I rented recently with Chancellors. It seems there are some fake reviews here. But the lettings reviews are 100% correct. They are nice when it suits them eg whilst selling a place. Renting from them was an absolute nightmare. The lettings team are lying constantly, played the same game by whitholding my deposit even though the landlord had said it was fine and to allow me to have the deposit back. On top of that, the check in and out inventry, don't use them. They are not legit and have a deal with them. They will try their best to keep back the deposit. And will want their own cleaner to do the job, if you refuse they will be looking for any fault or create a fault. I would strongly suggest if you rent, go else where! These people are liars, especially the ladies in the lettings department. I will never use them again and will ensure all my friends and family go else where going forward.

Chancellors don’t even deserve 1star very unprofessional we have been lived 2years in 21 pond park road since June 2017 and we moved out 1st June 2019 we paid rent on time every month and also we paid deposit which we suppose to get back end of tenancy it’s been 7weeks when I call chancellors they blame landlord delaying when I call landlord she blame chancellors is delaying that’s how they playing game chancellors don’t help tenants at all and I hired professional cleaning whole house clean garden washed carpet painted whole house for landlord she is still making £200 false claim after 6weeks for washing machine not clean and keys broken in windows locks keys it’s never mentioned in check report keys was already broken in locks and rusted when we moved in 2017 when she want some work done she talk very sweet

After a poor start with another local agent I couldn’t be more pleased with the service I have received from the lettings team.
The marketing is exceptional and the photographer was very polite.

Soon they found the exact type of tenant I required and the moving in process was extremely smooth.

Great service from the lettings team.
Worked really hard to find a property which suited my needs and get me somewhere to live. The lettings manager in particular went the extra mile in accommodating a late viewing due to my working hours and nothing was too much trouble!

Overall quite a decent experience. We worked with Holly and she was really helpful in getting onto enquiries and kept communications going well. her colleague Daniel also helped us out quite a bit. I would say the post selling team in bracknell needs some work to improve their service and communications, having said that Holly and Daniel at the Abingdon branch were there to pick up and frustrations and chased up when we needed them too so they certainly went above and beyond and would certainly recommend working with them.

Daniel Freeman himself was great in branch and very easy to get hold of the whole time we were letting a property through Chancellors.

However, once the paperwork is signed you don't talk to the people in branch but to people in a centralised office and they are terrible. We got bounced between people who didn't know anything about our property, and that's if we got through at all. We often left messages and emailed and were ignored. But if we missed a call from them we were sure to get a snarky email about how "hard to contact" we were. We were repeatedly asked the same questions and got many calls trying to get us to buy through them once we'd sold out house no matter how many time we told them we weren't interested.
Chancellors also failed to organise any repairs on the house requested by the tenants and us, saying they needed to get a quote and then ghosting us. The tenants requested a simple gate fix in December that was never organised by Chancellors before they moved out in August, despite us constantly chasing them. Chancellors also took money from the rent without warning us or asking permission and it took weeks of calling them to get them to explain what this was for.
Its probably not the staff themselves that caused these problems but the system of having a centralised office of people who have to work on various areas and with various people without anyone getting to build a relationship or knowledge of the case.
We were letting our property through Chancellors and marketing it for sale through them at the same time. Some of the staff at Chancellors were rude about the other agent we were marketing the house with but the other agent got ten times the number of viewings Chancellors did and they were the ones who sold the house.

Basically the people in branch are great but get ready to never talk to them again once you sign anything. Terrible service that made everything much more stressful than it needed to be. Would avoid and not recommend to anyone.
