Renting a property through Connells has been a torturous experience from day one. When we viewed the property, it was remarkably unclean and there was an obvious leak from the loft that was pointed out and we were assured the property would be cleaned thoroughly and the leak looked at before moving in. We paid a holding deposit and were ignored for a week following this despite trying to contact Dale several times a day regarding referencing.
When referencing was finally complete (which was a whole battle in itself), we didn't receive the keys on the day of the tenancy beginning because the branch didn't have them, an inventory was not carried out, and the property was in the same disgusting state with food left in the cupboards, the landlords rubbish in the garage, cigarette burns on the carpets, and the aforementioned leak still causing issues.
On top of this, the boiler failed a month after moving in, and due to a "lack of funds"to replace this, we were left with no bathing facilities for 6 weeks - which Connells deem perfectly acceptable and not worthy of even a penny of compensation.
Despite many repeated attempts to be sent these, we have not seen a copy of the gas safety certificate for the property or a supposed inventory that was carried out on the property.
Most concerning, the property has no carbon monoxide detector and despite my requests to have this rectified, I have been ignored despite their legal obligation.
Don't bother making a complaint either, Connells don't investigate or follow their own complaints procedure either. A shambles of a letting agency and I wouldn't recommend anyone I like touch them if they were the last agents on Earth.... Read more

This branch has handled me terribly as a tenant. I moved in December and let Dale, the branch manager know that the previous tenant had left a huge corner sofa there via text. It is now MAY!!! and after countless calls and emails the sofa is STILL here. It’s such a massive inconvenience to get rid of and the branch refuses to do anything. They won’t call you back, which is strange because I seem to remember Dale calling me 3 times a day when I was ready to put down a deposit. I called Dale last week and he assured me that it has been passed on to head office, I asked him to CC me into an email confirming this but he didn’t because he’s a liar and a slime ball. Terrible experience as a tennant, just pay the little bit extra and get a decent letting agents that will take care of stuff like this.... Read more
