16th Feb 2022 (4 years ago)Worst company imaginable. Gave us misinformation for over six months regarding entry dates and also told us development was finished when it was not. Double check everything you are told by them. They misled us and we ended up over £18000 out of pocket. Avoid this company at all cost. They don’t admit liability for anything they do.
28th Dec 2023 (2 years ago)Had problems getting through to my team initially as messages went awry. I went up to Musselburgh and spoke directly to Cherese and everything went smoothly after that. Lina then came onboard and negotiated a fair price on the property I wanted. The score then went to good communication.
7th Oct 2024 (1 year ago)James from DMD was very efficient, knowledgeable and helpful. At all times it seemed that the process was totally under control and any queries were replied to with unimpeachable promptitude.

24th Oct 2025 (7 mo. ago)I have dealt with this solicitor and property agents since 1985. They are the most professional, thorough and efficient company that i have ever had dealings with in my whole life. I have bought and sold 7 properties for myself, 1 property for my mother and 1 property for my son. The property front office run by Carolyn McLaughlin and her colleagues always marketed my properties extremely well which in turn led to most of them being sold in under a month. In relation to my solicitor Mr David Vause, he is the ultimate professional in his field. David was always able to resolve any issues quickly and move transactions forward . I was able to converse with him over the phone or by email when i needed to. On the 22nd of October i popped in to the office to pick up deeds wills and other business letters to pass on to a new solicitor in Ellon. Envelope with these documents were left at reception for me to pick up and sign for. However David came down and we had a long chat about our interactions over last 40 years. What an absolute gentleman and ultimate professional.

12th Sep 2023 (2 years ago)We had exceptional service from Thorntons from start to finish. Our house sold in 4 weeks and the sales team were just so professional. Communication throughout the process was excellent and once we accepted the offer on our house the legal team at Thorntons were equally exceptional. Our solicitor was always on hand to answer our questions and provide us with best advice. Thank you for taking the stress out of selling a house!

21st May 2026 (24 days ago)We’ve had a really great experience with Mavor & Company from the very beginning. The reception and welcome we received made us feel comfortable and valued. The welcome hamper was such a thoughtful touch and really showed how much they care about their clients. Whenever we’ve had any requests or concerns regarding the house, their team has always been quick to respond and very helpful. Their professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency have made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend Mavor & Company to anyone looking for a reliable and caring housing agent!

4th May 2026 (6 weeks ago)Stewart (estate agent) was very involved from start to finish in the sale of our property. Always reachable, attentive, personal, and answering all of our questions. The market value of our property was also higher in Aikman Bell's valuation compared to other estate agents, so we ended up selling for a great price. Stewart's knowledge of the local market is second to none. Peter (the solicitor) was also excellent and to the point, meticulous and proactive. All in all we were simply extremely pleased with Aikman Bell's service throughout the whole process.

15th Nov 2024 (1 year ago)Overestimated price at quote stage and advised a lower one as soon as home report valuation was received, suggesting upset price 10k below valuation. Little feedback on website viewing figures unless I phoned to request it. Support for property viewings and feedback from viewers was reasonable. Once an offer was received, I had to email and phone Thornton's legal team repeatedly to chase progress. Title deeds were already held by Thornton's, but it took two weeks to scan and email them to the solicitor, delaying written acceptance of the offer beyond the deadline given by the buyer. Solicitor handling my case seemed to think this was normal and deadlines for acceptance of offers were usually ignored. Sale is not yet complete, but I would avoid using the same company for estate agency and legal services in future. It seems to encourage complacency and inefficiency, the opposite of what I expected.
