I feel compelled to share my deeply unsatisfactory experience as a tenant with Chancellors Estate Agents, particularly the High Wycombe branch.
My husband and I started renting our current residence through Chancellors. From the onset, our experience has been marred by unfulfilled promises and a lack of transparency.
When entering our tenancy, we had requested specific pre-tenancy tasks, such as deep cleaning of the carpets, repainting of the walls, and the removal of rubbish behind the property. Despite assurances in phone conversations, none of these promises were honoured, with Chancellors stating that these were not in the contract.
The situation escalated when we woke up to a 'For Sale' sign in our front garden. Shockingly, we had not been given any prior notice about the landlord's intention to sell. Upon reaching out to Chancellors, we were informed that the landlord planned to sell to an investor, effectively transferring our tenancy. However, when we discovered our property listed on RightMove and Zoopla, the lack of communication from Chancellors became more apparent.
Multiple attempts to communicate our concerns and seek clarification were met with silence. We requested details about the sale process, the timeline, and the new owner's intentions regarding existing tenancies. Our pleas for a meeting with the estate agents and the landlord were ignored.
Recently, we were inundated with calls from Chancellors requesting access for viewings. This, coupled with a further reduction in the property's price, raised more questions. When we asked why the landlord had not contacted us directly, Chancellors responded with a blatant disregard for our concerns, asking if we were ready to make an offer.
Our attempts to discuss the situation and explore potential options, such as purchasing the property, were dismissed. The focus seemed solely on the sale, neglecting our rights and the uncertainty we now face.
Chancellors Estate Agents' prioritization of property sales over tenant welfare is disheartening. We feel neglected, uninformed, and unimportant in this process. As tenants, our rights should be respected, and communication should be transparent. Unfortunately, Chancellors has fallen short of these basic expectations.
Our hope is that by sharing this experience, others may approach their relationship with Chancellors with caution, and the agency may reflect on the need for improved tenant relations.... Read more
