I sold my home using Cheffins Ely in March 2024.
With small agents it's often about one or two men or women.
I'm 64. Cheffins have been around most of my life.
Their resources and staff were reassuring.
We sold to a vulnerable Man who had a raft of advisors to protect him.
The sale was normal and progressed as expected.
Then we were faced with multiple questions and a survey that raised more questions. We were two months into a bridging loan
that was eroding our pension pot.
On the eve of completion more
queries seemed insurmountable.
When all seemed lost Cheffins saved
the day. They have a select team of experienced professionals who take
over once your home is sold. Their job is to quickly establish a rapport with all parties and liase with each to make sure the sale concludes.
They kept us informed. Just when we thought the sale was collapsing our Lady, Ms Neave Chambers took control.
We had reached an impasse and the sale was dead on the eve of completion.
Then I received an email from Neave.
She said "this is not over." 9.15pm in the evening and Cheffins were in contact.
Next day she negotiated with the buyer and his Solicitor. This went on all day. By 3.30pm an agreement was reached and we completed.
When I asked Neave 'How did you do that?'. She replied 'I've been doing this
for twenty five years'. And 'Cheffins give me the time and support to provide
clients with a dedicated member of staff to make it happen'.
What can I say? You get what you pay for.

Very poor experience of dealing with Cheffins. Although having done nothing wrong there was a total lack of interest in us as a buyer from the initial viewings to the sale. The only exception was Neave who was excellent in progressing the purchase.

Despite understanding the housing market is challenging, I was very disappointed by the lack of effort they put into trying to sell my property.
I never heard from them, I had to chase them for feedback from viewings. I’d hope for some useful hints that would help but from week 6 I didn’t hear from them at all, I had to call them.
Therefore I would not recommend them to anyone.

As long term tenants in a Cheffins managed property we were always happy with the service. However, their communication and service once the tenancy ended has been frustrating and stressful. Overpayment of rent and return of deposit - both of which have been acknowledged and approved - hard to get a sensible answer out of anyone. First it was "we've lost the paperwork" and then it was out of office responses from the people I'd been dealing with - having to find someone new and start the story all over again twice. 16 days after moving out we still haven't seen the return of our money.

Amazing experience throughout, even during some challenging times. Chris Hancock carried out our valuation and was clearly knowledgable of the area and marketing conditions. He took great time and care with us and explained the whole process as we have never sold before. We sold for a really good price, even more than what other agents had valued the property at. We even bought our new house through Cheffins. We we're struggling to find but it was their team who kept us informed of new properties that may be off interest, without their calls, I don't think we would have even considered the property we know live in. They explained why we should consider the property and we are so grateful they did. Jo in the lettings office is totally on the ball, I get notifications of any intended inspections, and they always attend at the appointed time and date. I had an electrical issue this weekend and literally 20 minutes after my call to the office an electrician knocked on the door and resolved the problem. 10 out of 10!!

An absolutely appalling letting agency from our experience. I can only speak for the letting side of it as we were renting but the service we received was abysmal. They found it acceptable to enter our home to conduct one of their inspections without making us aware and upon ringing them on a Saturday to enquire about getting a plumber in to sort out an issue of no running water in the house was responded with "Can it wait until Monday? Just that anyone we call out will charge a premium." They also find it acceptable to open up our wardrobes to people viewing the house. Only ever use as a last resort.

Stay away from them. Called them at 9am and arranged a viewing for 10.45am. As I was on the way already, at 10.15 received a message confirming my appointment (30 minutes before the appointment). Drove 30 miles to the property to find out that nobody was there. Waited. Called them to be placed on hold and then to be told that the property was taken of the listing and is no longer available. Apparently I should have received a message, which I didn't. Also when you call them there is so much background noise like they are standing in the middle of football stadium, although it was quite fun listening to someone's personal story.

I have now used cheffins for both the purchase and subsequent sale of my house and as letting agent for a rented property.
Howard and Mark could not have been more helpful, and their marketing was top notch. They actively organised viewings and mark really sold the property's merits to potential buyers both through his photos and when he showed people around in person resulting in an asking price offer within 5 days of my house going on the market.
Since then both he and Howard have been so proactive and kept on top of the entire process liaising with both solicitors and making the whole affair stress free and straightforward. We complete today and I can't thank them enough.
In the lettings department Jo and Terry were been incredibly helpful sorting a rented house for myself and my daughter whilst Richard at Ely and Ian in the Cambridge office have been a fantastic help.
I couldn't be happier with the service, attitude and expertise of the whole team at Cheffins. In my experience they offer a fantastic service and their team cannot do enough to help. Fantastic.

Very poor experience from day 1 of our tenancy managed by Cheffins. Issues such as not informing us when a boiler inspection was happening and getting home to find someone had been in our home without us knowing. They didn't inform us when the check out at the end of the tenancy was happening nor were they were bothered about finding out. Glad to not have to deal with them again and when the time comes to buy I won't be going near them.
