I purchased my apartment in Bristol from Cliftons in March 2015. The process was smooth and I was dealt with in a very professional manner by the sales team. Cliftons are also acting as lettings agents for the property, and as with the sales team the personnel are professional, and prompt in all their dealings with me and my tenants. I would recommend Cliftons estate agents.
Complete rip-off. At the time we had to pay a deposit to the value of one months rent (so far so normal), then an 'agency fee' to the value of 40% of the deposit +VAT. I considered this pretty exorbitant, but then that may well have been par for the course before this new bill getting rid of agency fees. And THEN we had to pay a referencing fee! Which consisted of Cliftons getting a 3rd party to contact us to fill in an online portal ourselves and uploading scans of payslips and passports etc ourselves.
So all-in-all, upon moving in we had to pay first months rent, and then 1.67x that amount ON TOP.
Fees were a complete rip off, but i do get that this isn't a unique case. It was the lazy incompetence of everyone we dealt with from start to finish. They said I could pick the keys up at 9am, so I moved all my stuff out of my old place, put it in my car, had a friend take a day off to help me. Got there at 9am and said I was way too early and the landlord hadn't handed in the keys yet.
Once I got the keys and moved in they then completely wiped their hands of it all and offer no management or service for the property after the point of moving in so I really can't see where the value is in any of their fees.
I would recommend everyone looking at a Cliftons property to look with a different letting agency, or even go direct to landlords. I don't plan on ever giving them another penny.
Used orchards to find a suitable home to rent for our family! The girls in the office were so professional and friendly! Extremely good service! And will definitely use again. Highly recommended!
Unpleasant experience, rushed viewing for a house we wanted and bought - and Tom stated that it was 'most unlikely'' we would be able to buy it. Hence the sub-standard treatment - and made worse as our home that we sold was not given to them for selling.
They also kept us away from the sellers of the house we bought, refused to allow us to phone them - or speak to them. This couple was also not impressed with Orchard Estates as their sellers.
Boastful and arrogant- 'Blarney' applies to most of them working there - and not a word of congratulations or anything on our new home purchase via Orchard Estates. .
Also beware the estate agents review sites - this review was removed! Clearly they do not reflect views such as mine- and many others no doubt.
Cannot give less than one star unfortunately!!
In the face of adversity. With the longest chain in history, we were victorious!
Many many thanks to Gabby & Toni for continuing to battle to get the sale done.
I would highly recommend their services to all.
Fantastic. (and not a ticket sale in sight!)
Im not a customer of Palmer Snell, but I went into the Somerton branch today (07.02.18) to buy tickets for our local panto.
There was only one member of staff present (a young lady), who was serving a gentleman who I believe was looking to buy a home.
I wasnt acknowleged upon arrival (which is basic retail principles) and was ignored for a long length of time up until the point where I had to ask her if I could quicky buy tickets.
The kind gentleman who she was serving said that he wouldnt mind as buying tickets would be quick process.
The Palmer and Snells represetative shocking reply was "this is our priority, this is my full time job; so you will have to wait" this was in such a rude manner.
I understand that you were serving a potential home buyer, however if this is your standard customer service practice within your company, I would advise all customers to avoid Palmer Snell Somerton.
We will certainly not be buying our home through your company later this year.
A first class service from George,Tracey and Russell.
Our sale involved several complicated issues, expired barn planning approvals, ancient land uplift ties and confusing land boundary identifications etc.
Well done and thank you for a very professional and successful conclusion. We would certainly recommend your services to anyone considering selling their property.
David and Olive Macey
I can't recommend George James properties highly enough. We have recently purchased our home, which we absolutely love, through them and found them all so knowledgeable, organised and friendly. I'd had no experience myself so the team guided me through the process, infact they were so much more helpful than the estate agents we used to sell my partners house. Thank you so much, especially to Spencer, George, Russell and Tracey for all your hard work.
