It was such a pleasant experience we had with Durden & Hunt and their lovely agent Anya.
As soon as we mentioned what exactly we’re looking for she came up with a beautiful place which was almost perfect for us. She was able to offer a viewing the very next day which was very quick for us to have a look and decide. She showed me the place, was able to explain the features very well and she answered all the questions I had. Eventually we didn’t end up renting the place however I was very satisfied with this process as they were quite helpful and considerate. I would definitely recommend Durden & Hunt and huge thanks to Anya.

The 5 stars is solely for lily beveridge who works for said company. I honestly believe if she was around 2000 years ago they would have wrote a book about her and called it the bible. She may not be able to turn water into wine or walk on water (as far as I know) but she will do everything possible to help you and make your house searching experience easy and she will answer questions you haven’t even asked yet. Well done to durden and hunt for hiring this spectacular women.

Massive shoutout to Anya Williamson at Durden and Hunt!, Colchester!. She was so polite the whole way through and honestly knew her stuff inside out. No jargon, no pressure, just straight-up helpful advice when we needed it. Made everything way less stressful than we thought it’d be. We dealt with Mr Richard Baker who from the first meeting was very professional, he explained everything in plain and understandable terms ie. How the property market was at the moment and that he was confident that he would sell our property , there was not a doubt about he's commitment. I worked with Anya and I couldn’t recommend her and Durden & Hunt more. I understand the market is crazy and so often you feel like your needs don’t matter or even worse, the reason why you’re moving doesn’t matter - not with Anya or the Durden & Hunt team! Anya has been so kind, really understanding of my circumstances and genuinely wanting the best for me and sharing great advice. If you’re struggling to navigate this crazy market, don’t go anywhere else but here - you will be treated like a person and not a number!

Review ~ I contacted Durden & hunt estate agents today after I saw a property I was interested in viewing on Rightmove… a wonderful estate agent named Lily answered the phone, she was extremely professional and helpful and arranged a viewing immediately for me and was with us within a matter of hours, she was extremely knowledgeable on the property and the local area, as well as upcoming changes for tenants in the rental market, it was extremely refreshing to meet such a professional well mannered and well informed estate agent, as a result of this meeting with Lily I would highly recommend this company but especially Lily .. Durden & Hunt are not interested in creating a market for a property by allowing multiple interested parties to view the property, resulting in multiple competing offers. Instead they seem content to allow sellers to set the minimum offer requirement based on the seller's imagined value, rather than the actual value the market sets.

I had an amazing experience with Durden & Hunt when looking for a property to let.
The initial telephone conversation with Anya was very warm and friendly and she was able to throughly answer all the questions I had regarding the property. I also had a wonderful experience at the viewing - she took her time, showed me a range of apartment options and in-unit features so I could really get a feel and decide which apartment was the right fit for me.
I was looking to move in as soon as possible and Samantha was amazing at getting the admin/referencing completed so quickly that I was able to move in less than a week! She has also been very attentive in keeping me updated during the process of my move and always responded promptly to any questions I had along the way.
Thank you to you both for being so lovely and a bonus for also providing knowledge of the area I moved into which really put me at ease before my move. :)

Couldn’t recommend enough! I encountered quite a few issues relating to the sale of my property which was sold August 2025. Amanda took over my file in November when there was a lot of issues with my management company and all I can say is she is such a breath of fresh air compared to other estate agents we have encountered previously! She was compassionate, understanding but also very realistic and direct which allowed us to manage our expectations. She was even replying to emails in the evenings and always had an open line of communication with us! She went above and beyond and I can’t thank her enough for her honesty and perseverance because I honestly don’t think we would have completed!

I’ve had the greatest experience with this company. I was in a rush to rent a flat in Colchester, when I called them, without much hope. I had a bad experience in the past.
Richard, especially, was a great help. I called them about a different flat than I rented in the end. Richard had me viewing the flat through video call within ten minutes of me calling them. They managed to get everything in order specially for me in 3 days! The flat is great, in a very good condition, and in a great neighbourhood. I couldn’t be happier with them!

We've recently relocated and found a lovely home to rent in Colchester. From the outset, Richard was great to deal with, and we quickly agreed to move forward with the rental.
The referencing process had its challenges, as these things often do, but what really made all the difference was Samantha.
She has truly been a lifeline throughout this process. Always available, extremely personable, funny, empathetic and incredibly responsive, being quick to resolve any questions or issues ... often within minutes!!!
Her professional, calm and helpful approach took so much stress out of what has been a very hectic period for us, and thanks to her, we were even able to head off on holiday before the big move with complete peace of mind.
Samantha genuinely deserves special recognition. She's amazing ... and without her support, we might have walked away from the rental altogether.
