30th Jun 2021 (3 years ago)Initially I was really happy with the service the Lettings team provided, well actually, just Tony. I negotiated a reduced price for finding tenants thou what I wasnt told at this point is this would result in a very poor after sales service. The final tenant moved in a month ago and I am still waiting for the meter readings for four apartments plus some unsigned documentation, now waiting for a copy of thier complaints procedure. My advice....AVOID if you want a complete professional service.

11th Jun 2024 (13 weeks ago)I experienced discrimination whilst trying to rent a property. I have been told that they cannot take me or my family on their books as my son doesn’t earn enough! My disabled daughter is in receipt of PiP and I am a full time carer. Our benefits were not even taken into consideration. We were just told no and in no uncertain terms to not apply again. I am sure that between the three of us we would meet the requirements needed. I am also sure that it is against the law to refuse someone a tenancy because they are on benefits. I was almost accepted by the landlord when I first viewed a property.. it sounded promising, I was told when I rang the agents after the viewing, to take a deposit to the estate agent the following morning and they would hold the property for us.. only to get a message saying someone else had paid a deposit between the phone call late afternoon and 9am as the estate agents doors opened. I went there (on the train) to pay my deposit to be told the lady on the phone shouldn’t have told me to bring a deposit. They needed paperwork first. I sent over all the documents they needed. But I feel they had already made their decision. It wasn’t us! I will not waste my time with this estate agent again. To save yourself disappointment and unnecessary upset I advise you do the same
23rd Aug 2024 (17 days ago)The agent subcontracts viewings, so the agent you meet in the office is not selling your home on the viewings, instead the prospective buyer is shown the house by a key holder who does not know the details.
31st Jul 2024 (6 weeks ago)I chose Main & Main for convenience, being just a couple of minutes from the house. How lucky that selection was! On day one Mr Main visited and gave a verbal valuation, arranged for spare keys to be cut, recommended draining the heating system (it was January & the house was unoccupied), recommended buildings insurance and gave advice regarding probate. Before the day was out, spare keys had been cut and a plumber drained the system. Weeks later when I discovered a gas leak, Main & Main organised emergency action to sort the problem the same day. Throughout the sale process I was informed of viewings and developments - some of them unexpected. I could not be more pleased with the service provided. Highly recommended.

11th May 2024 (17 weeks ago)My daughter and son in law were unlucky enough to have dealings with these people and have ended their tenancy paying what in my view are extortionate fees to the landlords, who it seems are looking for every possible excuse to retain my daughters deposit. Equally they have insisted on charging my daughter rent for periods in which she was not in occupancy as she helpfully found alternative accommodation when the landlords demanded they vacate at short notice, despite having a child under 4 in the house.
16th Jul 2024 (8 weeks ago)They were very friendly and know the area well. The valuation was accurate as the other agents we saw all gave the same figure. The listing looked good and generated a lot of attention, however there was no conversion of viewings to offers, and no clear reason why this was the case. I'm sure we could have left the property listed with them for longer and it would have sold eventually but we did not have the time or energy for ongoing ad hoc viewings.
18th Mar 2024 (25 weeks ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!
