Excellent experience as a tenant renting a property with Romans with Anne-Marie’s help.
I have rented at 3 different places in the last 3 years and this was by far the easiest and best experience thanks to Anne-Marie.
Anne-Marie was efficient, friendly and helpful in her communications, always was available when I called and if she said she would call me back on a certain day she would. There were a few hiccups during referencing but her assistance made the process far less stressful and worrying.

I was really impressed with Romans estate agents in Wokingham. Alexandra really looked after me. On first meeting her she was very warm, friendly and professional. She showed me round and then advised me of a few things. I put my offer in and once accepted, she really helped me with the referencing side of things (I’m new to renting so this was alien to me). Her communication was fantastic as well as her professionalism. It was also a lovely touch that there was a ‘new home’ card and welcome box. Louise who did the handover of keys was also great! Daisy was also so helpful

If you don't want to be upset stay away from this company. They share your personal information with other companies without your permission. We agreed for the house I rented in Wokingham to be cleaned and the carpets washed but the carpets have not been washed and there is a strong curry smell in the house. They do not get back to me despite my phone calls and emails.

This review is regarding Property Management services provided by Hayley McPhail- Property Manager at Romans . She has been very proactive in making sure that the maintenance queries are answered in a timely manner and attended to by a professional contractor. Also the 6 month inspection was carried out in a very professional manner with detailed photos ,condition of property was reported in great detail on their online portal that is quite user friendly. So far the experience has been very good with Romans and look forward to continuing this relationship further on. However they are a little expensive but the service is good.

Anne-Marie (lettings consultant) was incredibly helpful and responsive in helping us arrange viewings and make an offer with the best chance of success! Special mention to Alexandra, the viewing agent who was flexible to accommodate viewing times. The only reason for giving 4/5 stars is following their hard work, the lettings move manager was pretty unresponsive on both emails/phone to ensure the paperwork was all done well on the first try… other than that, would recommend!

Awful place. They will give you a property in a horrible state. Freezer doors unable to shut with how over frozen they are, stinks etc etc. Then when you return it at the end in immaculate condition after a professional clean, they will still claim it needs to be done again. Charge you. And make up fake charges for replacing a whole toilet because of a water mark down the bowl and buy a new smoke alarm that was broken before we moved in. Seriously recommend staying away.

Full disclosure: our sale/purchase chain has still not exchanged, so this is a review of the service provided so far by Romans Wokingham.
We started our engagement of Romans with a different agent (Jack) but eventually we moved to Morgan Thompson as Jack relocated.
I'm confident I can say we wouldn't have been able to establish a chain without the smart and regular insight that Morgan provided us on a weekly basis. No seller wants to "reduce price" right? What I really appreciated was the fact that Morgan was upfront: "if you want to sell now, we need to look at the market, the interest/views on Right Move, and the calls we get - if you are willing to wait, this price can still happen but probably after December".
I'm paraphrasing, but this is in essence the "kick" we needed to make the right move: reduce the price (gradually and reasonably) and keep a constant eye on the data, so that we could "do a Goldilocks" and get to the one that was right.
We did, and now we have been moved to "Catherine" that is handling the constant back and forth of our chain (questions, looking for potential completion dates and so on).
I think the team is doing a very good job, and I hope to come back in not too long to add another positive feedback after completion.

Updated at end of tenancy: Sadly the exit process not at all as efficient. Had to chase emails to confirm notice has been received. No contact regarding exit until less than 24 hours from external party. No arrangements to coordinate check out. Unjust charges for items that were clearly visible on check in. Painful communication.

A few months ago, I started looking for properties. Viewed a few places through various estate agents with no luck and it was very frustrating... renting right now is crazy. Then came Romans Wokingham that made everything from the start smooth and easy, especially John, Sam and Abbi.
I unfortunately missed out on a flat as an offer had been put in, and John very diligently emailed me a couple of new properties that fitted my brief and straight away, he booked me for a viewing.
All three were able to secure a quick letting process, from my offer to all the reference checking, paperwork and follow ups. In approximately a week time I had a new place to move without a single fuss or delay.
I highly recommend them, and I will use them again in the future.

We unfortunately picked the wrong estate agent to start with but fortunately for us Jack from Romans kept in regular contact to see how things were moving along or not in our case, he was at all times friendly and very professional and as soon as our contract was up we contacted Jack who got the ball rolling straight away and in less than a week we had two offers for the property one of which we have excepted.

I’d had some bad experiences with Romans in the past, (as a prospective buyer I was given incorrect information about whether a garage was included, and also as the neighbour of their tenants with a leaking roof issue, which took an age for anyone to get in touch re fixing it), but accepted that over time employees change etc and that this didn’t necessarily reflect how they operate now, some years later.
Earlier this year, I visited the offices with my friend, who is clearly very vulnerable, about her tenancy. She had some questions about her notice period, and she was obviously struggling to speak, but the tone, manner and lack of respect in the way she was spoken to was absolutely shocking. I didn’t say anything at the time because we were trying to ascertain what the next steps were and she needed my help. I was dismayed to note that when I started speaking on her behalf there was a shift in tone and helpfulness. I didn’t address the incredibly rude and degrading way she was spoken to at the time as I did not want to embarrass her and we were trying to begin the process of her moving out. She had asked Romans multiple times about the broken radiators, no one ever fixed them and when she moved out it was apparent that this had had a detrimental impact on her health.
Would not recommend and disappointed that my initial impression of Romans from years gone by remains.

I dont usually write reviews but I feel that if a person is doing a great job, he needs to be praised! After so many encounters with other estate agent! Joshua Mann I have to say have been the only one that stood out! He greeted us with a smile, engaged with us at the right time, allowed us to take our time to really look carefully at the property and most importantly, he always has an answer to every single question and a solution to my objection. We had found looking for a suitable property in Wokingham an endless nightmare, but when we found a prospective opportunity with Romans, Andrei was immediately much more personable than the other Letting agencies we had to deal with. Unfortunately the property wasn't for us, but another was found by Romans that suited us perfectly. We were then introduced to Sam who helped us constantly through the whole process (even when other departments were "unavailable ") . I can't say how much his calm attitude and down to earth persona kept us at ease and follow up calls to check we are OK. My initial concern was working with a large company there would be no interaction and we are just numbers in their system. Sam's help and constant replies to our questions and assistance put our concerns to rest.

AVOID THEM!!! After moving out of the property we were renting they demanded we pay over 300 pounds for thing that needed to be fixed. I didn’t argue, accepted the charges and proceeded to pay though their website. They kept emailing me every day asking for payment. I emailed them and called them to inform about the payment. They promised me a call back, never called. Now I’m getting emails saying my debt has gone to the collection team.
Even my former landlord said they were useless. So, if you’re a landlord or a customer, avoid dealing with them. They’re useless if anything goes wrong.

Romans, Wokingham-AVOID!
This company is absolutely appalling in the way they treat people. They seem to believe that a forceful and bullying type approach is the best and most professional way to deal with their clients. We desperately needed somewhere to live in April 2021. I was 37 weeks pregnant and I was in and out of hospital with hypertension. We found somewhere with Romans but despite it being empty (previous tenants had moved out) we were unable to move in. This was apparently due to works that they needed to do to the property. The day after we moved in, that’s when they decided to start the work that should of been done. I was 8 days away from giving birth and incredibly unwell but Romans didn’t care. Our apparent property manager Jagdeep blamed the lettings manager Ellie for not getting the work done. The works continued when I returned home with a newborn and recovering from a Caesarean. Romans didn’t care at all. We were very good tenants, paid on time and kept the house in a lovely order. For two thirds of the 1 year tenancy we had weekly 4 hour cleaners. We had gardeners 2 hours fortnightly, treated and jet washed the driveway. This was because even though it was rented, it was still our home. When it came to giving notice on the property I wouldn’t let Romans in to show people round as early as they wanted to. They didn’t “want the landlord to be without money”. I wouldn’t let them because of how they behaved in the beginning of our tenancy. Fast forward to checkout and the inventory clerk commented on the fact it was clean and even made reference to the fact the garage had been hoovered. We used professional oven cleaners, cleaners, window cleaners and gardeners. When the report came in it states that everything needed cleaning leaving us with a £432.00 bill. I suspected this to be because we would not allow them into the property as early as they wanted. This really annoyed the lettings manager. Do not believe that the inventory clerks are non biased third parties. It seems the inventory clerk used was in fact an ex employee of Romans. That is most definitely not unbiased.
I was also advised by a Romans employee that the property needed to cleaned again anyway due to more works being carried out. In addition to this we saw on the report that we had left 1 drawer in the kitchen unemptied. This was reported to the property manager the next day. She tried to suggest that we could make arrangements after the cleaning costs were recovered. Eventually we made an appointment for me to collect the belongings. 30 minutes before the appointment I was called to say the contents had been removed and could not be located. Romans instructed their cleaners to dispose of everything stating it was our problem and we shouldn’t have left it. This drawer had some paperwork in including my babies birth certificates, prescription medication and various odd items. This is because I didn’t let them into the property. Their behaviour is absolutely disgusting and the worst bit is they are proud of themselves.
The landlords friends live next door and thanked us for being fantastic tenants!

Truly an awful, heartless company. Had brown liquid coming up into our bath whick they failed to fix after >5 months, forcing us to move out. Ignored over half of our emails. When we did move they flagged up over 50 imperceptibly small scratches and marks in an attempt to scam us out of our deposit despite the fact we had video evidence of the marks in the flat when we moved in.
I have to imagine a large portion of the other reviews are fake

I have been using Romans for many years to let a property. They have helped again recently, where I have been dealing with Sarah, who has been really responsive and supportive in getting the property ready for letting. A few things needed sorting which was done really efficiently and connected me directly with trades people to be most efficient. Property was let really quickly once marketed with a number of asking price offers.

Terrible service. Our boiler broke leading to an astronomical electric bill. It took over a month for them to send out a plumber to repair the fault in the middle of winter.
Romans take zero accountability and the level of customer service is shocking. It takes weeks for anyone to get back to you.
Stay well away from these guys. Shocked at how poor the service is since they are such a big company.
Will not be using Romans again and will recommend to my friends all do the same.

Sarah Hood who has been dealing with bringing my tenancy to an end early, forgot to remove me from an email chain quite literally MOCKING me to her colleague, when all I asked was why I had to get the property professionally cleaned upon exit, considering when I moved in during the height of the pandemic; the property was so dirty I couldn't stay for the first day of my tenancy. By dirty I mean - food in the dishwasher, toothpaste SPIT in the sink, in a property MANAGED by this agent?!
Appalling service - avoid as a Landlord and a tenant.

Whilst buying a property through Romans, I was fortunate enough to deal with Louis and Matthew in the Wokingham branch. Despite a very stressful move, with tight deadlines, Louis and Matthew were able to keep me updated with the situation and offer advice as to how the conveyancing process worked and any action that I needed to take in order that the move happened within the timescales. Absolute shambolic Customer Service, you cannot receive a straight answer about the status of a property you are interested in. You schedule an appointment to view a house online, no one is bothered to call you at the agreed time. After you follow up, you are then told the house is sold but the offer has not yet been accepted. You are given the same update a few days later and not even allowed to engage in a proper conversation about the sale.
Additionally, you can hear the condescending attitude over the phone, they presume who they are speaking to by guessing your phone number without proper confirmation of your name, they will say we will call you back but they never do.

Then we met Georgina Seymour. At the end of our tenancy, she was a delight. Prompt and professional. Clearly health and safety is the least of their concerns.
I have been pressured by the letting agent to move by the end of July 2020, when clearly the flat was in a poor hygienic condition for any decent humain being who cares for his health and safety to be moving in. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I would have thought that maintaining high standards of cleanliness would have been the rule.
They didn’t even bother to make sure that the flat was in good condition before handling me the keys. I’ve be very lucky that the man for the inventory check in was honest and trustworthy. He showed me some of the outstanding damages such as the washing mashing with mould and with stagnant water in the drum, broken shelf in the fridge, leaking marks under the sink, horrendous dirt in the bath and spot lights in the bathroom areas out of order. He told me that there is no way on earth that this flat was professionally cleaned.
Twice I have be told by Sophie that the house will be professionally cleaned and the blinds on the floor fixed before my moving date. Well, it turns out that nothing has been cleaned nor repaired before they gave me the keys.
I viewed the flat on June 29th and I’ve done a second viewing on July the 24th. Nothing was repaired nor cleaned between the time elapsed.
On July 23th, I had to walk in the letting agency to ask about the tenancy agreement which I received on July 28th so two days before my moving date, the 31st. The funny part of this story is that Anna sent me the invoice of 1632£ two weeks before my moving date while she was failing to respond to my previous emails. I got the keys yesterday July 31st. While they were eager to have my money, I will not be moving in unless all the repairs are done and that the flat is thoroughly cleaned. I want a second inventory check in and a proof that the house have been professionally cleaned. No one will accept to sleep in a filthy house covid 19 or not.
Awful customer service and customer safety is not their priority. No apologies whatsoever from Romans so far!

Having now completed the sale of our flat, using Romans in Wokingham we feel in a position to give an honest review from start to finish.
We were lucky enough to have Daniel Salisbury as our lead estate agent and his professionalism, as well as honest and open dialogue is second to none. He made sure to have regular reviews with us during the sales process, to look at the current marketing conditions and adjust our sales strategy when required. All estate agents representing the branch were efficient and hard workers, constantly contacting other branches, looking for potential viewers to see our flat.
Natalie who oversaw the process once our flat had sold was diligent and incredibly on the ball, making sure everything went through as quickly as possible, during some very challenging times. I recognise it may be cheaper to sell your property with other agents (although I found their package competitive with the market), but I truly believe you get what you pay for with Romans. I do not believe our flat would have sold without the tireless work of everyone who represents Romans.

Poor communication!!!!!!!! got to the day before our move in and we recieve an email at 6.20pm asking us to complete documents that we were never asked for and told that if we didnt get them in by 9am the next morning then we would be delayed moving in, i got these over by 9pm the night before. we then got to the morning, i could not get through to anyone until at least 10.30am and still then nobody was none the wiser. we were then left on the day we were supposed to move with no where to go. Now we are a couple and 2 dogs living on someones sofa in a 1 bed flat with all there stuff packed into there cars and they couldnt care less if they tried. i would never recomment romans to any one, i will be advising people against using you and have had a lot of people now advise me of the same. Also lost our £200 securing deposit!!!! Worst experience ever!!

thing we ask to be done before we moved in were not done,no TV aerial ,leaking Gutters, cupboards locked with child locks, and on moving fallen fencing, leaking taps, Broken door bell , and the whole experience and lack off information sharing, last minute to dos and change off agents. i found very unprofessional i would not recommend or wish anybody to use Romans as the whole "what ever" feel off the staff i found worrying. we are in a 2 year contract and we have you as are property manger and are not looking forward to trying to get thing done

I have a rent collection contract with Romans and have been disappointed on more occasions than I'd like with regards to their service.
They are slow to spot late payments and do not adhere to the terms of the contract that has been agreed. Mostly unhelpful and their customer service skills leave a lot to be desired.
I seem to have to inform THEM when payments have been missed and recent admin errors made by the accounts department have been met with some apathy from the lettings team. Not helpful and not keen to rectify problems. Very poor service.

My experience with Romans has been extremely poor. I will try and list some of my main grievances:
1) I rushed through references and tried to speed everything up even paying a full months rent and deposit upfront so I could sign my contract before a long holiday only for romans to only give me a contract to sign 2 weeks before I moved in (I had to give two months notice to my old landlord to move out so I could have ended up in a tricky situation with nowhere to live)
2) At least 6/7 of my emails were never responded to
3) The fully managed house was unoccupied for approximately a month before I moved in yet I currently am having to sleep on the sofa in the living room as both the downstairs rooms have no working heating and the upstairs has a four year out of date smoke detector beeping every 1 minute preventing me from sleeping.
4) I am paying for a garage I can’t use as I can’t lock the rear door so items stored in it will not be secure invalidating any contents insurance
5) I have reported in detail many issues big and small with the property through the online reporting website. The website gives guidelines for time to fix emergency, urgent and non urgent issues yet not a single of my issues has been looked at yet.
I think these issues are unacceptable. I do wonder what I am paying for when I can’t even use most of the house.
I will not be recommending Romans to anyone I know. I feel I would actively seek to suggest they avoid you and go elsewhere.

Romans have sold my home and I just have to tell you my experience. Part way through the procedure I had to spend 6 weeks in hospital and am still housebound. Even before the fall the agents took me to view several properties and if I was not available took clients to view my property. Since my fall Daniel couldn't have done more for me. He's helped with paperwork and is still helping with my household effects etc. He really has gone 'the extra mile' and I am so very grateful to him. We were in the unfortunate position of having to sell our parents house after they passed away and Romans knew straight away the best way to get a sale from virtual tours to an open house. I signed up with Romans initially because I was told they were in partnership with a shared ownership company so this would increase the marketing at no detriment to my sale. However when it still hadn't appeared on their advertising sites, I chased it up, to be informed that they were not now going to be in partnership with this company. The property did sell quickly though but for £10,000 less. I was told the feedback on the asking price from a fair portion of viewers was that it was priced too high, it was not me who suggested it be put on for that. All that said, Adam Colvin and Natalie Boyd were brilliant at advising through the process, chasing what needed to be done, communicating regular updates and making sure the sale went through smoothly, so thank you to them.

We have just sold our property with Romans Estate Agents in Wokingham.
After inviting a number of local Agents in the area around to get advice on the market at this time, and to get an idea of the price we may be able to get for our property
The other two were very negative regarding the market at that time and didn’t have anything really positive to say.
Then Daniel Salisbury from Romans came around, He was polite, helpful, and knowledgeable about houses that had been sold recently in the area.
He had a very positive attitude regarding what he thought he and his team from Romans could do to sell our house.
Regarding there % he was flexible, but I think fair.
If we had taken the one fee approach, we would have lost a lot of money.
(I had dealings with one fee agents when looking to buy our new property. They have no interest because they already have your money.
I had to chase them, they never returned any of my calls it was so annoying)
Romans Had more than made up for the fees that they charge by finding clients that were genuinely looking to buy houses

We had one open day they managed to get 16 people through the door and from that, we received a number of offers for the asking price.

We were on the lookout for an estate agency and carried out a number of meetings with various agencies. We invited Romans purely because the estate we were interested in had a working relationship with Romans. This, we were led to believe would make things much easier. Ian visited us and was by far the best person we had met and had brought a good selection of detail with him and clearly vast knowledge. We also got a rate that was comparable to other estate agencies, although initially it was a lot higher. Our process meant that at one point of the sale and purchase we were having difficulty that meant Ian in particular had to step in and managed to rescue a situation was was 90% lost. Ian showed drive and experience dealing with the situation and now we are close to moving in to our new home. The only draw back, as with every time i have moved and with any estate agencies involvement, the communication between buyers, sellers, solicitors, estate agents never really works as you would hope. Overall, Ian gets 5 stars from us!

The fees Romans charge are ridiculous especially considering they have appalling service and customer care. They never return calls and are extremely rude when they do, I have been dealing with Justin who is meant to be the lettings manager and her attitude and serive is an absolute nightmare. It almost seems as if they do not want any business! I have had to chase her up so many times and she hasn't replied to any of my calls. When I complained about her all she did was lie and fabricate the truth. An appalling agent and to think that once upon a time Romans were the best. Now they are the worst agent and fees are so high.
Just made contact with Prospect who are a total breath of fresh air. Very professional and genuinly care. Instant feedback, call back and amazing at reponding even on email. Fees are so much lower then Romans.

All ok until I checked my bank account to see if rental money had gone in - it hadn't but I was not informed why. I emailed Abigail Jones but did not receive a reply. I then emailed her again on 4th February and also sent the same email to property management. I received a reply from them saying there had been something on the account and therefore it had. It been processed - I replied to this asking when the money will be in my account but have still not received a reply. I also have not received a copy or any info on the inventory. I would appreciate an urgent reply to both these topics

Lack of information on the agreement Romans made with the new tenants, very poor check-out of the previous tenant, items missed on check-out report) and very slow in transferring income (two and a half weeks to transfer funds). And I have discovered the property inspections on the previous tenant have not been at all thorough. Too late to change agents now, but will certainly be considering it next time.

I have had a most unhelpful time over the past almost 2 years as a tenant with Romans..
They have even accused me of saying incorrect and bad things about my landlady it really is defamation of character...I am still waiting for my rent rebate and only received my deposit after 5 weeks....meanwhile rent is being collected by the new tenant.
I was even charged £5 for a replacement light bulb when we had been at the house the night before and all were working.
I had to pay for timescale removal which was not there and it was agreed that we provided a professional clean
The staff have moved on quickly and I do not believe they have the tenants best interest at heart.
I will not recommend Romans.

Extremely poor service with regards to tenant welfare. I moved into a 2 bed property, it had not be cleaned, marks on the walls still existed after agreeing to be removed in the contract, plumbing issues, the ‘designated/allocated’ parking spot which isn’t, and now currently left with a faulty dishwasher (due to wear and tear) for over 2 months and refusing to fix it or subside rent. Extremely unprofessional and I would be very careful if you ever decided to rent with them - they don’t respect tenants rights and overcharge. Avoid!!

A big surprise to see so many wonderful reviews, when I feel as a prospective buyer the service I've received has been below par. I was particularly keen on a property which had only just come on the market, I voiced my interest for a viewing asap (we all know how fast properties sell around this area!), they ensured me they'd get back to me, never did. I called again to find out if any progress had been made on scheduling a viewing, again told me no news but would let me know when they had some viewings free. A week goes by, nothing, and then to find out it has been sold! I'm sorry but it would have been nice to have been informed, or even had a chance to view/offer. Won't be buying a house nor selling a house with you in the future. I recommend going to David Cliff instead, they are genuine and do a wonderful job of looking after their buyers!

I personally haven’t utilised the services or Romans Estate Agents, but a charming Woman Natalie Boyd was involved with one of the clients in my chain, a relocation from Wokingham to where I currently reside in Norfolk. Natalie’s client was buying my home and the move was phenomenally stressful due to immense ineptitude much lower down the chain. Throughout the whole process Natalie was amazingly, (not a word Id often have cause to use) professional, efficient, pleasant and nothing was ever too much trouble for Natalie. Phone calls and emails where all answered promptly. Even though Natalie wasn’t employed by my wife and I she strove diligently throughout the whole process to facilitate our move and that of her client. I would very highly recommended Romans on the strength of Natalie. She is utterly amazing and having moved home many times that’s not something I’ve ever had cause to say about an estate agent, because a lot I’ve utilised have done little to warrant such praise. She strove willingly and diligently across the whole chain to make sure the move was achieved. None of the agents involved in the chain worked as hard or diligently as Nat to facilitate the move. It happened yesterday and in many ways, it was praise to Natalie that it occured. Always acting promptly and professionally to achieve the required end result. After it was finalised she wrote to me (even though she isn’t my agent) to say she was delighted we had all achieved our dream moves. Incredible and so thoughtful. Thank you, Natalie. (and no I’m not related to her???? that’s how good she is!)

This has been our third experience with Roman Team in Wokingham and as always was fantastic. All throughout the process of marketing to pre-sale and post sale they have been very professional. Matthew Witney, the Manager for residential Sale in particular was fully aware of our requirements, kept us informed throughout and closed the deal in a very timely manner. If you are a renter in Wokingham than I would advise to stay away from Romans. They are quite useless as property managers. They will gladly take your money but you cannot rely on them for help. If there is a problem they will not help you unless they hear from the landlord first and they will always take the landlord's position on issues regarding maintenance, repairs, etc. Aweful experience. We now moved to another property managed by another local real estate company and what a difference it made!

I dealt with Matthew from the start , then Natalie through to the end of this easy quick process.
Romans have sold houses for me in the past so I had no worries about using them again. Professional from the start they had to cope with a few problems along the way but they came up trumps,, as I knew they would.
House was sold to 1st people to view it, but only after taking on board advice given from Matthew.
Happy , helpful cheerful easy to deal with company, available on Sundays too unlike some estate agents, I will always use Romans.

We've just worked with Adam Colvin to find our dream home and he has been excellent, efficient and organised throughout. From our first telephone call where he convinced us to see a greater variety of houses (and the one we've actually chosen!) to the last days of negotiations communication has been regular and efficient. We've seen about 10 homes with him and he's been fully prepared for all of our intrusive questions! He's been really flexible with our timings and helped us fit house viewing around our difficult schedule. And it's genuinely felt like he's wanted us to find the house that's right for us. After a hit and miss service from romans letting in other places we were a little cautious but I couldn't have pictured a better estate agent than Adam- I can't recommend him highly enough!

The sales team worked very hard and extremely efficiently in order to help us achieve the price we wanted for our home.
Full marks to Adam who did very well in helping us get more than one offer on our property.
I quite liked the skill with which Dan Salisbury convinced us to sell through Romans. Also, worth mentioning are his loyalty to the Romans group ( he convinced us to use their conveyancing and financial services) and his communication during the process.

A massive thanks to holly who was amazing at helping myself and my boyfriend find our flat, I came in very last minute just after lunch asking for her to help find us a property before we went home (back to Dorset) that evening at 6pm. We had a nightmare with other estate agents! We sold our house through Romans Wokingham in March 2016, Having used 2 previous estate agents unsuccessfully . From the very beginning they assured us they would be able to secure a sale and they certainly succeed. We were kept informed of every enquiry and their feed back on viewings was amazing. Daniel Salisbury seemed to handle most of the viewing and was extremely professional throughout.We were a little hesitant over the fees as they seemed quite high,however Romans were worth every penny they certainly earned their fee. Once we had sold we were put in the hands of Natalie Boyd in their move department and she followed and chased the other estate agent and solicitors with dogged determination. 20 minutes to check us in, yet 90 minutes to check us out. Why? Because Romans and their extremely unpleasant and overly meticulous inventory clerk wanted to check every nook and cranny of the flat and charge for damages caused by previous tenants. We were accused of breaking freezer drawers, which, of course, we denied. When other damages were pointed out, we were adamant that there was a problem. After making some enquiries, Romans realised that their inventory clerk was actually referring to a previous tenant's report. After a bit of a fight, we got every penny of our deposit back. I was prepared to take legal action against this rogue agent, but thankfully, it wasn't necessary. Romans is great at getting tenants moved into the property and collecting money but not so good when the tenancy comes to an end and money has to be given back. We also reported repairs at our first property inspection, which were not dealt with during our 8-9 months in the property. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

they where fantastic at getting us in to the property but when the time came for the check out they where by far the most Anal and picky agents I have ever dealt with.
the main issue is that they charged for things that where on the check in report as issues and tried to blame us for damage that was already there albeit minor. Additionally they where very slow to return deposit and not great at resolving ANY issues whilst we where living in the flat all in all a bunch of sales people with no interest in after sales assistance or contractural assistance almost as bad as prospect but slightly better

Attempted to rent a house - Viewed, accepted and attempted to pay holding/deposit the same day (and via telephone the following two days) to be met with excuses like 'the agent dealing with this has gone on leave'. When she was eventually back in the office, I was told the property had gone to someone else. A cliched experience and a frustrating (beyond belief) week... Used an excellent, local independent agent on my next viewing and I'm now living happily in Wokingham - I'll be holding (and voicing) my discontent for Romans for many years based on this experience.
