2nd Mar 2019 (7 years ago)We are student at Durham University and we decided to rent a house. I called the estate agent and they agreed to send us the agreement and everything to rent this one house that we really liked. We were supposed to arrive a week later to submit the forms and pay deposit. When I got the papers, they confirmed with us that the house would be definitely be reserved for us. However, the morning we were supposed to hand in the papers, I got a short, badly articulated email saying that the property was no longer available and that we should look somewhere else. No explanation, nothing. We were angry because student accommodation is competitive and we lost so much time waiting for this house. Upon emailing them multiple times, they finally said that the previous tenants decided to stay for another year. Didn’t they confirm with the current tenants that they would be moving out? Why would they even list the house if that was an option? .Why send us the agreements and everything? They didn’t even bother trying to find us other options that we could stay at instead. All and all, I would never use this agent again because their service is absolutely terrible

21st Oct 2025 (20 weeks ago)So far I have no complaints, I have been advised each step of the way and I had offers within the first week and accepted an offer within the first ten days. It's a waiting game for things to progress but I have every confidence in Sarah Mains staff.
13th Feb 2026 (25 days ago)We had quite a stressful start to our selling our property but Gordon Brown were very good keeping us updated and chasing things. For the amount of times we were emailing and ringing they were extremely patient and was a pleasure dealing with the whole team.

20th Feb 2026 (18 days ago)Useful to be invited to comment! I/we would say that it's never good to be provided with false information. Nor to suffer broken promises, or to be introduced to a buyer who definitely isn't going to be able to buy, and an agent is well aware. These things cause real damage and distress to a seller. I/we definitely don't recommend this business, it caused provable harm.THE PROPERTY BUYING COMPANY LIMITED
