them to pay attention, I have to go into their offices. And did I say that I'm asking too much by asking them to respond to emails? It has been 16days. Whatever they promise you, they will renege. We have been xhsisnf them to go work for 3 months now, that was agreed as a condition of our tenancy. The same work they are now dragging their heels and saying they need permission from the landlord! This is something Jake said was already agreed by the landlord. To the point where it has encouraged vermin. It's disgusting to think we pay our hard earned money for this privilege! If I could go back I would have run a mile from this property and this agency. Be especially afraid when they tell you they are trustworthy not like other estate agents.... Read more

We are real tenants of Mercer Taylor. This company has treated us with disgusting contempt. When we signed for this property in September 2018 the agent, Jake, came across as genial agent. Giving us assurances that outstanding work, which on initial view could not prevent us from moving in, would be done in the week we moved in. The garden, back and front was overgrown. There were holes in the walls, the painting needed doing, and with the assurance we thought they would be resolved. We were obviously naive. We are the type of tenants any property agent would want. My wife and I are professionals. We gave them 6 months rent in advance, plus 6 weeks deposit! Jake did not follow through on his promise. Although the painting was somewhat undertaken (not well done piping to the gas is exposed the corner is not painted, same in the bathroom, you can see the rust coming through the vinyl floor). After months, wood chippings have been put in the back garden, but that has not made it any usable. The work men left 2 Selco bags of the grass visible in the garden. The front garden, quite spacious is still overgrown! The entrance to the backdoor has holes and unsecured bricks. These issues have now escalated in rat infestation. Because of the overgrown garden and wholes in the wall, rats - sewage type have over ran the house. My wife, who is 7 months pregnant and my 4 year old son are barely want to be in the house let alone venture into the kitchen. There are drafts coming into the property, which means we are spending more on energy. Also there water coming from underneath the building climbing up the wall. That is now creating damp. We feel really disgusted by how we have been treated by Mercer Taylor. Rebecca in fact, I have found to be the least professional customer agent. When i first contact her by these issues, I found her to be rude, obnoxious and banged the phone on me twice! I find this to be an intimidation tactics to deter and frustrate other less assertive tenants perhaps. We still continue to push them to make our property livable. Even though we pay them beyond market rate for a sub-living standard property. If hindsight is was available to us, we would not have dealt with Mercer Taylor at all.... Read more
