Hamptons was polite and pleasant to work with when it comes to helping you buy a property. They were happy to answer questions through every step of the way to ensure you understand the overall process.
The issue I have is the communication between buyer and seller when getting closer to the completion date. I discovered I was not communicated with the queries raised at the time when I had a phone call with the seller, days after we moved in. The only queries I replied to were about keeping some items they were happy to give away. This unfortunately did not reach the seller because when I moved in, they were not there.
I do wonder in some circumstances can both buyers and sellers communicate directly with each other on matters for example additional items to leave behind while the rest can involve either estate agents and or solicitors where appropriate. Overall from a buyer’s perspective the staff were great to talk to as mentioned but communication and delegation of who should speak to who might need to be look at retrospectively.

Hamptons, and particularly Jonty, was excellent with prospective buyers and very polite when arriving to collect keys. However, once the sale was agreed I couldn't have been more disappointed with Hamptons. I honestly felt that they were acting on behalf of the buyers rather than myself - they were pushy and difficult and there was a definite lack of communication. I reached out on numerous occasions to ask the buyers questions and there was never any response at all. It takes two minutes to send a quick email advising that the buyers hadn't responded if that was the case. There periods of inactivity which was to be expected and then suddenly it was go, go, go and the pressure was on me. I never felt supported at all and I was the one paying the fees. It was not the service I expected.

I'll be honest, despite a compelling agency portfolio and representation from Leon at our first meet, Hamptons wasn't our first choice of local agents when selling our house. As it transpired this was a very poor decision on our part, nevertheless, once we transferred agents and engaged with Hamptons we haven't looked back. Professionalism, efficiency and integrity, not often qualities that one can boast about when it comes to estate agents, has been our experience from beginning to end. The whole team have, at all touchpoints, always been polite and facilitative, doing everything they possibly could to land the sale. Above all they have been incredibly supportive through what has been a rather turbulent journey, which, I must add, was totally unrelated to the team, but entirely due to circumstance.
Special shout outs and recognition must be extended to Laura (our excellent sales progressor) - who often went above and beyond) and to Becky and Leon. They have, all in their own right, been exemplary in their dealings with us and our solicitor.

We know the market now is what it is. And we know that the relation between people and agents sometimes feels like a relation with someone that is trying really hard to sell you something.
We were looking for a property (buyer side) and dealt with quite a few agencies. Some trying to sell us the story of "how good the market was" (...) and all of that. I was surprised to say that with Hamptons in Epsom I felt much more I was dealing with actual people. They helped dealing with what is one of the most stressful thing to do in your life, from being available to show us the properties we like, not being pushy, being human. Up to all the process management which was properly taken care of, managing daily communication between solicitors and buyer/seller. Still, situation is what it is for the housing market, but we are a family wanting a place to live, not finance traders, and we felt Hamptons was very much suited to help us achieving what we needed. Jackie at the office is a star, she replies and resolves within minutes. The sales team are a steady pair of hands advising you on the market and how best to extract value. While the internet is great at attracting potential buyers, these guys have the knowledge and gravitas to convert the potential. Having sold us our house 9 years ago, we were keen to approach Hamptons in Epsom to sell it just recently. Brilliant from start to finish. We had a couple of quotes to sell our house but we liked the down-to earth approach of the Hamptons team and the fact they list on all the major property sites. They gave us guidance as to what we needed to do to make the house look its best, worked to our timetable completely and then sold it on the first open day within a week of listing.
There were some delays with the sale with regard to finalising the freehold but the Hamptons sales progressor coordinated with all the solicitors involved and kept them on track as well as keeping the buyers in the loop throughout.
Overall, we were very pleased with the service from Hamptons.

Bad business. We put an offer in for a property, as did other people. We called back today to find out what was going on and was told it had been sold. This goes against everything estate agents are meant to do as we would have put another bid in had we been informed someone had bid higher. Instead, the bloke decided to go in hokiday, not tell any of us that someone had bid more and just sold it to someone. It all seems a bit dodgy as in perhaps they sold it to someone directed to them. Would not recommend using this company as a seller or a buyer as they do not have your best interests.

Had a fantastic experience with the guys from Hamptons
Being the last viewing of the day, Jonty spent about 40 minutes showing us the property we were seeing, taking time to show us every feature. When we explained that we hadn’t put our place on the market, he arranged for his colleague Paul to give us a valuation on our place the next day. Less than 24 hours later, Paul was at our kitchen table giving us a very thorough/ well researched valuation on our current home. Throughout, the one thing he repeated over and over was “we will never pressure you to sell”.
The whole experience left us thinking we are unlikely to consider other agents in future.

Then I decided to change agents and tried Hamptons who since the begging were really honest and proactive. Leon did the house assessment and all I can say is he was right with the price, I really like his honesty, he promised he could sell the house at around that price and he really delivered. Less than two weeks later we already got an offer. Becky took over the sell and follow-ups, and she was fantastic. So where do I start! At the beginning with a professional appraisal of my home by Paul, who was humble and never made false promises as other agents can do. We took a leap of faith and got the ball rolling. Photographs and brochure were stunning, a fantastic photographer, then off to market! Hamptons took on the sale of my house following an unsatisfactory experience with another estate agent. They were so much more proactive in getting people in to view and seemed to have a real feel for the sort of buyer who would be attracted to the property. I received two competitive offers and Hamptons dealt with this in a fair and professional manner.
The sale was challenging due to the pressure of the stamp duty deadline and some delays in the conveyancing process, but Christine was calm and reassuring throughout and dealt with some tricky conversations with considerable tact. I felt in very good hands during a pretty stressful time.

Hamptons International presented their own greed to achieve a quick sale above our interest to get a good return from property sale. Frequently proposed reduction in value despite ten similar surrounding properties being substantially more expensive per sqft and no feedback from prospective purchasers that property was over priced.
Having previously worked through Hamptons' to purchase the property, there was a distinct reduction in quality from how they operated ten years prior.

We were overseas cash buyers using this agent paying the full asking price. The international estate agents didn't have a clue how to handle international clients; they were more concerned with bullying us into doing the work, rather than doing the work themselves. On top of the lack of customer service, the emphasis seemed to be on cross-selling their services. Avoid the sales teams advise to use in-house solicitors at all cost (go external). After completing on the purchase, the property is still on Rightmove, after requesting multiple times for it to be taken down. Compared to other agents we've used in the past (Savills) they're by far the worst.

Instructed Hamptons on the basis they said they had a lot of buyers on their database that would be looking for a property like ours and that they would also send it to other offices nearby to extend coverage. Cannot recommend the Epsom Hamptoms team enough - to sell your house in this area you will not find a more committed team. They qualify buyers (not always the case across estate agents), they keep you updated on feedback without you having to chase (never the case with other estate agents) and instill confidence in the fact that they want the sale for you not just the commission!
Jackie is friendly, organised and always up to speed when the rest of the team are away from the office on viewings.

Christine Temple in the Epsom branch was wonderful, not your stereotypical estate agent which was a breath of fresh air. Very friendly, not pushy, very approachable and amazingly patient with us as we weren't sure what to expect as we have just bought our first home through her. We used Hamptons for both our sale and purchase. I rarely write reviews and when I do, I don't give 5 star reviews easily. However, this was thoroughly deserved. They were outstanding, especially given that we needed a quick turnaround. The team were very responsive, especially with helping to facilitate a quick exchange and completion. I just liked the 'can do' approach, especially where Becky offered and literally ran contracts between 3 location to get the deal done. Would definitely recommend.

Hamptons managed to steer successfully a complicated house sale for me in Ashtead , whilst my property was tenanted .we managed a section 21 notice, one viewing , and an exchange and completion the day after the tenants vacated .All in a period of 8 weeks. I would like to express my thanks for a truly professional service and working together with Hamptons Lettings in Weybridge by Hamptons Sales in Epsom , with many thanks to Scott in Weybridge, liaising with the tenants, and the inventory inspection and Leon, , Becky and Christine in sales in Epsom to ensure vacant possession, exchange and completion all in one day !

Right from the outset, the Hamptons people showed real enthusiasm for helping us sell the house. It felt like they were on the journey with us and it wasn’t just another job for them. This was in marked contrast to other agencies who offered to provide a service for much lower fees but felt very transactional in their approach.
It turned out to be a long process in a difficult market and we had some very frank conversations along the way. Leon in particular had to deliver some difficult messages but he did so in a clear, professional and matter of fact way and we appreciated his candour.
We felt that Hamptons pulled out all the stops to market the property and never gave up.
We liked that Hamptons stayed on the case right through to the end, kept on top of the solicitors and kept us informed.

As a buyer through Hamptons we did find that we needed to be pushing them for communication and was not helped by the unexpected and sudden changes in staffing and contacts there. They did a good job of resolving a crisis that arose after our survey, but their handling of the purchase at the end just added stress to an already stressful situation. Clearly the agent acts in the sellers intrests as they are paying the bill, and that was apparent in our case.

Getting our house on the market was made very easy by Nick and the team. We felt it was worth spending that little extra on commission as we were impressed with the way Hampton's photograph and market their properties - which made for a very quick sale. It would have been nice to have dealt with one person for the whole of the sale, as when we met with Nick, we bought into him and felt we could rely on him. However, the whole team have been very efficient and pleasant dealing with any queries from us and arranging viewings. I wouldn't hesitate to go with them again in the future.

We have just purchased a house and did so through Hamptons in Epsom. As we were the buyer, we could not choose the estate agent, but I must say we could have hardly met anyone better.
The purchase process turned out to be extraordinarily complicated and, with 22 months, very lengthy (due to circumstances on the seller’s side). In addition, for us this was the first time ever to buy a house, so we had many questions as of the beginning. However, despite all these obstacles, throughout the whole process the complete Hamptons team kept us incredibly well informed, gave us loads of advice and went more than just one extra mile for us to make this purchase finally a success.
A BIG THANK YOU to the whole team, especially Patricia, who must have had more than once a headache from dealing with our case! If we ever go to sell this house, it will definitely be through this Hamptons team in Epsom.
