I had a terrible experience with them, Highly unprofessional staff and totally time waster. Mr Fawad wasted our weeks and forced us to put an offer on a property, When we placed an offer he said offer as been accepted and confirmed with us on email and after few days he emailed us that someone else buying bcz he received and higher offer that property he showed other people behind us. I won't recommend them at all.

We used Northwood, in Preston for about 12 years, managing our rental property. The service that we chose was the one that guaranteed an income all year round. This worked perfectly for us, because we were living abroad at the time.
The service was very efficient and personal. We had no problems at all. They always either emailed us or telephoned whenever our authorisation was needed for maintainence issues.
We would recommend this company 100%.

I don't recommend renting from this agency at all.
We rented a house and then our daughter had Leukaemia, in 2018, we asked them to change the carpet as the bacteria could cause a fatal infection. They refused. The carpet in the house was fitted since 1989. Our daughter's oncology hospital sent them a letter telling them how risky the bacteria are for her hickmen line and her low immunity. They tried to chase the hospital and then refused to change the carpet. Their answer was described by many readers as so very heartless. The hospital advised us to ignore them and clean the carpet as much as possible and we cover it with rugs because we had no time to complain to the right people. We had a very stressful time and we were busy with the hospital trips and stays.
Then after, they advertised for a bungalow for rent we requested to move out and rent the bungalow. They refused to rent us out the bungalow and the reason was because only my husband was working and their new policy requests that me and my husband should be both working. But staying where we were, their policy works OK for one person to be working. Again her answer was described by many as discrimination against.
Sue is, as described by other reviewers, patronised and she thinks she knows something. I only witnessed her doing good when she put her gloves and cleaned the hood the day we moved. But she better could have done this before renting out us this house.
AVOID AVOID AVOID this agency.

Avoid this agency at all costs. Sue is one of the rudest, most incompetent lettings agents I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Any complaints addressed to "management" are directed to her husband. They do nothing for their management fees. Absolute shysters - avoid!

Enquired online about a property and rang the next day after not hearing anything back, spoke to Ollie who seemed friendly and professional and helped arrange a viewing for the following day, told to keep an eye out for an email confirming the viewing. An hour later and I unfortunately missed a call from Northwood, but was left a voicemail, this was from Ollie and again he was professional but wanted to let me know that unfortunately the viewing could not be arranged as the landlord was not interested in my enquiry and to ring back if I wanted more information. This is were the low rating comes from, I rang back and Ollie did not answer, an unknown female answered as all I got was 'Hello Northwood' I explained I was ringing regarding my enquiry and had just missed a call from Ollie, she seemed to want to get me off the phone as soon as possible as the only feedback she gave was 'yeah, the landlord doesn't think the property is best suited for you' I already knew this as it was mentioned in the voicemail, before I could respond, all I got was 'thank you, bye', realizing she clearly wasn't interested in giving any proper feedback as to why me and my partner were not suitable for the property, I ended the call and wouldn't use Northwood in the future purely down to this unknown woman. What started out as a pleasant experience ruined by the rudeness of 1 individual.

Our relationship with Northwood began 13 years ago when we chose them to represent our interest in our home when we moved overseas. They ensured our house was occupied with responsible tenants and that it was looked after and maintained throughout.
We recently sold the house to our long-standing tenants with ease. Northwood kept us in the loop made the process simple and along with our solicitors made the whole experience stress-free. If we were to move back to the UK, Northwood would be our first choice.

I have rented from Northwood Preston for just over two years. I have previously been an estate agent and have significant experience handling lettings so my assessment of Northwood is both personal and professional. They're horrible. They have been my letting agent and landlord, an arrangement that deceives property owners and screws tenants and should be illegal in this country. After more than a year living with a malfunctioning boiler, cold showers and faulty electrics, its clear Northwood is inept and I can confidently say the government should ban these guaranteed rent schemes where the letting agent, acting as the landlord, has no real interest in the property other than collecting rent. While they've sent vendors to make repairs, in some cases they made matters worse. Northwood has never followed up with me to find out if requested repairs were completed satisfactorily. They just don't care about their tenants. Northwood has also been attempting to sell this home for a year and a half and have failed miserably. They significantly overvalued the property and have had less than 10 viewings in a year and a half in a desirable area (the property also sat empty on the rental market for six months before I rented it). In my experience, the Wards, who own this franchise, are demonstrably incompetent, uncaring and unqualified and I have discontinued rent payments and viewings in protest.
Response to Northwood's reply: I can pay the rent so your assumption is completely wrong. As you know, difficulties with a bank transfer were the cause of a prior delay in payment of rent and you were kept well-informed of those circumstances but have decided to be vindictive and cast my delayed payment and my more recent refusal to pay rent in protest in a more nefarious light. Shame on you. I don’t appreciate your slanderous insinuation that I’m a liar. Not surprising coming from you though as you attempted to evict me just prior to the government imposed lockdown in retaliation for negative reviews I posted about the poor quality of your services. You only rescinded the eviction notice when I contacted the owners directly and told them what you were doing. And you expect me to be grateful to you for the reprehensible manner in which you tried to silence criticism? I have been forced to remain in the home due to the pandemic and informed you that I would be leaving at my earliest opportunity making the repair of the boiler and other outstanding issues moot at that point. You've had well over a year to repair the boiler, the electrics, the falling flashing, etc. but have chosen instead to either ignore these issues or try to find the easy way out. As a result, I requested a reduction in my rent payments for the few months I expected to remain in the property as compensation and you not only tried to ignore that request as well but flatly refused to even take it up with the property owner. Communication with you has proven to be useless and a waste of my time so I've stopped. I'm the one who has had to chase you to complete repairs, not the other way round. I approved and cooperated with all viewing requests, sparse though they were, up until the time the pandemic hit. By the way, post-it notes don't cause holes in walls and mine certainly didn't. If you want to continue in this business then I suggest you either focus on doing a better job or get thicker skin. As we've all seen with recent events, if you're in a position of power in a relationship, as Northwood is in this one, and you do nothing, ignore the problems or you make matters worse, then you should expect the unheard to react negatively. I've certainly endured enough cold showers over the past year+ that it should be understandable that my blood is boiling. And, you know, Northwood has never once apologized and that alone should speak volumes about the kind of people they are. Btw, Didn't take the light bulbs love. Lights don't work because of your faulty electrics. Hope you've figured that out by now, but I'm not confident given my experience. Rent was current.

All the staff at Northwood and professional and personable to clients. However I would particularly like to highlight Sophie for all the help and assistance she has given me. As a landlord it is important for me to have an agent that reduces any stress or aggravation that might occur with a letting and Sophie has proved exemplary at this. During a recent insurance claim (no blame to either tenant or landlord) she was a total star organizing the claim on a third party company, secured a win, got a superior replacement carpet and organized it being fitted - superb! Would recommend Northwood Presto to any potential landlord or tenant - just keep up the good work please!

After a very messy sale due to solicitors I can honestly say that Laura Heald was fantastic at managing the sale for me. Laura went above and beyond to get me daily updates and manage my expectations.

Was very keen to view a property and had an appointment booked in on fulshaw road when my wife was called up by one of the rudest people she has ever come across to confirm the viewing.
Took a week for the viewing and she patronised my wife on the phone that much she righfully cancelled the viewing on a property we were really interested in.
Felt like an inconvenience when she said dont waste our time if you dont want to pay asking price were too busy (not even viewed the property so how could you assess how much you wanted to pay without seeing)!!!

I was a tenant for 6 years through Northwood until recently. Throughout my entire tenancy the Preston Northwood office has been fantastic to deal with. Any time I have needed to get in touch they have responded quickly and always been really helpful. Occasionally repairs have been required, as with any property, but they always ensured maintenance was carried out quickly and to a high standard. I recently moved on from renting but Becky, Sue and the team were really brilliant throughout the checking out process and made sure my deposit was returned at the end. Renting through Northwood was fantastic - thank you!

As a landlord, I have been with Northwood Preston for well over ten years since they set up in Preston in 2007. Throughout this time we have shared a harmonious and mutually supportive relationship. My first contact with Northwood was early in 2007 when I purchased two properties through the estate agency side of their business. Both transactions progressed smoothly to successful completion. They subsequently managed these properties as letting agents. After a period of around two years I was so impressed with their efficiency and willingness to discuss any problems that I transferred most of my other letting properties to Northwood Preston from other agents, and I have been very happy to stay with them. My property portfolio includes a variety of houses and apartments, some of which are let on the Fully Managed contract and some on the Guaranteed Rent contract. I have found both schemes work very well, and I have been particularly impressed that they have honoured the Guaranteed Rent on the few occasions when I have had empty property between tenants. In my experience, a good relationship between landlord and letting agents depends on BOTH parties behaving well and responsibly. Over the years, I have talked to a number of landlords who refuse or delay spending money on the upkeep of their properties and then blame either their tenants or the letting agent when the property deteriorates. I firmly believe that if a landlord keeps the property in good repair and treats the tenants well, most tenants will respond by looking after the property well. We landlords easily forget that the agent has a duty of care to both tenants and landlords, and prompt repairs and renovations obviate the need for constant reminders, thus removing a major source of friction between agent and landlord. I have let two properties with Northwood for some time now and I have never found them to be anything but fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Their experience and knowledge of the market along with the personal touch, probably due to this being a family business, mean that I would never consider using another agent to let my properties. I have complete confidence in them. Thanks Rebecca, Sue and and the team for all the hard work and peace of mind this has given me!

Had to get housing standards involved after the damp and mould started damaging the property. These people care very little for tenants and treat people with a great lack of respect or common decency. If anyone else is being down trodden by Northwood I urge you to contact housing standards.

Successful Property Ombudsman ruling against Northwood Preston. They acted in a terrible way towards me as a landlord who had been with them years and refused to pay not only rent due on their guaranteed scheme but also left my property full of rubbish. They then tried to fight to case when I bought it before the ombudsman. It is a shame that they were not just able to admit they were wrong and compensate me accordingly.

Kept us up to date when necessary and very informative and honest about things which is what made us sceptical after a previous experience with an agent. Few months in now and couldn't be happier

First of all, we had to get the police involved because the situation got so bad.
I would literally give Northwood Preston 0 stars, but unfortunately that's not an option. This branch is operated by the Ward family and I can honestly say that they are the worst people I've ever had to deal with in my 28 years of being in Preston.
Rebecca and Sue Ward are both condescending, rude, ignorant and vile human beings. They failed to sort out even the most simplest of matters regarding the house and took way more effort than necessary. In the end we fixed the leaky sink and replaced the locks on the doors at our own cost because nothing would have been done about it otherwise.
During the moving out process, Sue and Rebecca became increasingly hostile and erratic, holding back mail and attempting to withdraw a positive reference to out new estate agent a day after they'd given it, lying and saying that we had a dog.
The situation got so bad that we actually had to go to the police and file a report because of the mail opening, the withholding of mail.and the constant nuisance calling from Sue Ward telling us that 'the wardrobe needs replacing' despite them having agreed what was going to be deducted from the deposit 3 weeks prior.
The Northwood Preston branch needs to be avoided at all costs. Even if they were selling/renting my dream house I would never deal with them again under any circumstances. They are persistent liars and incompetent beyond anything I've ever experienced before.
On top of everything, you can't even make a complaint as the Director of the branch is one Peter Ward and any matters brought up fall on deaf ears as he's the owner of this particular franchise.
Surely one branch can only operate like this for so long before collapsing under it's own wrongdoings.

Tried to explain 3times that we had done our research and knew we would needed start dates before applying for a property and all we were looking to do was register and see properties so we knew what we could get and could strike as soon as we did get start dates but this woman went on and on and just ignored me. In the end i gave up wasting my breathe on such a patronising ignoramous. Suffice to say we will not be renting (or buying which is what we will be doing in 6-12months once we have decided on an area) with these people. Cannot believe how rude she was, came home and told family and they had a horrible experience with these as well. Don't waste your time!

Completely awful. Have to chase them for months to get a single thing done. They always just say the standard "Okay, we'll get it sorted" and then you have to chase them a month later, only to find out they've not done it - rinse and repeat.
Would not recommend to anybody.
