We found our dream house through Ruby at Stirling Ackroyd in Egham and everything was done and sorted in record time, less than two weeks from viewing the property to moving in.
I very highly recommend Ruby who called me up as soon as I enquired about a property and then ran through our requirements so she could show us all the properties that could be a match and booked me in to see several. She was amazing on the day of the viewing and we ended up getting the first house we saw. Ruby was amazing in showing us another property, even driving us to it which was great in order to benchmark and made us realise how much we loved the first one and she even drove us back to Egham after. I have never dealt with a better agent than Ruby and it's been an absolute pleasure dealing with her from start to finish.

Dealing with Stirling Ackroyd was a let down. What's promised on the phone doesn't match what's emailed, causing unnecessary confusion. Their agents lack basic courtesy and professionalism, resorting to arrogance instead. Beware of their underhanded tactics to inflate prices. My advice: steer clear of Stirling Ackroyd to spare yourself the headache.

Warning: Dodgy Tactics!
My experience with Stirling Ackroyd was a disappointment. They promise one thing on the phone but do another via email, leading to confusion. The agents are rude and arrogant, showing no respect. They also use manipulative tactics to push buyers into overpaying. Save yourself the trouble and avoid Stirling Ackroyd!!!

As a student let house there have over the years been a variety of problems to sort out . Rominder and now Jasmin have always been cheerful reassuring and helpful .We will continue to rent with them as prior to this we had some bad experiences with other agents.

I bought a house in Egham. They were the agents for the sellers. I felt a lot of pressure in making an offer for the property. When I submitted it (the process they use is quite cumbersome and complicated), I don't think this was communicated properly to the sellers, and I felt under a lot of pressure to increase it. When I found an alternative property, they came back on the same day telling me the seller accepted my offer...
After the offer was accepted, their agent (Ben) was very insistent in getting information from me but he was not particularly responsive to my emails. I was only able to visit the property a second time. My requests for a third visit and for a photo of the front door (to change the lock) had all been ignored. On completion day, I had to collect the keys from the seller. The real estate agent contacted me only a week after completion.
As a buyer, I wouldn't recommend this agency. But if you're interested in a property, it doesn't really matter who sells it. As a seller, I wouldn't rely on their services, unless they are significantly cheaper than their competitors.

Engaged Stirling Ackroyd to sell our house this summer.
Mark and Ben were very proactive in promoting our house to potential buyers. We had our first viewing on day 1 of our contract start and a procedeable offer within 4 weeks, whereas with a different agent viewings had stalled after the initial interest peak.
Communication could be clearer, as some information about the downward chain was held, but all in all, we managed to sell within the timeframe that we had planned.
5 stars to Stirling Ackroyd for their high proactivity.

Big thanks to Ben for coming out and showing us properties for weeks on end, and listening to us pine after that one property that "got away" (before we managed to secure a sale on our existing property...) But, thanks to his quick thinking, when it unexpectedly came back on the market we managed to get a second chance. A couple of stressful months later we are now in our new home. They will explain everything and guide you through the process. They are happy to answer any questions you have and they respond to emails quickly. My partner and I mostly spoke with Ruby, Jasmine and Andre and they helped us a lot through the process.

Typical letting agent sadly. Landlord breached tenancy agreement on three occasions by entering the property unannounced.
Hole in the ceiling for several months that can only be looked at once a year which is again a contract breach.
Landlord had property sale documents sent to me in error but the letting agent tried to deny what these were.
These people are disgustingly one sided shysters and despite being evidently in the wrong will turn it round and bully the tenant.

TLDR: Buyer beware, the staff at the Egham branch are liars.
I was shown around the property in question by Ben Watson. He neglected to mention that it was on a private road, with additional fees and legalities. This was discovered by my solicitor long after I had made an offer. I decided to continue.
Mark Latham the team leader at this branch took over correspondence. Over several weeks he regularly assured me that all delay was due to the vendor’s solicitor who was notoriously slow. He then told my mortgage advisor that the delay was due to me, and that all of my solicitors enquiries had been answered, which was and still is untrue.
I tried to get in touch with Mark about this. The staff at the Egham office promised me that Mark would call me back on three separate occasions, but he didn’t. On the fourth try, he finally did call me. When confronted with his dishonesty he blamed my mortgage advisor for being the only company that randomly calls up the agent, and said that it is not his responsibility to chase up my solicitor’s enquiries.
I then dealt with Brian Sparrow in sales progression. He frustrated my solicitor by calling her up frequently and asking the same questions without seeming to remember the answers from the previous day. He also confirmed to me both over the phone and in writing that my request for the vendor’s solicitor to draft a contract had been agreed and later that the contract had been drafted. I am now rescinding my offer to purchase because the contract has in fact not been drafted, and the vendor does not agree to my request. Brian has refused to pass on my request to the vendor despite multiple attempts, and in the end I contacted them directly.
Stirling Ackroyd are single-handedly responsible for wasting months of both my and the vendor’s time. They have a culture of dishonesty, telling people what they want to hear, and outright lying, in a vain effort to put things off till tomorrow, and this behaviour is consistent across the entire Egham office and worst at the management level.
I have made a complaint to Stirling Ackroyd via the recommended route. They promise to respond within 15 working days - I have not received any response and the 15 days have elapsed.
The ombudsman requires that I go through Stirling Ackroyd’s internal complaints procedure before initiating a complaint with them. I consider no response within the promised period to count as having completed the process.
I much prefer Nevin and Wells’ approach. They tell you the good and bad things about a property up front, and just come across as a genuine, family-run business that treat honesty as one of their core values.
If you must make an offer on a Stirling Ackroyd property, don’t trust a single word these agents say. Always get everything confirmed in writing by your solicitor.

I am a buyer, they hide very important information when they sold you a freehold house, you should pay extra money every year but they didn’t tell you. And this money maybe increase every year. That is the truth. Please be careful when you buy a property from them.
And they always told you the progress which are not true, please be aware of them.
They didn’t think of how to help buyer and seller to complete the deal, but they called me to delete this review, I refused.
I am very disappointed in them, I initially believed them, but lots of details what make me very disappointed in them.

Mark and Ben were most helpful with my sale, from providing marketing advice and discussing pricing options, to carefully managing the viewings and working around tenants in-situ. I was kept informed throughout and further discussion and guidance was provided following post-survey negotiations. Although the falling market has meant I did not receive the asking price, I am content that I was shepherded toward a better price than I might have hoped for with a different sales team. Very poor communication and wasted our time. They’ll advertise a property to rent then will increase the asking price once they know you’re interested. Asked us to meet with the landlord at their office and we were there 20 mins waiting for them and we ended up walking out. No acknowledgement/communication or apology from them either. Glad we went elsewhere.

If you plan to rent privately, I suggest you avoid this agency!
EDIT TO RESPONSE BELOW:
- You charged me £600 in admin fees. And lost it TWICE! I had to CHASE YOU to sort it out with the branch to find it. (This was when admin fees were allowed).
- When I lodged a complaint in about our landlord falsifying documentation amd communications and breaking clauses in the contract, that YOU guys set up on behalf of them. You literally wiped your hands clean and said you 'couldn't help'.
-You gave us hours notice to show potential next tenants the property that we were leaving. Illegal. By law you have to give 24 hours.
-Check out with you was the most STRESSFUL thing ever. Leading up, you didn't know what was happening. Kept changing the plans and decided half way through the day on checkout to change again ,where we had to travel hours BACK to the offices just to give you the keys!

Was looking for a place for my son to rent. The first viewing went well with Danielle showing professionalism. However, on another viewing arranged by Jasmine and where Danielle was supposed to do the viewing, they didn't turn up and left us in the rain outside the property and very disappointed.
I appreciate things go wrong sometimes but the lack of communication subsequently on this occasion showed lack of care and attention to detail.
I have registered with many other agents in the area now as I don't have confidence in their team.

Mark and Ben, and the rest of Mark’s team, did an outstanding job marketing and selling our family home in Egham. Their experience, dedication, care, and communication were excellent throughout the sales process, during both the active search for a qualified buyer and the subsequent process of bringing the sale to completion.
Mark is direct and honest and understands the Egham market extremely well. A good listener, he understood that I was looking for a “go to market” strategy that wasn’t just “price the house at a low price to get a quick sale, and if after two weeks we hadn’t identified a qualified buyer it must be that the price is too high” (this was the typical approach other local agents in the area were recommending to us). Mark stood out among his competitors by his enthusiasm and willingness to showcase the home’s value and unique features, and to find the right buyer for our house.
We knew we needed a team willing to put in extra effort to find the right person who appreciated the differentiation and potential the house offered while understanding that some updating would be required. Mark made a point to appreciate the unique qualities of the home and understood that I wanted someone to market it the right way, be patient, and put the effort in to find the right buyer and at a good price. Our experience with Mark and Ben at Stirling Ackroyd has been nothing but outstanding throughout the process of selling our property. From our first valuation till completion Mark has been transparent, honest, fair and informative. As we had two homes to sell, we have had to deal with two different estate agents due to location constraints. I can say hand on heart that there is a world's difference between Stirling Ackroyd Egham and other estate agents in and around the area. My husband and I have recently decided to make the move out of London.
Having contacted contacted several agents in the area, we arranged a Saturday viewing with Fozley at Townends, who then suggested we look at another property - which wasn’t even on our radar - on the same day. Fozley met us at the first property and kindly arranged for us to meet with Rominder at the next property straight after.
As soon as we walked through the front door of the second property, we instantly fell in love, and knew this was we were could see ourselves living for the foreseeable future.
Rominder got the ball rolling straight away and we put our offer in immediately. Introducing Nick...
After completing the online offer that day, Nick called only 2.5 hours later to inform us that our offer was accepted. We were thrilled!
That afternoon we paid our holding deposit and completed all our referencing requirements. By Friday the following week, we had already received and signed our final contract.
From the minute we put our offer in, Nick was on the case and always available to assist us with any queries we had. And even if he wasn’t able to respond for any reason, I would receive a phone call at the end of the day to let me know why.

Shame on you !!!! I came from London on a rainy day, 1h 45 + 2 h 30 return to see a property. I arrived at the location 15 min earlier, at some point the tenant ( but I am pretty sure was the landlord) comes out and tells me the agent will be a bit late and after 4 minutes I received a call from the agent telling me that the " tenant" is not allowing them to show me the property. I never saw in my life something like this, I took day off just to go there and just because I am other nationally they treated me that way... Avoid them!!!!! You should not be calling yourself estate agents, this profession has nothing to do with the way you deal with possible future tenants.

Worst estate agents I've ever used. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They are the slowest at getting anything done. Its take me 9 phone calls 4 emails after our agreed deductions and ive still not got my deposit back its been nearly a month, ill say again theres no issues with it other than them just sending the money!!! Its not just the deposit trying to sort anything out with the property was nearly impossible with endless circles of phoning them and they act like you havent spoke to them 6 times before to sort the same issue out.

From the initial contact with Townsends Lettings in Egham to the final signing of the letting contract, it was an experience of total satisfaction and professionalism. Our dealings were with a lady called Rominder and she was absolutely fantastic throughout the process. Never before have I received such poor service from any establishment. Besides the complete lack of communication between departments, agents to land lords, the radio silence you will receive will be enough to drive you over the edge.
The most common response you will receive at Townends will be "I do not know, I will have to check", and then a solid two weeks of waiting for any response. You will then need to call in again, send an email, call once more, send a further email, and then your agent will conveniently go on leave for two weeks and leave you with their colleague who also has not been even slightly briefed.
Additionally to the overall poor service we received in our tenancy period, we moved out of our house just under three months ago and have had to fight tooth and nail to get our deposit back despite being completely willing to pay towards anything that needed fixing or cleaning. Eventually we had to result in having to phone them multiple times a day whilst at work to ensure payment goes through.
The best recommendation for anyone considering renting through Townends is to READ YOUR CONTRACT. We were stupid enough to sign the ridiculous contract without going through everything with a fine tooth comb. We could have saved ourselves hundreds of pounds by renting with another agency.
Trust me, no matter how lovely the house, it is not worth going through this agency. Try Chancellors, they are great.

We rented with them for two years and had countless problems over this time, involving incorrect figures on contracts, our property not being professionally cleaned and now trying to get our security deposits back! They are so unprofessional; throughout the two years I rented through them I only encountered one person who was helpful and professional. I’m really disappointed and would not recommend, you should not have to beg a company to return your money to you!

Horrible. I can only assume they pay people to say nice things about them on here because no-one I know has ever had a decent, never mind positive experience with them.
As for me, I rented from them and they charged an outrageous admin fee of £600 to do...nothing? When quizzed on it, they pointed me to a list on their website explaining all the "services" included in the admin fee, all of which were either 2 minute jobs like transferring funds to the landlord, or things they plainly didn't do at all.
Took four months and repeated prodding to even get them to respond to my written complaint about the fees. Currently taking it up with the Property Ombudsman because they refuse to refund any of it, despite clearly not having provided me with anything near £600 worth of services.

I have rented my property through Townends since 2012 and have been consistently satisfied with their service. The changeover between tenants has been handled promptly and efficiently and the property has not been vacant once in six years. Maintenance issues are communicated and dealt with swiftly. Most recently I have been dealing with Rominder Virdi at the Egham office and she has been more than helpful in steering me through the torturous local government form-filling that has just come into effect. I'm happy to recommend Townends to anyone who wants to let a property with a minimum of stress.

Take back their words, abrupt and refused to amend paperwork that had only been typed up (LATE) and not even yet sent out let alone signed because there was a football match on at 7pm so they're closing early (5pm when it states 6:30pm!?!). Will do anything to get out of work.

Worst estate agents ever. They have no time for students - if you report a problem it won’t be fixed for at least a month. And when they do come to fix a problem they don’t inform you the correct date and will walk in whenever they want. Expensive, ignorant, unhelpful. after £700 in fees they even charged me £2 for paying by debit card. The worst experience ever.
If the above wasn't enough, they have opened a British Gas account in my name without telling me, because they make commission from British Gas. Also they have given access to my property to maintenance people - for indeed an issue i have raised - but without telling me that someone is coming. Their electrician gained access with his own key while i was in the property.
