I am not a person that normally writes many reviews but on this occasion I felt I must. At a sensitive time after my mother had passed Grant and his team at Hamptons were fantastic. Professional at all times, Knowledgeable on where to value my mother‘s house in the current market and understanding of the issues surrounding probate. They help us proceed with confidence that we were in good hands through the process and when issues were raised as always is the case in a house sale Grant and the team dealt with In a sensitive and efficient manner.
All of this resulted in us achieving a sale above the asking price in a very difficult market. I can’t thank you enough.

For Sales, maybe. Stay away for property management. Only interested in collecting fees and making sure they have an easy life. Do not conduct genuine referencing of tenants and when problems arise offer no support despite collecting full managed services fees. Very, very disappointing personnel and service standards.

I rented a property in St Albans through Hamptons. The property suffers from system damp issues and Hamptons colluded with the landlord by covering up the damp and mould. They did this before I rented thr property and also have just done it again to the next poor tenants. It is Hamptons' handyman, who I talked to, who carries out the masking to hide the issue for a short period, after which it is too late for the tenant as they are locked into the tenancy. Hamptons St Albans did not deny that this was the practice they were undertaking, which is surprising for a premium agency such as them.

Martin, promptly and expertly booked us a quick viewing. From that first conversation , which was both informative and imaginative , we already knew we were in the hands of a top outfit! Class!
We were shown round the property by Susan and Mimi on different occasions and both, in their different styles yet equal natural warmth, made the viewing experience a total joy, never rushing us and explaining all the benefits of the property at great length. Just superb!
Grant, who oversaw the negotiations knew exactly how to to strike the right balance at the key moments of the process for all parties involved , showing an outstanding level of expertise on his field. Never pushy , always informative and with an ability of making us put every situation into perspective. This is an extremely professional talented guy who has a solution to any hurdle. Priceless!
The purchase was progressed by lovely and calm Janine who knew how to remove any stress from us with her thoughtful words and always at the right time. Again, her experience Kept us informed every step of the way and somehow made us feel she was cheering us on all the way! Just Awesome!
Lastly, whilst we had brief interactions with Barbara and Louise, they certainly further enhanced the rest of the team each time we called the office as they knew who we were and what we were buying showing. Amazing!

In May we moved and sold our house through Hamptons St Albans branch.
There really are not enough good words to say how phenomenal Grant, Janine and the team were.
From our initial meeting with Grant who was friendly, helpful, charming and highly professional, it was a pleasure to deal with him. He was not pushy in the slightest, extremely knowledgeable about the local vicinity and other comparable properties for sale and has his finger on the pulse of the St Albans property market. Having previously had a bad experience with another agency in St Albans and being recommended to Grant instead they were absolutely right - Grant is THE man if want to sell or buy in St Albans!
I literally drove Grant mad with a million questions and concerns all the way through and he was nothing other than lovely. He even helped me with concerns over other properties I was considering buying as I was looking at listed buildings (he is very knowledgeable about all aspects of types of properties and land ).
He found us a buyer within a week (honestly!) as he knows exactly what type of property would appeal to and suit the buyers he has registered. Photos were barely taken and the house was under offer! We were very, very happy with the price Grant sold our property for.
I was initially unhappy with a few of the photos taken by their photographer and Grant came straight over and took more photos himself, which were perfect!
Once we were under offer and had our offer accepted Janice, their progresser, took over. Janine is literally the loveliest, kindest, hardest working and most patient person ever!! It was incredibly challenging to exchange and complete by end of May to meet the Stamp Duty Holiday deadline but by sheer hard work and determination Janine got us there!! Exchanging on the 29th and completing on the 30th! Janine is a truly amazing person !
This honestly has to be the most hard working, efficient and loveliest estate agency in St Albans! All the staff I had contact with were friendly and super efficient! They literally pull out all the stops for their sellers. Not one bad word to say about Hamptons St Albans. We highly recommend them. Karan & Lewis.

After an aborted attempt at marketing our property with another agent as we were badly advised, it was a breath of fresh air to meet with Martin (St Albans branch) who made the process rather painless to bring the house to market. A flurry of viewings and offers of which we accepted as a result of being given excellent advice as to who was in a strong position to actually be able to move within the stamp duty deadline of end of June. Despite our onward move being to an area that is a ridiculously strong market and many issues being uncovered, they kept everything in track with our buyers and special mention to Grant (managed the sale) and the simply marvellous Janine who kept the whole sale together and kept all in the loop and was very useful in dealing with the inevitable queries that came up. All completed and everyone moved before the end of June deadline which was far from easy but all worked professionally to the conclusion. Excellent service and highly recommended. They were good value too and you don’t say that about estate agents often LOL.

After living in a property for 2.5 years we had the usual dealings with Hamptons, not good or bad, until checkout.
This all happened during lockdown so I understand that these aren’t normal circumstances but I am still working and still managed to safely move house and vacate and arrange professional cleaners before end of tenancy so not really an excuse.
No response to emails or phone calls (from me and the landlord, who I am in contact with.) It’s been two weeks since checkout with no communication other than to request 2 days rent as their checkout was 2 days after end of contract, I was out of the property! (They don’t do them on weekends apparently,) hardly my fault!
Disappointing to say the least.

1.breach of tenancy agreement; by letting random contractors barge in on us, in the house, with the agency's keys, without any prior written consent or phone call whatsoever.
2. unkept promises; from first visit to move in date, related to cleanliness and repairs to be done before the move in. (which are still pending after 3 months)
3. unprofessional; right before our move in date an uncertainty appeared with the landlords right to rent, which could have let us without a place to move, causing us great unrest. Which proves the incompetence of the agents checking each party of the agreement, not only the tenant, for which they seem to be doing a good job.

As first time buyers we really were totally green to they buying process. Grant Van Der Beek and the team went above and beyond to ensure that we were fully informed and educated throughout the process. Even when our initial acceptance fell through, Grant assured us that he would let us know prior to listing if a like for like property came onto the market. Lo and behold a couple of weeks later a property did. I am glad to say that this is now our home. We have just bought our dream home through Hamptons and I have to say it has been one of the least stressful and straightforward purchases I have ever made. Particular thanks to Grant who handled everything from when we first viewed the property right up to completion today. We felt like we were in safe hands every step of the way and the most impressive thing was just how much care was applied to every detail throughout the process. I wondered about the engagement from Laura and Victoria at Hamptons in St. Albans to help to find a flat for me. In Germany you are only a number if you need support from an agency.
They looked after me not only for the necessary things they give me support for a lot of little questions and needs. I felt realy safe with them.

This became a long drawn out process due to people making offers then cancelling them a week or so later. I live abroad so the difficulty in selling a property is triple to anything you experience in the UK.
The staff at Hampton International stuck to their job and were excellent at dealing with the unsocial contact hours I have being only available for a very brief time and +13 hours ahead.
With their help everything eventually went smoothly and they kept me informed at all times and acted immediately on my instructions.

They are an Estate agency that listen, they understand and they carried my transaction smoothly from start to end and more importantly kept the stress to a mininum! It's a little difficult to know what to say here as we have never used another letting agent so we have nothing to compare with. However, our experience has been very positive. All the staff have been pleasant, efficient and helpful. We succeeded in getting a suitable tenant when we needed to and Hamptons appeared to get everything sorted out for us with no problem, especially as we are now living out of the UK. It's only been a few months, but I am anticipating a successful ongoing relationship and were I to let another property I would use them without hesitation. Why not 5 stars? Simply because I expect Hamptons are relatively expensive compared with anecdotal evidence from other letters using other agents. However, you generally get what you pay for and I think that is true here. So thanks Hamptons! We're very grateful.
