14th Mar 2025 (10 days ago)I am certain that Tim Gover and his team got the best price for us for our cottage in Swaledale - and we agreed the sale within two or three weeks of first advertising. Their sales and marketing strategy really worked for us. They took excellent pictures, made a lovely brochure, advertised widely, and were very efficient with the viewings that took place despite the challenging approach to the property and time of year (winter). They kept me informed of all viewings, and all of their staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable whenever I called the office. I appreciated that the person conducting the viewings was willing to help me turn on the heating when the LPG gas ran out, as I live a couple of hundred miles away. There were quite a few snags along the way to completion, but this was not their fault, and they gave us good advice. They recommended/organised decent local contractors such as tree surgeons and drainage companies. They were prompt in dealing with emails and requests from our solicitor and always took my concerns as a vendor seriously. Tim himself has a great manner, and is very reassuring to chat with. Ours was not a particularly expensive property and yet I felt we got a great level of service. The only negative, not worth losing a whole star over were that the decription of the property for the advertising was not as thorough as I would have liked - and I ended up rewriting it - but that has happened with every estate agent I have dealt with this year (selling three properties with three different agents) so maybe more to do with me than them! Huge thanks to Tim and all the team for getting the best price for our property in an efficient process!

The costs were clearly communicated from the outset which wasn’t the case with some other agencies we contacted. Communication was excellent and they handled all negotiations well. We were kept well informed as the sale progressed. We would have no hesitation in recommending them.

4th Sep 2024 (6 mo. ago)Recently sold my property through smiths and friends and initially very impressed. The lady that valued it was very professional and helpful and the man who took the photos and video did an excellent job. The after sales however was a different story. Hardly any contact after it was sold ..no updates, I was getting more info from my buyers and my solicitors. On the day of the sale my buyers solicitors had forgotten to send their money resulting in a huge delay. I was 20 Mins late dropping My keys off and I had a very shirty joy (aptly named) ring me to ask where I was as my buyers were waiting !! Er not my fault !! Walked into the office to drop the keys / hostile environment .. no asking how it’s gone etc. then went to pick my keys up from Northgate for my house - totally different experience - greeted with a smile, invited to sit down, asked how it went, given a welcome to your new home goodies box … it’s the little things that count. Considering I spent just short of £2.5k with smith and friends I felt that they took my money and ran and for that reason I won’t be recommending.

She was just exceptional, and the sale being a challenging one had the patience of a saint and went above and beyond to get the sale over the line. I cannot recommend them all highly enough. I can't rate Savills of York high enough after the recent sale of my home. From beginning to end they were exemplary. It is a rare experience in today's world to find any organisation that can perform consistently to such a standard. From the initial telephone call, to completion, everyone at Savills demonstrated the highest professional standards. Telephone calls were always returned quickly and action was always taken when requested. This applied at every level of the York office. My property was sold to the first person Savills arranged to view, without going fully on to the market. But they had many more prospective purchasers lined up in the wings. But this swift sale did not distort my view. I have bought and sold many properties over the years and understand why some agents have the reputation they do. If everyone performed to the Savills level that would not be the case.

2nd Sep 2023 (1 year ago)Very impressed with time keeping and overall process. The only small issue was that I asked for no FOR SALE board on the property. One appeared. I asked for it to be removed. After a few days it was taken away, but leaving rawl plugs in the stone wall near the front door.

14th Feb 2025 (5 weeks ago)We have recently sold our house based in Beckwithshaw at Moor Park, challenging (at times) was an understatement. Alex Booth was consistent, professional, extremly informative, polite and always kept me updated with the impending sale, we reside overseas and at ALL times Alex kept me updated as we progressed with the sale, going over and above, carrying out non related tasks due to the property being empty and the family as eluded being overseas. Yes we selected a highly recommended agent, but its not just the company, it is the individual that is tasked for and on behalf of the company to complete the SALE. Out of 5*, without a doubt 10!

31st Jul 2024 (7 mo. ago)Our overall experience with Bettermove is one of disappointment. They sold a model whereby they would market our property to their pool of investors. Essentially they put our house on Rightmove for a slightly higher price then they said they would pay us and left it there. I had to chase for updates and when they responded it was to say that their investors thought the price was an issue! So why didnt you speak to us about that and say what we thought to reducing. I dont actually think they've got investors, just people who want a cash purchase in certain areas. Fortunately we didn't pay Bettermove any money for their services and we ended the contract as soon as we could- 18th Aug 2023 (1 year ago)Absolutely dreadful company. Communication had to be prompted from the start, no viewings until I suggested changes to the advert, the is no responsibility taken by the staff. They are more happy to ignore your questions and hope you go away. Steer well clear
